0:00

all right guys today we're going to take

0:01

a look at the Bayer Dynamic aventho 300

0:04

wireless and I don't know if I'm saying

0:06

this correctly this could be avento or

0:08

aeno I'm probably saying this

0:09

incorrectly so I apologize in advance

0:11

this one is an overear closed-back ANC

0:13

wireless headphone uh from be dynamic

0:16

you guys might be more familiar with

0:17

some of their Studio headphones like the

0:19

dt880 the 990 the 1990 Etc this one is

0:23

meant to serve a different function so

0:25

uh let's get into the video and find out

0:26

if it's any good

0:28

[Music]

0:31

okay in this video we're going to go

0:32

over the build the design and all of

0:34

that stuff then we'll talk about the uh

0:35

how it sounds to me subjectively and

0:37

then we'll talk about the frequency

0:38

response and the measured results and

0:40

just my usual disclaimer here uh this

0:42

was actually sent to me directly from

0:43

beay Dynamic big thanks to beay Dynamic

0:45

for sending it out for a review I

0:46

greatly appreciate it and as always I do

0:48

not get to keep these products and all

0:50

thoughts and opinions here are my own

0:52

okay let's get started here with the

0:53

build quality the design and the comfort

0:56

and right away I just have to say that

0:57

this is one of my favorite looking

1:00

headphones that I've come across period

1:03

I love I mean this is the correct color

1:05

objectively um okay that's a joke but

1:08

like I love the way that this looks it

1:09

looks sleek classy and professional I

1:12

was wearing this outside you know going

1:13

walking around you know just testing it

1:15

with regular use and I did not feel

1:18

embarrassed once at least not more than

1:21

usual and I think the design language

1:23

that they've gone for here um is just

1:24

really solid across the board it does

1:26

also have a cup swivel all the way so

1:28

you can lay it flat if you want to it

1:30

does pick up some uh smudges a little

1:32

bit when you when you hold it but uh if

1:34

you have dry hands that shouldn't be a

1:35

problem there's a little bit of tilt

1:37

that you get here um so that's all

1:39

really good you can fold it and then the

1:41

ear cups are not round it's nice that

1:44

ear cups it's nice when ear cups and

1:46

pads specifically aren't round because

1:48

ears aren't round uh I do find the ear

1:50

opening to be a little bit on the small

1:52

side let me just show you how this

1:53

measures given that it is asymmetrical I

1:55

don't know how accurate a result that's

1:57

going to be but I didn't find that this

1:59

would you know Crush my P into the side

2:01

of my head so that's nice uh one little

2:04

criticism here is that um it is a little

2:07

bit on the shallow side so my ear did

2:10

rub up a little bit against some of this

2:12

material here uh when wearing it so like

2:14

let me just pop it on and I don't know

2:16

if you'll you can't really see this

2:18

because it's inside but like right now

2:19

when I'm wearing it this part this part

2:21

that sticks out in my ear touches the

2:23

inside of the of the cup and so if

2:27

you're really sensitive to that that

2:28

might be something to consider uh but I

2:30

didn't find it to be overly

2:31

uncomfortable as a result and also the

2:34

build here feels uh exceptional this

2:36

feels really sturdy really solid I was

2:39

just comparing this like to the FT1

2:40

recently and like it's no contest here

2:42

this is a much more sturdy feeling

2:45

device so with the sound quality there

2:47

are some things to know here so the base

2:49

here it is elevated it is boosted by a

2:51

considerable amount but it's not done in

2:53

a stupid way a lot of the products that

2:55

come out with boosted Bas like the ones

2:57

that you see from Bose or you know the a

3:00

lot of the ANC headphones that I've

3:01

actually been evaluating recently even

3:02

the high-end ones will just have this

3:04

enormous base shelf that starts way too

3:07

high up in frequency that's not what you

3:09

get with this and while this doesn't

3:11

give it a really Punchy or dynamic sound

3:14

so much or like tight or tactile sound

3:17

um it's it's way too boomy for that it

3:19

doesn't it also doesn't crowd out the

3:21

mid-range or you know bleed over into

3:24

kind of that muffled territory but at

3:26

the same time the mids are totally

3:29

obscured by just a absolutely wacky

3:32

frequency response and absolutely

3:33

bizarre tuning for this headphone that

3:36

doesn't make any sense for how human

3:37

hearing actually works so just

3:39

subjectively when I put it on I do this

3:41

all before measuring the headphones to

3:43

get a sense of how things sound and

3:45

right away this is another one where I

3:47

knew that there were going to be major

3:48

issues within the frequency response um

3:51

just by listening to it right so this

3:52

has nothing to do with the actual

3:53

connectivity going on this has

3:55

everything to do with the frequency

3:56

response um the connectivity that's

3:58

that's not an issue with modern uh you

4:01

know competent ANC headphones for that

4:03

part of the design now we'll get into

4:05

the measurements here in a moment and I

4:06

think some people think oh be dynamic

4:09

usually has brighter headphones and the

4:12

you know if you don't like brighter

4:13

headphones you're not going to like the

4:14

be Dynamic Sound that's not what's going

4:16

on with this this is actually not

4:18

similar at all uh to the other be

4:21

dynamic headphones that you might be a

4:22

little bit more familiar with really

4:24

very little about it is good it is just

4:28

not not how sound should be flat out

4:32

period and to demonstrate what I'm

4:33

talking about here let's get into the

4:34

data uh but just before I do as usual

4:37

all these videos are made possible by

4:38

headphones.com if you want to learn

4:40

about some of the things that I'm

4:41

talking about here make sure you check

4:42

out some of the articles that are up on

4:44

headphones.com where we talk about the

4:46

reasons why uh we evaluate this way and

4:49

also it gives you a good foundation for

4:52

understanding the data a little bit more

4:53

I'll also leave some videos there um if

4:55

you want to kind of get a primer on what

4:57

contributes to good sound quality and

4:59

head phones a lot of this has to do with

5:01

basically you know the the fact that

5:03

human beings have ears that are

5:05

generally human ear shaped ears are

5:07

different so there is a subjective

5:09

component to this but ears are still

5:11

recognizable as ears the same way that

5:12

hands are recognizable as hands and feet

5:15

are recognizable his feet let's not go

5:16

there but without further Ado let's get

5:17

into the data here and I will show you

5:19

guys what I'm talking about so with the

5:21

eventho 300 you can see that there is uh

5:24

a bit of a base bump there in the mid

5:25

base I don't really penalize these

5:28

headphones that much for that and also

5:30

the other thing to consider is that on

5:32

different heads this feature is going to

5:34

change a little bit here you can see

5:36

that there is a seal going on but you

5:38

know depending on how this fits on the

5:40

person's head maybe if a person wears

5:42

glasses um that may change a bit I did

5:44

not measure any leakage compensation

5:46

effects going on with this that's

5:47

sometimes very difficult to actually

5:49

identify um but I I didn't notice it in

5:52

my testing so it might not be there um

5:55

and if that's the case um you are going

5:56

to have some variability there in the

5:58

base for close back back headphones I

6:00

mean then we would sort of treat this as

6:01

a closed back headphone for leakage

6:03

effects so in general I would say that

6:05

the mids here are actually solid all the

6:07

way up until you get to around uh the

6:09

ear gain region so this is the upper

6:11

mid-range uh this is where the ear

6:13

amplifies frequencies the most strongly

6:15

and there are actually certain standards

6:17

here for where the ear gain should be

6:19

for human beings and it is not where the

6:21

rise here is on this headphone and this

6:23

is it's basically the opposite of what

6:25

you would want for ear game um and this

6:28

is what causes it to sound incred

6:29

inedibly disjointed completely

6:31

incoherent and just compressed across

6:34

the board you have a substantial

6:35

resonance here around 2 khz that

6:38

dominates over where the ear gain should

6:40

be um where the ear typically amplifies
