0:00

so we just picked this up at Harbor

0:01

Freight for six dollars they had one was

0:06

a dollar cheaper they didn't have the

0:07

spiral stitching in it it was just an

0:10

open piece of cloth so these would move

0:12

around a little bit more free and we got

0:14

20% off with this and a free magnetic

0:18

part string so that's pretty good let's

0:21

see if we can go ahead and mount it to

0:23

this motor

0:24

yeah that's go ahead and loosen up the

0:26

bolt that's holding the grinding wheel

0:28

on and go ahead and take this off and I

0:32

have another wrench on the opposite side

0:34

of the axle to keep it from moving now

0:38

we can go ahead and slide this off and

0:40

put on the buffing wheel you can see on

0:44

this like a little bracket here we're

0:47

missing a set screw that's holding that

0:49

in so it's a little loose so we have a

0:52

set screw kit here that we also got from

0:55

Harbor Freight it has a bunch of

0:56

different sizes of set screws so this is

0:59

a quarter 20 so I have a quarter 20 set

1:01

screw and I'm gonna go ahead and put

1:04

that in the hole tighten that up so it's

1:08

more secure now we can go ahead and pull

1:12

off the old grinding wheel and then put

1:15

on the buffing wheel and then transfer

1:17

some of the parts if it didn't come with

1:18

this buffing wheel came with some

1:22

different attachments so if you take out

1:25

the buffing wheel you can see these are

1:29

the pads to hold it on so we'll probably

1:33

use these to put one on first then you

1:39

can add the buffing wheel we're gonna

1:43

use the smaller ones because they're

1:45

more designed to fit this in just a

1:47

really nice tight fit so let's go ahead

1:49

and put these on and then tighten it up

1:57

now with the wheel centered I'm gonna go

2:00

ahead and just tighten it up and then we

2:04

can test it out with this tightened up

2:07

you can see that it is a little bit

2:10

off-center so we're gonna go ahead and

2:12

loosen that and see if we can get a

2:13

little better now you can see the wheel

2:16

as much straighter it's not going up and

2:19

down anymore so let's go ahead and test

2:21

it out on the part here are the three

2:23

grades of polishing grit this one here

2:26

is the finest the medium and the most

2:28

coarse we're gonna start with the finest

2:30

and to put this on your wheel it's

2:35

actually kind of mixed in with a wax

2:39

so as it heats up it gets applied on the

2:43

weak

2:45

you're putting this on you really don't

2:48

need to put so much on the wheel it just

2:50

needs a little bit these lenses have

2:52

some minor scratches in them so we're

2:55

gonna try to take them out with the

2:56

buffer we're gonna go ahead and stop at

3:04

the front and the back

3:17

for the final buff on these lenses we're

3:20

gonna go a little lighter and you can

3:22

see these are looking much much clearer

3:24

and really see the difference between

3:27

these two lenses that buffing wheel did

3:29

a great job so really what it is it's

3:33

like an anti-glare coating on the lenses

3:35

to just get messed up over time

3:37

so we're buffing that off and they sure

3:40

look a lot better see the buffing wheel

3:42

is working a little bit but we need to

3:44

just knock off the rough spots with some

3:48

[Music]

3:52

so you can run the sandpaper on the palm

3:55

of your hand and that seems to be

3:57

working to take this grit off but you

3:59

will see a haze come over that lenses

4:02

but that'll come off with a buffing

4:04

wheel now underwater we're going to use

4:07

the 1200 grit and that a lot of times

4:10

sands a little bit better now we have it

4:18

all sanded down let's go ahead and buff

4:20

it on the wheel and it doesn't matter if

4:23

there's water on the lenses that might

4:26

actually lubricate it a little bit

4:27

anyway

4:46

working you can see in some spots the

4:48

coding is not fully off so we're just

4:51

working it off slowly

4:53

you can see with that zone

5:07

you can see that these lenses both are

5:11

very clean and ready to be put back in

5:13

their frames so if you guys found this

5:15

video useful if you did don't forget to

5:17

Like and subscribe and we'll see you

next time
