Chris Downey Lost His sight in 2008.
he designed this building so blind
people feel as at home in it as everyone
else these three floors are really
specifically about that blind experience
all the subtleties and and sort of the
lives you have through the experience of
thinking about the Acoustics
understanding a space through sound
through touch
[Music]
subtle design points are everywhere high
contrast colors guide visitors around
unfamiliar pieces of furniture and
handrails designed to feel beautiful at
a sense of care a lot of effort goes
into the how the environment sounds a
lot of things for the visual environment
to make it more visually accessible to
people with low vision conditions or
even sense of touch simple things like
having a hard surface on the ground on
the main circulation areas you can hear
where you are in the space there are
even things
I care where you can lean your cane a
little cane knots if you don't have that
you're like constantly trying to battle
with the King
