FULL TRANSCRIPT

0:00

Good afternoon sir.

0:03

We are the editorial team of press plc

0:05

for the visual 2025 magazine and we are

0:09

here to interview

0:11

on behalf of the magazine and also to

0:14

get some words of a good history or

0:18

maybe some good words about the vision

0:19

2025

0:22

and for this interview is divided into

0:25

four parts. We have part one which is

0:27

the vision 2025 success.

0:30

The second part

0:32

the staff and culture vision 2025. The

0:36

third part challenges and learning for

0:38

vision 2025. And the fourth part is

0:41

looking ahead beyond vision 2025.

0:45

>> Thank you very much editorial team.

0:47

You're welcome and looking forward to an

0:49

enriching conversation with you people

0:52

that we hope will boost your write up as

0:57

you capture everything we have done in

1:00

order to achieve our vision 2025.

1:04

>> Thank you sir. So we go the first

1:07

question is what was the main goal of

1:10

our company's vision 2025 and how

1:13

successful have we been in reaching it?

1:17

you know um when we took over this

1:19

company in 201

1:23

18 end of 2018

1:25

we took over from a great leader we took

1:28

over from a great visionary person

1:32

our then general manager Mr. WA and

1:37

taking over from a founding father like

1:40

that, it was very important that we

1:43

carry on with a massive legacy.

1:46

And so in 2019, we had to set targets

1:50

that we wanted to achieve in order to

1:53

move this company from good to great.

1:57

And so vision 2025 in a nutshell was

2:00

setting the goals that we wanted to

2:03

achieve, where we wanted the company to

2:05

be by 2025.

2:08

And in that way we took a holistic

2:10

approach looking at where we wanted to

2:13

improve,

2:15

where we wanted to increase our

2:16

capacities and many other aspects of

2:19

vision 2025. and we set targets and

2:23

every year we have been able to measure

2:26

how far we have come in in terms of

2:29

achieving these objectives. So in a

2:32

nutshell that is what vision 2025 is all

2:35

about. And in that year we our vision

2:38

was grounded being a church institution

2:40

on Hagai chapter 2:9 which says the

2:45

glory of the present house shall be

2:46

greater than the glory of the former

2:48

house and in that place there shall be

2:50

peace. And so we took that also like a

2:54

statement of growth to grow from where

2:57

we were to a greater thing. In a

3:00

nutshell that is our vision 2025.

3:04

>> Wow that is so beautiful.

3:08

So still in a question one but part B.

3:11

How has vision 2025 facilitated the core

3:15

vision of press plc as a company?

3:19

Press print PLC was created you know

3:22

with core vision to support the church

3:26

with printed literature

3:29

and printed u Christian literature in

3:32

order to facilitate its work and mission

3:35

to God and to humanity. Then press print

3:38

also has it mission you know to print

3:41

various materials various aspects of

3:45

printing are part of our vision and so

3:49

in the year that we set vision 2025

3:53

press print we were involved mostly in

3:55

offset printing and our whole idea was

3:58

that we should be able to diversify the

4:01

company to include other aspects of

4:03

printing so that we can better serve the

4:06

population and also serve our church

4:09

because the PCC does not only involve in

4:12

Christian literature. The PCC they have

4:14

departments that use t-shirts, other

4:17

forms of booklets, fabric and all the

4:20

like and so the public also likewise. So

4:24

we set that vision that we wanted to

4:26

make press print a one-stop shop and the

4:29

whole idea was that we could include

4:32

other printing services and so far we

4:35

were able within this years to add the

4:37

serraphic printing unit. We added the

4:39

fabric unit and also we have improved on

4:42

the PDL to be also a CAT printer because

4:46

we print do CAT printing for different

4:49

institutions like the PA where we print

4:52

the student ID cards. So that is where

4:55

we are for now.

4:57

>> Wow. Fantastic.

5:00

Can you share one or two big company

5:02

wins or achievements since the vision

5:05

2025 plan started that you are most

5:08

proud of?

5:10

>> I think one of our greatest things had

5:12

been to create more jobs. first of all

5:16

to maintain the jobs that we had and to

5:18

create more jobs and I think you would

5:21

bear with me that we have been able to

5:23

create opportunities for different

5:26

people to come to press print and show

5:29

their talent and help the company to

5:32

move on. And then another big win we

5:34

have had is that we were able to open

5:38

the cereaphic printing unit and most

5:41

importantly the fabric printing unit. We

5:45

opened the first digital fabric printing

5:47

unit in subsaran Africa and it is a unit

5:51

that still has to improve but I think

5:53

that it is quite a milestone that we

5:56

have achieved so far and then also

5:58

keeping the unity of the company the

6:01

culture and the values for for me and I

6:05

think for the management of press sprint

6:07

and the staff that also is a great

6:10

achievement for us.

6:12

Excellent.

6:14

That's really great achievement for our

6:17

company. And how has freshman plc made

6:21

our customers experience better over the

6:24

last few years?

6:26

>> For the customer, what we have done is

6:28

that first of all, we have improved on

6:32

the physical environment. You'll bear

6:34

with me that years back our reception

6:37

and our marketing services the physical

6:39

environment is not the same. We have

6:42

improved on that so that customers are

6:45

accommodated in a more conducive

6:47

environment. Then also we have improved

6:51

on the aspect of delivery doortodoor

6:53

delivery. press print. Over the years,

6:56

we have faced the challenge of prices

6:58

and we have also worked on that so that

7:02

we are more affordable to our clients

7:05

and then we have worked very hard to

7:08

improve on the quality of our products

7:09

and the diversity of our product. So in

7:12

this way this is how we have tried to

7:15

improve our services to customers. And

7:17

then we have also instituted customer

7:21

feedback in that's most recently where

7:24

we try to know from our customers what

7:26

they feel of our services and in that

7:28

way we can improve our offerings to

7:31

them.

7:33

>> That is amazing truly is a home for

7:36

everyone. What changes in our printing

7:39

services have helped us become stronger

7:41

than other companies?

7:44

Well, I think if you look at for example

7:48

the offset printing, we have made a

7:51

great effort to automate the offset

7:54

printing. We migrated from the custom

7:58

marary unit speed master to the bigger

8:03

speed master machines and then we have

8:06

we also added some other machines that

8:10

have facilitated work here. And then

8:14

again we'll talk of the the fabric unit

8:17

that we have talked about and then the

8:19

the serraphic unit. I think that those

8:22

are aspects that have helped us to to

8:25

improve very much within our system.

8:29

>> That's excellent. How has the vision

8:32

2025 plan made things better for the

8:35

staff and team members at pressing PLC?

8:39

First of all, vision 2025 is a

8:41

collective effort involving both staff

8:44

and management. It is not a one person's

8:47

thing. If anywhere in press print, even

8:50

beyond press talk of vision 2025, the

8:53

collective response is we are moving on

8:56

and everybody being part of that

8:59

movement. I believe that we have moved

9:03

on together and we are at the point of

9:06

rounding up this vision together. Not

9:09

that there has not been challenges but I

9:11

think that at in a nutshell we have

9:15

progressed as a family. We have gone

9:18

through difficult moments as a family

9:20

and also our wins have been together. So

9:24

it is a vision that has not left anybody

9:27

behind.

9:30

>> Family they say it's at pressing plc. In

9:34

your opinion, what makes the culture at

9:37

Press Print special and different from

9:39

other companies?

9:41

>> Press Print has a culture that is much

9:44

more of a family-like kind of

9:47

organization.

9:49

I believe in press print we are one

9:51

another's keeper.

9:52

I believe in press print there is

9:55

solidarity

9:56

and then there's a strong sense of

9:58

purpose, there's a strong sense of

10:00

vision and it is collective. It is not

10:03

in the hands of a few people. I believe

10:06

also that press print has inclusivity

10:09

which means that everybody in press

10:11

print has the opportunity to excel in

10:15

their own corner, do their job and find

10:18

fulfillment.

10:20

In that way,

10:23

people from different tribes, people

10:25

from different parts of the country and

10:28

beyond, we can find our place here to

10:30

excel and feel like we are at home and

10:33

feel like we are one. I think that that

10:35

is what sets us apart.

10:38

>> Oh, that's amazing.

10:40

They say in life,

10:43

every experience there's challenges and

10:46

there are things to learn from.

10:49

still in a vision 2025 purpose? What was

10:52

the most difficult challenge the company

10:54

faced? Why working towards a vision 2025

10:58

and how did our team overcome it?

11:01

>> Thank you very much. I think every

11:03

vision has challenges and every company

11:07

faces challenges and press is not

11:09

exceptional.

11:11

If I can reflect very well, our most

11:14

difficult time has been during the

11:16

period of co

11:19

When COVID set in, we were in this

11:22

company for about 4 months. Basically,

11:25

no customer knocked at our doors. We had

11:30

a company to run. We had staff to cater

11:33

for and many other operations that we

11:36

still had to lead. The COVID period

11:39

still remains a memorable time of

11:41

challenge to us as a family, to us as a

11:44

company. But I think that during that

11:47

period also it also strengthened us as a

11:52

team because it was around the COVID

11:55

period that we had the full conception

11:59

to diversify our activities

12:02

and that was when it later in 2020. CO

12:06

started early 2020 and the COVID

12:09

reawakened our need to diversify and by

12:13

October 2020 we created the the the

12:18

serraphic unit because we saw the need

12:21

that staying in one activity in times of

12:24

crisis could crumble the company and so

12:27

we diversified and the fabric the

12:30

cereographic unit came into being.

12:34

That's a powerful one there. If you

12:37

could give one piece of advice to a new

12:39

employee joining Person today, what

12:43

would it be?

12:46

When I had my first job,

12:50

one of my friends fathers gave me my own

12:54

first piece of advice which I will give.

12:57

I have given to so many young people and

12:59

I still continue to give. It is the

13:02

advice of respect.

13:04

and humility.

13:06

He told me to respect everybody on the

13:08

job. Find a reason to respect everybody

13:11

you meet at work. Respect them because

13:14

they were there before you even one day

13:16

before. Those who come after you.

13:19

Respect them because they have come

13:21

after you. Respect somebody because

13:24

though you are colleagues, it's

13:26

somebody's sister, somebody's brother,

13:28

somebody's mother, somebody's father.

13:31

Respect them for their age because they

13:34

can be older than you. Respect the

13:37

younger person who is daring also to

13:39

work and earn a living. Find a reason to

13:41

respect and stay humble. The higher you

13:45

go, the humbler you should become.

13:50

>> That's great for an African man right

13:52

there. Now that we are celebrating

13:54

division 2025,

13:57

what is the next big goal or project for

13:59

President PC in the future?

14:02

Oh,

14:04

the

14:06

today I was just writing about I was

14:09

just writing out some few lines

14:12

trying to inspire myself and one of the

14:15

lines I wrote for self is that to every

14:20

cross there is a crown

14:22

and to every crown another cross.

14:26

And so the human cycle is cross, crown,

14:30

cross, crown until we bow out and wear

14:33

the crown of glory.

14:36

So we have gone through the cross of

14:40

carrying the burden of vision 2025

14:44

and you people are here because it is a

14:47

time where we want to celebrate the

14:49

vision no matter the odds. We have gone

14:52

through it. The fact that we are alive

14:55

is already an achievement of itself in

14:57

vision 2025. Before you put in the

14:59

figures, whether we experience growth,

15:02

whether we improved, the fact that

15:04

people are alive now is an achievement.

15:08

So

15:10

with life there is hope, with life there

15:14

is a tomorrow. So we are looking forward

15:16

therefore to setting another pace for

15:19

vision 2030

15:21

where we are building a massive vision

15:25

that we want to grow this company even

15:29

two times what it is now where we want

15:32

to experience

15:35

a greater deal of what we had

15:36

experienced during the time of vision

15:39

2025.

15:41

So yes, beyond 2025,

15:44

we are setting another five-year project

15:47

and this also will have different

15:49

activities that we hope will stamp press

15:52

print as the leading printing house in

15:55

subsahara and Africa.

15:57

>> Wow.

15:59

What is your final message for all press

16:02

print staff and stakeholders as we

16:05

celebrate this important moment?

16:07

First of all, I want to thank the church

16:10

administration for trusting us with a

16:13

massive responsibility like this to lead

16:17

one of the PCC's biggest entrepreneurial

16:20

ventures.

16:23

Our greatest thanks to our board members

16:27

who have supported us in the decisions

16:29

they have made to guide management in

16:32

the day-to-day running of this company.

16:35

Then I give a big shout out to staff of

16:38

press print. Without them there is no

16:41

press print and I always say that to

16:44

management the staff are king and

16:47

queens.

16:48

So I want to thank them sincerely for

16:51

everything they have done for their

16:52

dedication.

16:54

Those who have worked long hours those

16:57

who have worked and has sweated to see

16:59

this company move. those who have

17:02

achieved the great things that this

17:04

company is known for. I want to say a

17:07

big thank you to them for all the

17:10

challenges we have endured together

17:13

because it has not been a perfect

17:15

journey. We have endured a lot together.

17:18

I want to say thank you to them and most

17:21

especially also it is an honor to have

17:24

the kind of customers that we have.

17:27

I want to give a big shout out to all

17:29

our customers, the mega companies that

17:32

are printing with us, to the individuals

17:35

who walk in and print with us and are

17:38

proud of our services.

17:40

We want to tell them a big thank you.

17:43

And to the community of Limbe that is

17:45

hosting press print, we want to thank

17:48

them for being our hosts, our first

17:51

security, our first customers. And we

17:54

know that our partnership will last as

17:57

long as this company is open. So we want

18:01

to thank all the stakeholders and wish

18:04

them well as they continue to partner

18:06

with us into vision 2030.

18:11

>> Thank you so much for having us here. We

18:13

have come to the end of this interview.

18:16

On behalf of the editorial team, we say

18:18

thank you and we wish you a very

18:20

beautiful day.

18:21

>> Thank you people very much. wish you a

18:24

happy 2025

18:26

and also God's blessings into 2026.

18:29

Thank you very much.
