hi we have another question here on ask

0:04

the expert and today's question is when

0:07

should you change your cutting disc okay

0:09

so there's three main reasons why you

0:11

need to change your cutting disc the

0:12

first one would be how warm the disc is

0:15

second would be the validity date of the

0:18

disc and last of all does the disc

0:20

contain any damage at all so uh the

0:23

first one uh disc size okay so you see

0:26

here I have a discount I wore down

0:28

earlier uh to quite a small diameter it

0:31

started out like this and now we have it

0:33

like this now there is actually no issue

0:35

where you can still put this on a

0:36

machine and cut with it it will still

0:38

cut but the issue with having such a

0:41

small dime with the disc is that the

0:44

penetration depth is really small so you

0:46

can only cut really really thin material

0:49

with this also the peripheral speed of

0:51

this disc will be much much lower than

0:54

it is when it's in a a bigger size like

0:56

this and therefore it would be very slow

0:58

uh at cutting so therefore quite

1:01

inefficient so best to change that out

1:03

to a new disc before you get as smaller

1:05

diameter as that now the second reason I

1:08

said was a validity date now when we

1:11

manufacture disks such as this on the

1:13

metal center ring we always stamp the

1:16

date of validity on there these discs

1:19

are have a validity of three years so

1:22

you can see on this disk we have a year

1:25

2025 which it will expire and we also

1:29

have a month on here as well which is

1:31

v07 and that stands for in July of 2025

1:35

this disc has expired and therefore

1:38

should not be used and last of all

1:41

damage so before you use a disc on an

1:44

angle grinder even when it's already

1:45

mounted on the angle grinder before you

1:47

start the machine and start your cutting

1:49

always check the disk for any damage any

1:52

cracks anything wrong with the periphery

1:54

of the disc before you use it if you see

1:57

any form of damage take the disc off

1:59

throw it in and use a new one it's

2:02

really as simple as that okay hope that

2:04

answers your questions any more

2:06

questions or comments put them in the

2:08

comments below and we'll get back to you

2:09

bye bye
