i'm getting cancelled

i just got threatened by an attorney and

i had to delete my last video

so i i wanted to just fill you in on

what's going on

this is like it's very frustrating

so here's the thing many of you know

well first of all you know me as meet

kevin

and there's an election coming up i'm

running for governor in california to

try to fix the madness that's going on

in california you all know that

and in the 2003 recall election

there was a ballot well the ballot right

and what happens is

if folks have a nickname they could put

their nickname like charles's nickname

chuck so he goes by chuck or robert

had a nickname of butch here or uh

here's somebody else uh daniel

goes by danny or here's one kurt goes by

his stage name

tachicazi rightmeyer so his name is kurt

reitmeyer but he goes as a sumo wrestler

stage named

takikaze and so this is what they put on

on the ballot right so nicknames can be

placed on the ballot

and what we're asking for is to go on

the ballot

as what we believe we should be kevin

meet kevin

paffreth this is our identity

and this is my legal name it's not like

i'm asking to go on the ballot as meet

kevin

that's not what i'm asking for i'm

asking you to go on the ballot as kevin

meet kevin bafrath because that is my

first name this is my last name

this is my identity they think the

secretary of state thinks no no no that

sounds like a campaign slogan

i'm like no it's not a slogan like

that's literally i trademarked it in

2015.

in 2013 i made meet kevin.com everything

about my identity is meet kevin people

like oh who's your realtor oh it's me

kevin

oh what youtube channel do you watch oh

meet kevin people go up to me in the

street they're like oh hey meet kevin

can i have a self like it's me kevin is

my identity

so i made a video expressing frustration

and asking for help

that we have a deadline coming up

tomorrow 5 p.m

that by this deadline

the terminations get made in terms of

how you appear on the ballot

and so i made a video saying oh my gosh

like help me help me convince the

secretary of state like

you see me or you know me as meet kevin

and so i got a

frantic call from the attorney

at the state of california secretary of

state's office

threatening me saying now i'm

interfering with the government

and if i don't like my campaign

designation

then i should take them to court she

literally said

that me somebody who can't afford to

just drop a few hundred grand on a

lawsuit right before an election when

we're trying to use every time we have

i'm pre-funding hundreds of thousands of

dollars for this campaign

i can't afford to spend another few

hundred thousand dollars on a campaign

it's like let's let's just start selling

off real estate to try to fight

to serve people of california it's like

i don't have unlimited amounts of money

and so now all of a sudden she says on

the phone kevin

if you don't like that we don't say you

can use

kevin meet kevin paffrath then you have

to sue us

like why would i sue you i'm just trying

to follow the law and use the nickname

kevin kevin kevin if you don't like it

you have to sue us because if we put me

kevin on the ballot and somebody else

doesn't like meat kevin because they

think it's a slogan

then they could sue us like wait a

minute this is what's wrong with

california

don't tell someone they can't do

something

because somebody else might get upset it

doesn't work that way

the law says meet kevin is a nickname

the law says meet kevin belongs on

the ballot hands down it's been this has

been litigated before

nicknames go on ballots and so you're

saying

for me to follow what's the law i might

have to sue

you because you're worried about getting

sued by

another candidate really is this what

our world has come to

seriously california come on folks

all we're asking like all we're asking

for

is to be on the ballot as kevin meet

kevin paphrath which by law

is legal and has been done before and

they believe

that meet kevin is a slogan and not an

identity

and if we want to change it we have to

file a lawsuit against them

like this is this is literally probably

gavin newsom calling the secretary of

state going hey guys

f with this guy make make him sue us

because that'll take

that'll take fundraising money away and

then and then he'll be able to hold less

rallies i got a rally coming up in

bakersfield this weekend i'm spending

hundreds of thousands of dollars of my

own money on this campaign to try to

campaign

while having a family while doing market

open and closed live streams while well

just

just trying to serve people

and this is the

i just want to give back okay i'm not

running to like

get rich i can retire today i don't need

to run i don't need to go into politics

to get lobbyists money that's why i

haven't taken a dollar of corporate

money i haven't taken a dollar

of lobbyist money nothing i'm beholden

to no one

and all i want is to appear on the

ballot as my name

and this is their response well if you

don't like it you could sue us
