How Trauma Can Paralyze You
FULL TRANSCRIPT
people with a history of trauma have
something called a paralysis of
initiation they are not self-starters
and why are they not self-starters
because they've lived in a world where
their goal is not accomplishment their
goal is survival and when your goal is
survival you build an organism that is
reactive you know let's say you're
playing a football or soccer match
people with a history of PTSD and
complex PTSD there's like your forward
right their job is to go and win points
the goalie's job is to protect against
what comes in and the problem in trauma
is that some people are just goalies so
this creates the experience of just
existing and it feels like you're just
waiting for the next bad thing to happen
and your dayto day is like can I survive
the next storm can I survive the next
storm can I survive the next storm
