NEW Luka Report Is HUGE For Lakers, Wolves Lose Jaden McDaniels
FULL TRANSCRIPT
The Wolves are getting Ant back, but
they suffer a huge loss. This could send
them tumbling in the standings in the
Western Conference. Plus, Luca, he's
done it again. Now we know why he's on
such a tear right now playing, dare I
say, MVP level basketball. I'm Trevor
Lane. This is the Basketball Bulletin.

the way till the end. Donnie, let's
start with Luca. Man, I gotta get on
that Luca diet. Reportedly, he has lost
seven more pounds. Good lord. I thought
he has looked skinnier. Do Do you Did
you have the same thoughts like watching
him lately? He's looked thinner.
Apparently, he's lost even more weight.
>> Yeah, he does. I saw him walking So,
like black is a pretty thinning color
just in general. Um, but I saw a video
of him walking around from I think it
was from Vando or something like that
and he looks super thin, right? and and
then there was another uh one of him and
he's not in black so the caveat's gone
and he again looks super thin. So like
this and then when you put the side by
side of last year guys we're pretty far
removed from it but Luca was very fat
comparatively
>> compared compared to what he is now.
>> Yeah. So he looks amazing man. So
hopefully nobody got upset at me for
admitting the truth but he had
>> Yeah. I mean there there so there's Luca
in the Vando gear.
>> Yeah. like he is he has really slimmed
down. So this was a story coming out of
uh Slovenia. This was from the Slovenian
Times apparently saying that that Luca
uh one of Luca's friends uh has said
Luca just told me the other day he has
lost another seven pounds on top of what
he already dropped this season. He is
now moving like a completely different
player. He feels light on his feet. His
explosiveness is back and most
importantly that stinging pain in his
right calf that troubled him so much
back in 2024 is completely gone. He says
he's fully healthy heading into the
playoffs and you can hear the confidence
in his voice. That first of all that's
that's exciting. Then he went on he told
me straight I'm dedicated to delivering
a championship to Los Angeles by any
means possible. Those were his exact
words. Whatever it takes, extra
training, sacrifices, pushing through
every challenge. He's all in. No more
excuses. He wants a ring for the city,
for his teammates, for the fans, and for
everyone back home who has supported
him, man. That
>> I love to hear it.
>> Music to our ears. Now, obviously, as
Lakers fans, that that's going to
particularly resonate with us, but that
that in terms of anybody who loves
basketball and loves players reaching
their peak, reaching their potential,
that is phenomenal to hear that Luca is
taking it taking it this seriously, that
he's dropped the weight, he's playing
some of the best basketball of his
career. Donnie, is this is this why he's
looked so much better defensively
lately? I think it's a part of it
because for Luca, it's not like it's the
first time he's thinned out, you know.
Um, he's gotten skinny before, but he
oftentimes will kind of rebound at least
some of the weight or things like that.
But I think that for him this season
specifically again, especially compared
to last season, which yes, Luca fans, I
hear you. He was hurt. Okay, I hear you.
>> There's reason for it.
>> I I mean, sort of. That doesn't mean
that you just got to consume 4,000
calories a day, but I digress. he was
hurt. So anyway, um that being said, um
when he came back, he was still playing
phenomenal when he was came back from
injury, but this is another level for
Luca. Um on both sides of the ball, the
shot making is insane. Easily one of the
best shot makers I've ever seen, period.
This guy is ridiculous. Um and he's he's
he's really been able to lock in, move
those feet, and engage in defense. I
think Luca was underrated on defense a
little bit in terms of being able to
guard bigger players, right? um he
always matched up pretty well with those
guys as well. So, I I think it's more
about being able to play out on the
perimeter defensively and he's getting
more steals. And a big thing for him I
think that was happening last season in
my opinion was like how I got to throw
those qualifiers in there. Um
>> don't start with qualifiers. That
that'll just get Luca stands mad at you.
>> Yeah. See see I'm trying I'm trying to
tow the line, man. uh the the line
between giving my opinion versus the
literal fact, right? Anyway, um I think
towards the my opinion I think that
towards the end of last season, he was
uh very clearly um burning out in in the
end of games, you know, fourth quarter,
I think he just his stamina wasn't
great, but that's not happened this
year. Lucas's been phenomenal, easily in
contention for MVP, higher than most of
these platforms have him, right? Um
>> come on, Chris Man.
>> He's been great, man. And I can't really
say anything bad about his play at all.
He's been amazing.
>> Yeah. I mean, he's going to win the
scoring title this year. I think that is
pretty much locked.
>> Yeah. But Luca needs to average 40
points, 10 assists, three steals to even
be number two on these.
>> No, not not 40. Austin said 60. He's got
to score 60.
>> It's true. They got a different set of
rules for Luca, man. He got
>> Luke's putting up Luca is putting up
like 48 and eight or whatever.
>> Yeah. Yeah. They don't care. He's
dropping. Yeah, he knows if he
>> he has a whole, you know, how they got
the Jordan rules, they got the Luca
rules, too.
>> Luka rules
>> where like they got a whole different
playbook for for where that standard is
for being an MVP contention and and some
of it's just, you know, the narrative
around him for his career is that he
doesn't play defense. And so these guys
get on and they just pair at that same
narrative. Yeah.
>> What can you do about that if they're
not going to
>> lock in and watch the games and they're
going to use team based metrics like
defensive rating which the Lakers don't
have a lot of great defensive players on
the team period.
>> So, you know, Luca him he's he's done
his part.
>> He's been he's been fantastic and the
defensive improvement has been what's
most impressive. But I mean he's
averaging 49% from the field, 39% from
three, 78% at the free throw line. Boy,
it feels like he's lower than 78% at the
free throw line because it seems like
they've been missing as a team quite a
bit lately. But, uh, playing 37 minutes,
that's probably a bit high, right? We've
talked a little bit about that, but the
the minutes are starting to creep up for
a lot of these players, but averaging 37
points per game.
>> And how about 2.3 steals and.7 blocks?
So, three stocks. This is over the last
15 games, he has been on an absolute
tear. But again, that's just the
counting stats. It's the defensive stuff
that's been the most impressive. So,
when we go to, you know, the report out
of Slovenia that Luca has indeed lost
another seven pounds on top of what he
already lost, like I buy it because
we're seeing it on the court. We're
seeing a different version of Luca
Donuch. And that is very, very exciting.
>> Yeah. And if he's if he the thing with
that is that like I said, he would
always kind of yo-yo um with losing
weight, gaining it a little bit back,
