FULL TRANSCRIPT

0:00

a lot of critically important new

0:01

details out about the Blackhawk

0:04

helicopter that crashed into the

0:05

American Airlines flight just last night

0:09

killing approximately 67 individuals

0:12

with no survivors in this video we'll go

0:15

through some Air Traffic Control Data

0:17

and some looks at approach plates and

0:20

different angles of this incident we're

0:23

going to hear exactly what was going on

0:25

in just the moments before the crash

0:27

we'll also talk about like causes as we

0:31

did last night uh in this video since

0:33

I'm also going to be covering financial

0:34

news I will also be talking about the

0:37

disaster that was the UPS earnings

0:40

release this morning and who actually a

0:42

big beneficiary seems to be of this uh

0:45

hint it's another stock caterpillars not

0:48

doing that great and of course on the

0:50

channel we did Cover Tesla meta and

0:52

Microsoft yesterday but we will in honor

0:55

of the deep seek week drama cover more

0:58

of the deep seek drama we've also got to

1:01

talk about the European Central Bank and

1:03

some pce data that we got this morning

1:05

but first at 8:47 p.m yesterday a flight

1:10

uh the American Airlines flight uh that

1:13

we've all now unfortunately heard about

1:16

uh crashed it was the American Airlines

1:19

flight 5342 operated by PSA Airlines uh

1:24

and it is expected that absolutely

1:26

everyone died now the question is why

1:29

did a Blackhawk helicopter with three uh

1:33

crew members crash into the American

1:35

Airlines flight well we do now know that

1:39

the helicopter flight was on a training

1:42

flight and took off from around the area

1:45

of Langley Virginia and follow the pomac

1:48

river down which is not uncommon that a

1:51

helicopter would follow either a highway

1:53

or river uh in fact it's so common that

1:56

people even post videos uh on X

2:01

showcasing uh helicopters flying over

2:04

the river at a low level during the same

2:07

time planes are taking off take a look

2:10

at this uh and then you get a little bit

2:11

more perspective of the area there uh

2:14

and what it looks like it it is an

2:16

interesting site to say the least uh

2:19

here you go this is an example of a

2:22

flight taking off and you can see uh two

2:26

what appear to be Blackhawk helicopters

2:28

here which you could carry as many as

2:29

about 30

2:30

uh crew members or individuals taking

2:33

off and you can see how shallow and

2:36

Marshy the pomac is here uh well you get

2:39

ice there it's at some levels 7 ft deep

2:42

at some levels it's only waste deep so

2:45

uh thanks Kyle for that shot there uh

2:47

it's it's not a very deep set of water

2:49

which is also unfortunate because well I

2:52

mean frankly whether it was water or not

2:54

might not matter but when you're falling

2:56

out of the sky at about 350 ft which is

2:59

the elevation it appears the accident

3:01

took place at you're going straight down

3:04

from a 30 story building it is quite a

3:06

drop uh but what's also very important

3:09

here is why did the helicopter not

3:13

maintain separation from the plane if

3:17

the helicopter on Air Traffic Control

3:20

Data indicated they had the plane in

3:23

sight what I'm going to do is I'm going

3:24

to play for you the Air Traffic Control

3:26

Data and then I'll show you what may

3:28

have been on the air traffic control

3:29

screens at the time of the incident and

3:32

I want you to listen closely to these

3:34

comms right here so here's Pat which is

3:37

priority Air transport 25 uh the

3:40

military is confirming that this was a

3:42

training flight they did have night

3:43

vision goggles on board it's unclear if

3:45

they were being used uh and that there

3:47

were no senior US military officials on

3:49

board this is what they say now having

3:51

night vision goggles worth noting could

3:54

narrow your field of view substantially

3:56

this it's just going to take you down

3:57

and kind of kill your peripheral and and

4:00

narrow you down to only about a 40° view

4:03

which is a lot less than obviously what

4:06

you would otherwise have which isn't

4:07

great because if you look at a Blackhawk

4:09

helicopter you actually have uh just

4:12

type in uh you know to YouTube or or

4:15

whatever black uh Blackhawk helicopter

4:19

uh cockpit and uh you can see there's

4:22

actually quite a bit of visibility that

4:25

you could get out of the sides uh of

4:28

these I'm trying to get a good side

4:30

profile picture here this one's decent

4:33

uh so uh this is just so shows you some

4:35

of the side windows over here here's

4:37

another example of a side window uh here

4:40

for example the front windows and uh you

4:43

even have Windows uh I mean there there

4:46

some controls right in the center of it

4:48

here but you have Windows up to your

4:50

left and up to your right as well

4:52

depending on which seat you're sitting

4:53

in which also becomes important because

4:56

mind you if this was a training flight

4:59

then the more experienced pilot was

5:01

probably on the right side and the

5:05

trainee was probably on the left side

5:08

okay why is that so important well

5:10

remember this helicopter probably didn't

5:13

see a plane descending from the left

5:16

from the trainee side so to me it's more

5:20

and more starting to look like this was

5:21

a training accident a failure of of

5:24

training but uh let's go hit for a

5:27

moment that uh that air traffic control

5:31

commentary we hear and glean some

5:33

insights here so Pat priority Air

5:35

transport 25 here's the American

5:37

Airlines PSA Flight let's

5:40

[Applause]

5:43

listen flight okay that was Pat

5:47

25 do you have the crj in sight okay

5:51

that's the Bombadier uh model of playing

5:54

here the crj I believe it was 700 Okay

5:57

let's listen to that again just so you

5:58

can hear that a little more clearly

6:09

separation okay aircraft Insight that's

6:13

affirmative request visual separation

6:16

okay so basically the pilot is saying

6:19

hey I got them we're good we're not

6:22

going to crash into them you good if we

6:24

just stay visually separated that's a

6:27

way of saying hey air traffic control I

6:30

got him in sight I'll handle the

6:32

separation you cool with that that's as

6:34

opposed to air traffic control saying yo

6:36

Pat turn turn you know left heading XYZ

6:41

to get away from that other plane hey uh

6:44

uh you know descend climb whatever

6:47

giving some form of collision avoidance

6:50

instruction because the pilot uh uh

6:54

Captain said hey I've got visual uh

6:58

separation or or you will you okay if I

7:00

maintain that visual separation it's

7:02

likely here you could actually see

7:05

potentially what it looked like from an

7:06

air traffic point of view but anyway

7:07

it's likely that air traffic Point

7:10

control is like all right he's got him

7:12

in sight because look at this you got

7:13

the Collision advisory flashing alarms

7:16

would be going off right now at Air

7:18

Traffic Control uh this is the runway uh

7:22

anyway uh you've got uh clearly them are

7:24

coming closer together here I want you

7:26

to see these altitudes here the pat at

7:28

200 look looks like they're actually

7:30

climbing uh and then the crj700 at 400

7:34

climbing uh or sorry descending and

7:36

there you go now they're both at 300 so

7:39

you got the helicopter coming up and the

7:42

plane coming

7:43

down they and then if you got night

7:45

vision goggles on how how the heck are

7:47

they supposed to see each

7:49

other but wait a minute why then did the

7:52

helicopter pilot say hey I got him in

7:54

sight well probably because he had the

7:58

wrong

8:00

in sight and and and shout out to uh the

8:03

individual who texted me this morning a

8:05

military uh pilot who suggested much the

8:09

same that he had the wrong bird in sight

8:11

let's look at uh exactly this right here

8:13

take a look at this this was um this is

8:15

departing traffic right here this is our

8:18

incident aircraft right the helicopter's

8:21

going this way what if it's possible

8:24

he's like oh yeah I see that plane

8:25

taking off we're good we're so good why

8:29

don't you let us handle the

8:31

separation oops watch that again and

8:34

then I want to give you another profile

8:35

view and show you the approach plate

8:36

here's the helicopter coming in probably

8:38

has this one in sight because look at

8:40

this at this level it seems like you're

8:42

so far away why would he be talking

8:43

about that plane right but look how low

8:45

this plane is here it's literally just

8:48

now taking off now you might think that

8:50

this plane is right in front of this

8:52

helicopter I actually don't think it is

8:54

I think this plane is substantially

8:56

behind the field of view of the

8:58

helicopter the helicopter is looking out

9:00

and to the right oh yeah we got the

9:02

plane in sight no problem request visual

9:06

separation oh

9:11

crap yeah so what could that look like

9:15

well let's look at an actual plate here

9:17

for a moment uh

9:19

so um this is uh we'll look at that

9:22

Arnav in just a moment what you see is

9:25

this okay this is what you see on the

9:28

video and it's like bro how could you

9:29

not see that plane it's a giant white

9:31

light okay but wait a minute you know

9:33

what that giant white light is that's

9:35

not the position light of the plane

9:38

that's not that's not the the light of

9:40

the plane that that helicopter sees like

9:42

to us we're like goodness gracious how

9:45

could you miss that look at that giant

9:47

light but you know what those lights are

9:49

those are the landing lights and they

9:51

only point

9:53

forward so that that helicopter was not

9:57

seeing those giant Flash lights uh in

10:01

fact uh at night let's do a position

10:04

Light plane uh this is going to be the

10:08

uh right wing so we're going to have a

10:10

little green light uh at most I got a

10:15

picture of a red one here that would be

10:16

pretty good uh at most what you're

10:20

really going to see I'll just show the

10:22

red one this is the wrong side uh since

10:25

the red is the left and the helicopter

10:28

would have seen the green light but I'll

10:30

just show this just so you could see it

10:32

take a look at this this is really more

10:36

uh just that red light what you would

10:37

have seen uh and then of course there's

10:39

a flashing strobe as well but the

10:43

landing light is the one in the front uh

10:46

and so from the side you're seeing

10:48

substantially fewer lights It's Kind

10:51

like with the exception of the strobes

10:53

that are you know flashing

10:55

intermittently The Landing lights that

10:57

you see are these but that's again

10:59

pointed forward it's almost purposefully

11:02

designed not to shine sideways to Blind

11:05

other people uh so uh let's see side

11:10

view aircraft at night to try usually

11:13

you could see planes pretty well at

11:15

night I personally like flying at night

11:18

as a pilot because I actually find it

11:21

easier to see traffic but there are some

11:24

Logistics here as to why this was

11:26

probably harder and you're going to see

11:28

that on this iPad drawing okay so the

11:31

position lights are forward you've got

11:34

uh the heli which is this green line

11:36

coming straight over right uh and then

11:39

you in the picture that we see we see

11:41

this other red you know uh uh plane

11:44

taking off that looks like it's so much

11:46

higher it starts obviously lower but

11:49

from this angle we can't really see what

11:51

it really looks like my assumption is it

11:54

actually looks like this from a top down

11:56

view so if you look at this top down

11:58

you've You' got a helicopter slightly

12:02

climbing right here potentially even

12:04

speeding up like trying to get past the

12:06

airport traffic hey got him in sight

12:09

yeah man we got him in sight Air Traffic

12:11

Control we got him in sight request

12:13

visual separation they're pointing at

12:15

this guy they've got night vision

12:17

goggles on so their view is a disaster

12:22

uh they're probably when they're over

12:24

here and they had a chance of seeing the

12:26

plane turning and coming in it was proba

12:29

probably substantially higher than them

12:32

uh which again I technically should be

12:34

drawing from this side right because the

12:36

plane is coming in for a descent like

12:38

this uh and so it's substantially higher

12:41

than them uh and then you've got night

12:43

vision goggles obscuring your vision and

12:46

the plane basically as you're climbing

12:50

kind of just comes down and almost it's

12:53

it's on its Landing path worst case

12:56

scenario it's in your blind spot

12:58

basically uh and and almost looks like

13:00

it lands on top of you uh but really

13:03

it's more that the helicopter crashes

13:05

into the side of it I think it might be

13:06

a little bit easier to just again

13:09

visualize that and then I want to show

13:11

you the approach plate here visualize

13:13

that like this so you've got a Hilo uh

13:16

will make this this cup will be the

13:18

helicopter okay I don't have a

13:20

helicopter model so the plane comes in

13:25

uh turns in like this notice how the

13:28

cockpit is facing away right in the turn

13:31

in the bank from the helicopter you

13:34

level out you're coming in like this the

13:37

plane is actually descending like this

13:41

and the helicopter is like yeah we got

13:43

that plane way over there we got that

13:46

plane in sight no problem at all you

13:48

watching that plane you watching that

13:50

plane you watching that

13:52

PL especially with those night vision

13:56

goggles and no guarantees that they were

13:58

we ing them but we we are aware that

14:00

they were on board

14:04

now look something else uh to pay

14:07

attention to here uh is the rnav

14:11

approach uh for this uh uh for this

14:15

airport we're going to look at that uh

14:17

Runway 33 here so uh what I want you to

14:22

think about here is we have an approach

14:27

that comes along this River over here uh

14:30

there's an initial approach fix this is

14:32

where you're going to start uh getting

14:35

ready to descend and prepare for your

14:37

landing and then you have a Final

14:39

Approach fix after which you basically

14:42

go visual you assume that air traffic

14:44

control is got has got you cleared and

14:48

you're going to descend through all

14:50

altitudes to go land here so there

14:53

really wasn't a floor after that Final

14:56

Approach fix nzi there really wasn't a

14:59

floor that the plane shouldn't go below

15:02

so you've got 1 1700 at nzi you're just

15:04

trying to follow a typical slope down to

15:07

the runway typically 3° of slope so from

15:12

here there's no mandated minimum

15:15

altitude it's just follow this at a 3°

15:19

slope over turn and go land on the

15:24

runway you use the river so you could

15:26

avoid this 400t OB 440 obstacle over

15:30

here the 260

15:33

obstacle and then you land of course the

15:36

helicopter as we saw came from over here

15:39

uh and collided uh with uh the plane now

15:44

uh there is another angle that we could

15:45

take a look at as well uh that other

15:48

angle is right here uh we'll play that

15:51

one more time right

15:55

here there you go uh it's uh it's just

16:00

terrible it's just

16:02

absolutely terrible uh and um I I think

16:07

this will just go down unfortunately as

16:10

a terrible training accident this was

16:12

the flight path of the helicopter uh it

16:15

is possible that they did not have their

16:17

adsb

16:18

broadcasting uh however they should be

16:21

showing up on radar and I want to

16:23

explain what that looks like with uh

16:25

traffic and what I've learned as a pilot

16:28

uh what not to do and I think it's very

16:30

very important now first I just want to

16:32

disclose that look I'm a newer pilot

16:34

I've got about 150 160 hours with about

16:37

400 Landings uh I'm working my

16:40

instrument rating I've got my check ride

16:41

coming up from my instrument rating in

16:43

in a few weeks here uh and one of the

16:45

things that I find with trainers just

16:48

worth talking about is that typically

16:50

the way it works is the most experienced

16:52

trainers end up going on to either in my

16:55

opinion doing Missions at the military

16:57

or they end up going on to guess what uh

17:01

go fly at the airlines so the point of

17:04

that is you you usually don't have the

17:07

most experienced people training you uh

17:10

the downside of that is I feel like

17:12

you're often getting people who get the

17:15

bare minimum number of hours to be a

17:17

trainer about 250 hours and then they're

17:19

the ones training other people so you

17:22

don't usually get the most experienced

17:24

people just because of the way that

17:26

Aviation works and I Reg L hear people

17:29

tell me in training oh don't worry when

17:32

you're flying your Final Approach fix on

17:35

those approach plates like I just showed

17:36

you uh air traffic control is

17:39

maintaining separation for you you don't

17:41

have to worry about it and every single

17:44

time I say well guess what I got seven

17:46

kids and I'm worried about it so what I

17:50

have is I have an iPad I have a phone I

17:52

have a senty and obviously all of the um

17:55

uh you know g3000 Electronics in front

17:57

of me on the flight deck uh and what I

17:59

like to do is I like to actually ask Air

18:03

Traffic Control hey are you talking

18:06

about XYZ tail number so for example if

18:10

I come in for a landing I might look at

18:12

my iPad which shows me all these little

18:14

triangles and this isn't a an exact

18:16

example but let's just say uh that right

18:20

here uh these triangles you see there

18:22

one 2 three in a row right let's say

18:26

that I'm the third arrow on the right I

18:28

will say or I'll usually hear from Air

18:30

Traffic Control hey you know 816

18:33

whatever whatever your number three to

18:34

land behind the uh Cessna that's number

18:38

two in front of you and I'll click on

18:41

the triangle that I think they're

18:42

talking about and I'll say I'll look at

18:45

it and go say the tail number ends in

18:47

pee PE okay I'll say to air traffic

18:50

control hey Air Traffic Control just

18:52

confirming uh I'm following uh the

18:55

number two with tail number PE PE right

18:58

they'll confirm affirmative yep you're

19:00

following blah blah blah blah number two

19:03

you're number three got it I'm number

19:05

three that's typically what I do and

19:07

I'll do that on instrument approaches as

19:09

well because I don't want any of these

19:12

triangles coming anywhere close to me

19:14

now is it possible that the helicopter

19:16

didn't even show up as a triangle yes

19:18

because the Blackhawks don't have to

19:21

transmit the adsb data uh now they will

19:24

generally show up on radar though

19:26

especially around airports when what

19:28

happens is airports will pick him up on

19:30

radar and then broadcast that out and

19:32

we'll pick him up so there should have

19:33

been a triangle but nobody's trained to

19:36

look at traffic on finals so it's very

19:39

unlikely that the plane was or the

19:41

pilots were trained or expected to pay

19:44

attention to traffic once they were

19:45

cleared of land because everybody in

19:47

training always says once you're cleared

19:49

of land don't worry about it and I'm

19:50

like I'm worried about it uh and I just

19:53

think that's a big failure in the

19:55

aviation Community uh but anyway uh

19:58

Beyond that you've also then got a

20:01

helicopter that is misidentifying which

20:04

plane they're talking about right so

20:06

this is how you end up with a disaster a

20:08

cluster F and a lot of dead people and

20:10

it's absolutely miserable so I'm very

20:12

very sad uh and saddened by this uh but

20:16

hopefully a lot of people can learn from

20:18

this and we never end up seeing this

20:19

this again

20:21

anyway that's it for the aviation

20:24

disaster my heart goes out to the

20:26

families that are affected apparently a

20:27

lot of younger uh skaters were affected

20:30

like ice skaters uh training for the

20:32

2030 Olympics just so sad so sad anyway

20:36

uh this morning we got some uh us uh USA

20:40

um I can't even speak anymore we we got

20:42

some uh GDP numbers for Q4 they came in

20:45

a little lighter than expected 2.3

20:46

versus 2.6 nobody cares it's above 2%

20:49

nobody's going to Care initial claims

20:50

were better than expected at 207 versus

20:52

225 continuing uh actually down the

20:55

continuing claims were down from last

20:57

week where they had spiked over over 1.9

20:59

for a moment so actually a good thing uh

21:02

then you've got the European Central

21:03

Bank cut rates by 50 basis points uh

21:05

people are still cheering that Microsoft

21:07

and meta didn't lower their capex more I

21:09

think this is misguided I've talked

21:11

about it before I'll keep talking about

21:12

it it's it's way too uh how should I say

21:16

um it's it's way too early to say oh uh

21:21

yeah look Microsoft and meta they

21:23

haven't reduced their uh uh their capex

21:26

yet this is this means uh they don't

21:29

actually care about deep seek and my

21:31

response to this is um no they actually

21:34

do really care and it's way too early to

21:38

expect to see capex adjustments here uh

21:41

so that's just my take we'll watch this

21:43

SoftBank now apparently in talks to

21:45

invest 15 to 25 billion into open AI

21:47

it's unclear if those talks started

21:49

before deep seek probably uh and so I

21:52

don't know if they'll actually end up

21:53

going through with that but that would

21:54

make them the largest investor in uh

21:56

open AI larger than Microsoft at 14

21:58

though they'll have a lower stake

22:01

because Microsoft got in at a lower

22:03

valuation although after deep seek that

22:05

valuation probably is a lot lower uh

22:07

regarding uh Donald Trump and tariffs

22:10

apparently according to Bloomberg and

22:11

what people are hearing on the hill uh

22:13

the Trump team is still trying to quote

22:15

figure out what to do that new tariffs

22:17

have been threatened but they haven't

22:18

arrived yet Trump has given a deadline

22:20

of February 1st for 25% in tariffs on

22:22

Canada and Mexico 60% on China but he's

22:25

already walked back the China ones after

22:27

talks with Cen ping uh and we'll see

22:30

what happens on February 1st here the

22:32

treasury secretary bassent is focused on

22:35

a tax package and honestly I don't think

22:37

uh Trump is really going to follow

22:40

through with a lot of these tariffs they

22:42

mostly seem to be a negotiation tool

22:44

which is kind of exactly what everybody

22:46

well not everybody but a lot of people

22:47

were talking about before he became

22:48

president so I guess we'll keep an eye

22:50

on it UPS missed Revenue by 35 basis

22:53

points their capex came in at 35% though

22:57

versus expectations and uh their deal

22:59

with Amazon apparently has uh

23:02

expectations that Amazon is going to

23:04

lower volume with them for smaller

23:05

Parcels by up to 50% in the second half

23:08

of 2026 by the 20 second half of 2026

23:12

who seems to be winning from this by the

23:14

way because it's not UPS stock they're

23:16

down

23:17

14% in pre-market it actually seems to

23:20

be Walmart uh look at Walmart it's up

23:23

76% over the last year it's at all-time

23:26

highs uh literally right now uh and

23:29

apparently Walmart's monthly active

23:31

users were up 11.7% in December with the

23:34

monthly active users just basically

23:36

going straight up you see that uh on

23:39

screen right here data compiled by

23:41

sensor Tower and Goldman Sachs here uh

23:45

uh and uh it seems like people Walmart

23:47

is sort of winning that whole like trade

23:49

down consumer or customer uh then you've

23:51

got caterpillar which also missed

23:53

revenue for q4x 3% and guided lower uh

23:58

this this q1 then uh last q1 their stock

24:02

is down

24:04

4.2% obviously we've also got uh

24:07

movement here on uh Tesla still up uh

24:11

nicely in the uh in the premarket still

24:14

up about 4% though it's been a little

24:16

volatile in the pre-market and uh yeah

24:20

so with that let's get into the Daily

24:22

Wealth of the day uh I want to touch on

24:25

uh a little story that I got from Jack

24:28

then the dad joke of the day so uh well

24:30

I guess it's less of a story it's sort

24:32

of more of a a tip from Jack so uh

24:35

Jack's tips this morning uh were that uh

24:39

you should not say bad words uh if you

24:43

do YouTube don't say bad words so more

24:45

people can watch also don't say bad

24:47

words in other jobs if you get mad if

24:50

you get mad get away from the

24:52

conversation or get away from the

24:53

problem also respect your teachers even

24:56

if they're not perfect themselves and

24:58

always be kind and honest well that was

25:01

very nice Jack uh then we've also got a

25:04

uh dad joke of the day which

25:06

is I told a joke on a zoom meeting

25:11

nobody

25:12

laughed it turns out I'm not even

25:14

remotely funny I not advertise these

25:17

things that you told us here I feel like

25:18

nobody else knows about this we'll we'll

25:20

try a little advertising and see how it

25:22

goes congratulations man you have done

25:23

so much people love you people look up

25:25

to you Kevin PA there financial analyst

25:27

and YouTube but meet Kevin always great

25:29
