here's something I often talk to people
about in therapy imagine this is all the
layers of your life now let's say you
start getting anxious about big social
events like weddings so you start to
avoid them then the anxiety rise when
you're out with friends so you start
avoiding that then being in restaurants
supermarkets the gym public transport
then answering the door and even
speaking on the phone now when you avoid
all the things that make you anxious
before you know it your life starts to
shrink and it feels like you'll never be
able to cope doing all those things
again and it's true if you try to do it
all at once you most likely will feel
overwhelmed and give up so instead you
take one thing that feels most
manageable at the time and you start
challenging yourself to take that piece
of your life back then you take the next
thing then the next thing you don't have
to flood yourself with fear you take
your life back layer by layer I'm a
psychologist follow it for more
