How To Sand and Polish Aluminum To Mirror Finish [Version 2.0]

hello and welcome to skills and trade today's exciting video we're gonna learn how to sand

and polish this aluminum sheet to a mirror finish first thing we're gonna do is take

some of our alumicut I'm gonna place it in our spray bottle that I'm just gonna

mist all over this aluminum sheet so that we can begin sanding now that we have that

taken care of we're gonna take our 220 grit sandpaper attach it to our hookit pad which

is attached to our drill and then we can begin sanding the key to sanding is to take your time

and not to spend too much time in any spot or area or you'll get divots in the metal

Now we are done with the 220 grit sandpaper it is time for our 400 grit

sandpaper and just like the 220 before it we're gonna stick the 400 grit sandpaper on

a hookit pad which is still attached to our drill and then we're going to begin sanding

all right now we're going to do the 400 grit sandpaper step again except this

time we're going to place it on our interface pad so we can smooth out some of these lines

now we are ready for 800 grit sandpaper and just like our previous step we're

just going to place on interface pad spray a little bit of alumicut and begin sanding

next up is our 1500 grit sandpaper and just like the 800 grit before it we're simply gonna

place it on our interface pad place a little bit of alumicut on it and begin sanding

now it's time for our second-to-last sanding step so to take our 3000 grit trizact foam finishing

pad place it on our hooker pad spray with lots of lumic and begin sanding for the second to last

time and now the aluminum sheet is looking more and more like a mirror and [Music] now finally

we are at our last sanding step so we're going to take our 5000 grit trizact foam finishing

pad place on our hook a pad and just like our previous step we're going to spray lots of

alumicut and begin sanding for the last time before I begin polishing sand I'm just quickly going to take

a Scott blue shop towel and wipe away some of this alumicut now that that is taken care

of I'm going to take our my Gords polishing pad place it on our hook it pad and then I'm going

to take some gords aluminum polish place it on our Scott blue shop towel and I'm going to wipe

it into the aluminum sheet until it is as dark as possible then we're going to begin polishing

[Music] because I'm a perfectionist I thought I would do a

second coat of polish to make it look as good as possible

[Music] now that we're done polishing it is time to protect our mirror finish and the best way to

do that is with our bling master bling barrier clear sealant now you have to place it on a damp

cloth so I sprayed our Scott blue shop towel then I'm just going to rub it into the aluminum sheet

until it is as dark as possible wait for it to dry then I'm just going to wipe it away with another
