presentation number one we're going to

discuss

integumentary scenarios number two

musculoskeletal and number three

respiratory yes in this

class in this group study we are going

to learn how to solve multiple choice

case studies for the cpc exam case

studies in fact at the same time we're

going to show you how to break

down these

large scenarios we are going to help you

not be intimidated no way i promise by

the end of this four week session you

will be

amazing i know it all right so here are

the steps step one you have to highlight

your key terms

in

this class we use

this method

if it's yellow

you'll use that for your diagnoses your

highlight in yellow

you'll use green for all procedures and

pink for anything inclusive so if you

don't want to be redundant so pink if

it's already said put it in pink if it's

bundled put it in pink

number two

document your inventory your procedures

diagnoses signs and symptoms then you

select your principal principal

diagnosis or first listed diagnosis

principle procedure

step three review review all guidelines

in step four select the code the best

matches your inventory list

highlight your key terms yellow green

pink

number two you're going to inventory

we've been doing this in class write

down your diagnosis signs and symptoms

and procedures then select which are

principal

or

first listed in this case i think first

listed is more appropriate

number three review guidelines for

select the code that best matches your

inventory

now as we've gone through this

um

group study we've kind of

nailed or identified some things that

you don't need to highlight at all the

reason you don't need to

it's because you're not going to code

for it and that means that's time

saved so number one don't highlight

things observed by the physician

number two don't highlight closures such

as sutures staples etc and i'm saying

closures now you will um code a suture

if that is the treatment but if you're

just closing the surgical site you don't

highlight it unless it's for an

integumentary

procedure number three hemostasis or

bleed control number four drains

surgical drains

five don't highlight irrigation of the

surgical site

number six don't highlight installation

and removal of clamps and trow cars

these items actually open up or help the

surgical site stay in place or they help

retain you know

or keep it open so that the um surgeon

can see the surgical site

number seven dressings don't highlight

don't highlight those and don't

highlight surgical risks
