what is the most bogus charge you've

seen on a bill when my wife was pregnant

and in the hospital a doctor we had

never seen before casually walked into

the room with a group of student nurses

he asked if he could use my wife's case

to explain something about pregnancy and

we said okay he gently lifted the

blanket spoke for a moment about her

condition then the group walked out that

was totally fine with us it's a teaching

hospital until a bill showed up from his

office charging $180 for examining my

wife I called the office to complain he

didn't examine anything didn't write a

single note in her file and never

touched or even spoke to her he was

teaching students and already gets paid

well for that but the staff didn't seem

to care the doctor examined the manager

said that's what the charge is for I was

told to pay or face the consequences I

thought two can play this game so I

mailed the doctor a bill for $180 for

rental of a training model my wife the

office manager was angry what does this

mean she asked I said it was simple he

used my wife to train student nurses and

there's a fee for that too if he insists

it was a real exam we'll meet in small

claims court there I'll ask him to show

where in her records his exam notes can

be found not long after his lawyer

called offering to settle I said there's

nothing to settle drop the bill and I'll

drop mine I never heard back again
