How to Crochet a Chibi Luffy Doll | Amigurumi Tutorial | One Piece
FULL TRANSCRIPT
[Music]
hey guys welcome back to my Channel
today I have a new video for you and
this time it is a doll of Luffy and I'm
so happy with how he came out it took me
so long guys to get this video oh my
gosh I hope that it's easy to follow I
feel like it's maybe not beginner
friendly but maybe more intermediate
this is my longest tutorial yet so it
will will be broken up into Parts I know
that's kind of a bummer but it's just
way too long but yeah I hope you guys
enjoyed the video and let's just not
waste any more time and jump right into
it for this project you will need
scissors a needle a 1.4 mm hook a 3 mm
hook and a 3.5 mm hook you'll also need
10 mm eyes a fine tip Sharpie stuffing
and a dowel for yarn you will need a
medium weight yellow dark brown Peach
and light brown a lightweight white tan
and black and a sock weight red all of
the Yarns I used will be down in the
description
below so beginning with our skin tone
yarn and 3.5 mm hook we're going to
begin with the magic circle and if you
don't know how to do that I have a video
right here that explains how to do
it we're going to secure our circle with
a chain and then in the circle we are
going to make six single
[Music]
crochets we're then going to close our
Circle
up and then we're going to begin our
very first row so for Row one we're
going to do an increase in each Stitch
around bringing our total Stitch count
from 6 to 12 if you don't know how to do
an increase you're just going to put two
single crochets per Stitch
for Rows 2 through 11 we are just going
to be putting a single crochet in each
Stitch around keeping our Stitch count
at 12 when you're done with this row
though come back because I have
something I need to say before you go on
with the rest of the
pattern so typically when we're making
stuffies and stuff like that we tend to
push the inside to the inside so that
it's facing out like
this that's how we usually do it but for
this part of the pattern it's very
important now we're doing it the
opposite and working from the inside out
so this string here should be facing out
the entire time we're making our tube
with that out of the way I'll meet you
back for row
12 so you should now have something that
looks like this and for the now head
part of the pattern we're going to swap
out hook sizes so we're going to go from
a 3.5 and now we're going to size down
to a 3 mm
hook so for row 12 we are going to start
by making a single crochet into the
first
Stitch and then in the second Stitch
we're going to make our increase we'll
be repeating the sequence all the way
around bringing our Stitch count from 12
to
18 for row 13 we're going to be making a
single crochet into the first two
stitches and then an increase into the
third and we're going to repeat this
sequence all the way around bringing our
total to 24
stitches for row 14 we're going to be
making a single crochet into the first
three
stitches and then an increase into the
fourth we're going to repeat the
sequence all the way around bringing our
total to 30
stitches for row 15 we're going to be
making a single crochet into the first
four
stitches and then an increase into the
fifth we're going to repeat the sequence
all the way around for a total of 36
stitches for row 16 we're going to be
making a single crochet into the first
five stitches and then an increase into
the sixth we're going to repeat the
sequence all the way around for a total
of 42
stitches okay so this is what you should
have so far um so we are going to start
you know working from the right side out
which is why we had the tube inside out
and we're just going to start building
up over this Center piece right here
so for the next 11 rows we're going to
be putting a single crochet in each
Stitch around and when you get to row 22
I would like you to leave a marker in
that row and I will meet you back when
those rows are done all right so I just
finished row 27 and this is what you
should have um we're at the point now
where we're going to start decreasing
the head but before we do that we're
going to insert our eyes these are 10 mm
and plain black um we're going to be
inserting them in row 22 which I told
you to Mark out my marker was you know
in the back but I moved it to the front
so that it would make sense for the face
to be there um so yeah you just follow
the line and move your marker over there
and we're just going to start inserting
our eye in that
marker just like this and then we are
going to place our second eye um six
stitches apart from the
first and it's looking so cute already
look at that
adorable so jumping right back into the
pattern we currently have 42 stitches
and we're going to start our first
decrease round so we're going to
decrease the 36 stitches so to do that
we are going to put a single crochet
into the first five stitches and then
we're going to make a
decrease now when it comes to a decrease
you could do it one of two ways um for
the first one you can do your
run-of-the-mill decrease where you
insert your hook and into the next
Stitch pull through insert your hook
into the next Stitch after that and pull
through and then pull through all three
Loops that's perfectly fine but when I'm
making dolls I like to use what's called
an invisible decrease so when doing
invisible decrease you're going to
locate the front Loops of the next two
stitches you're going to insert your
hook into the front Loop of both
stitches see that and then we're going
to yarn over and pull through both of
those front Loops Le two loops on our
hook and then we're going to yarn over
and pull through those next two Loops so
to show you again we're going to do our
five single crochets and then once again
we're going to locate the two front
Loops of the next two stitches and put
our hook through them then we're going
to yarn over and pull through those
loops and then yarn over and pull
through the next two loops and that's
how you do it so you're just going to
repeat that all the way around and I'll
meet you back for the next
row for row 20 9 we're going to make a
single crochet into the first four
stitches and then you're going to make a
decrease and you're going to keep
repeating that all the way around for a
total of 30 stitches for row 30 we will
be putting a single crochet into the
first three stitches and then putting in
a decrease and we're going to repeat
this all the way around for a total of
24
stitches for row 31 we're going to make
a single crochet into the first two
stitches and then we're going to make a
DE decrease and we're going to repeat
this all the way around for a total of
18
stitches before we finish closing up the
head we're going to now take this time
to stuff our head pretty firmly um you
want to make sure it's filled out very
nicely and you get around that whole
middle piece okay so we're going to
finish up our last few rows here and I'm
going to keep stuffing as I go um so for
row 32 we're going to make a single
crochet into the first Stitch and then
you're going to make a decrease right
after that we're going to repeat this
process all the way around for total of
12
stitches and for this last row we're
going to make six decreases all the way
around making a total of six stitches
we're going to go into the very first
Stitch and make a slip stitch and then
we're going to fasten off a long tail
for
[Music]
sewing we're now going to thread our
needle and finish sewing up the top of
the head to finalize it finish by taking
your tail and thread it through the head
out to the side and then cutting off the
majority of that tail and then stuffing
it into the head with the back of your
needle now all that's left is to add the
ears to make the ears we're going to
start with our skin color yarn and our 3
mm hook to begin we're going to start
with a magic
circle then we're going to chain one to
secure it and in the circle we are going
to make five single crochets
we're then going to pull our Circle
closed and then we're going to make a
chain and fasten off by pulling all the
way
through you're going to make two and
then I will show you where to place the
ears okay so now we're going to grab our
head and I like my ears to be even with
the
eye and also five visible stitches back
so 1 2 3 4 5 we want to put our ear
about here and we're going to do the
same on the other side
all right this is what your head should
look like with the ears on now let's go
ahead and begin the
body to make the body we're going to
grab our skin color yarn and a 3 mm hook
and we're going to begin with a magic
circle chain one to secure it and then
we're going to insert six single
crochets into the
circle pull the circle closed and then
for this next row we are just going to
put an increase into each Stitch around
bringing our total to
12 then for Rows 3 through 8 we just
going to be making a single crochet into
each Stitch
around and unlike the head we are going
to be facing the tail of the magic
circle on the inside and having the tube
right side
[Music]
out all right so with those six rows
done we're now going to start the next
row and we're going to begin by making a
single crochet into the first Stitch and
then an increase into the second
and we're going to repeat this all the
way around for a total of 18
stitches 4 row 10 put a single crochet
into the first eight stitches and then
an increase into the ninth you're going
to repeat this one more time for a total
of 20
stitches for rows 11 through 13 we are
just going to be making a single crochet
into each Stitch
around okay so I'm on the last Stitch of
the 13th row and I'm actually going to
make my color change now
so I'm going to grab my blue yarn for my
pants and in the last Stitch I'm going
to insert my
hook pull through with the skin color
yarn and I'm going to leave those two
loops on my hook and then grab my blue
yarn and then pull through with the blue
yarn so for this next row we will be
making a single crochet in each Stitch
around but we will be doing it in the
back Loop
[Music]
only all right so for rows 15 through 17
we are just going to be making a single
crochet into each Stitch around
okay so before we move on let's take
this time to put the body into the
head so we're going to take
our stuffing stuffer thing and just push
into the head like this and it should
fit really tight I wanted it to be put
together before I start decreasing and
finishing up the
body so for 18 we're going to be putting
a single crochet into the first eight
stitches and then we're we're going to
make a
decrease we're going to repeat this one
more time bringing our total Stitch
count to
18 for the next row we're going to be
putting a single crochet into the first
Stitch and then we're going to make a
decrease we're going to repeat that all
the way around for a total of 12
stitches and then for this last row we
just going to make a decrease all the
way around for a total of six
stitches we're now going to finish off
the body with a slip
stitch and then we're going to cut off a
long tail for sewing and and pull all
the way through before we start sewing
we're just going to take some time to
start stuffing the
body okay so to close up the body we're
going to start by threading our
needle and then we're going to enter
into the next Stitch through the front
Loop and then we'll pull through and
then we're going to come out the front
Loop of the Stitch next to
that we're just going to repeat this all
the way around until it's fully closed
up then you're going to take your needle
through the center of the bottom and
come out the side of the body and then
you're going to push the excess yarn
into the
doll okay so we are now going to make
the sash part of the outfit so we're
going to take our 3mm hook and a yellow
yarn and we're going to start by making
a slip stitch and chaining
20 now we're going to go to the very
first chain and we're going to insert
our
hook and we're going to connect it with
the slip
stitch we're then going to chain
one and we're going to go into the same
chain we made a slip stitch and make a
single
crochet we're then going to make a
single crochet into each chain around
giving us 20
stitches for this next row we're going
to be working in the round so I'm going
to put my hook into the first Stitch but
for this row we're going to be working
in the back Loop only so now I'm just
going to make a single crochet in that
first Stitch and I'm going to be making
a single crochet in each Stitch around
in the back Loop only and I'll meet you
back when that's
done so for the next part of our sash we
are going to start by chaining
[Music]
eight then we're going to turn our work
and put a single crochet into each chain
across giving us seven
stitches you're now going to go into the
same Stitch that we started our chain
from and make a slip stitch turn your
work and in the back Loop only of the
first five stitches we're going to be
making a single
[Music]
crochet in the last stitch in the back
Loop only we're going to finish off with
a slip
stitch and then we're going to cut off a
long tail for sewing and pull all the
way through so this is what your P
should look like and to finish the look
we're going to push down on this piece
here onto the inside so now it gives the
illusion that it's tied we're then going
to put it on our little doll here and
position it to our
liking so I threaded my needle and what
we're going to do now is move our yarn
tail up this side piece of the sash
we're going to just weave It Up The
Backs side just so that we can move the
yarn tail to where we need it to be to
start sewing so I'm just going to go up
the back side and just pick up
Loops I'm not doing anything in
particular except for removing the yarn
so now our yarn tail should be on the
inside of the piece going around the
waist so for this next part we're going
to take off the sash because we actually
need it to be on the outside so we're
just going to stick our needle through
the absolute center of the waist piece
and now our sewing yarn is where it
needs to be so we're just going to slip
this back on our doll and to begin we're
going to Loop under with our uh needle
under one of these front Loops that are
sticking out above the
pants and we're going to pull
[Music]
through and then we're going to go into
the loop right next to it as well as
into the center of the waist
piece and then we're going to enter
through the center of the waist piece
and then hook up the next Stitch around
the waist and we're just going to
continue this mattress stitch going all
the way around and I'll meet you back
when that's done all right so once we've
made it back back to the beginning we
are just going to stick our needle
through the very center of the doll and
coming out through the
back then going to cut a large piece of
the excess and we're just going to stuff
the rest of the yarn into the
body to begin the arms take your skin
color yarn and your 3mm hook and we're
going to begin with a magic circle
you're going to chain one to secure it
and then we're going to insert eight
single crochets into the circle
we're now going to pull our Circle
closed and for the next eight rows we
are just going to put a single crochet
into each Stitch around so I will meet
you back when that's done all right so
with those eight rows now done we are
going to fasten off doing a slip stitch
into the very next
Stitch and we're going to cut off a good
size tail for sewing and pull all the
way through we're now going to take our
polyfill and we're going to stuff our
arm pretty firmly you don't want to over
stuff but a good amount we're now going
to thread our needle and we're going to
take our arm and fold it in half like
this and we're just going to go back and
forth with our needle to sew up the top
of the
[Music]
arm and now your arm is complete and of
course you're going to want to make two
of them so now let's move on to the
legs to begin the legs we're going to
start with a magic circle
then we're going to chain one to secure
it and we're going to start by inserting
10 Single crochets into the
circle we're now going to pull our
Circle
closed and we're going to begin the next
row by doing five extended half double
crochets and to make an extended half
double crochet you're going to begin by
yarning over and then you're going to
insert your hook into the first Stitch
then you're going to yarn over and P
pull through that
Stitch and then you're going to yarn
over again and pull through one
Loop and then you're going to yarn over
one more time and pull through all three
loops and we're going to repeat this
four more
times and now we're just going to do a
single crochet into the next five
[Music]
stitches all right and for this next we
are just going to put a single crochet
into each Stitch around for a total of
10
stitches all right so we're going to
begin row four by doing two
decreases once again using the invisible
decrease
method then we're just going to put a
single crochet into the remaining six
stitches for a total of
eight for these next two rows we just
going to put a single crochet into each
Stitch around
round all right guys for ow seven we're
just going to make a single crochet into
each Stitch around but we are going to
be doing it in the back Loop
[Music]
only we're now going to go into the next
Stitch here to make a slip
stitch and then we are going to cut off
a short tail and pull all the way
through we're going to take some time
now to just stuff our leg we're going to
want to do it firmly but not over stuff
it and this is what we should have so
far for this next part we're going to
grab our leg and we are going to
identify the front Loop that's directly
underneath the slip stitch we just made
with our skin color yarn we're going to
put our hook underneath that front Loop
and then we are going to grab our
lightweight white yarn going to make a
quick slip knot with
it and then attach it to our hook and
then we are going to make a slip stitch
with the white yarn
[Music]
so now we're connected and we're going
to go into the very next front Loop and
we're going to make a puff stitch so to
do that we're going to yarn
over then we are going to go into that
next front
loop we're going to yarn over and then
pull through that
Loop then we're going to yarn over again
go through the same
Loop then we're going to yarn over and
pull through that Loop and then we're
going to yarn over go through the same
loop again
[Music]
yarn over pull through that Loop then
yarn over and pull through all of those
white loops and that's your first puff
stitch so we are going to do that in
every front loop around the leg for a
total of eight puff
stitches so this is how it should look
when your puff stitch row is done and
for this next row we're just going to do
a single crochet into each Stitch
around so I'm about to make my last
single crochet of the row but for this
one I'm going to go under my Stitch and
pull through once leaving two loops on
my hook and I'm now going to grab my
blue yarn from before and finish off the
Stitch with this color I'm now going to
cut my white yarn with a short tail and
I'm going to be working with the blue
yarn from here on out for row 10 we're
just going to make a single crochet into
each Stitch around but we're going to be
doing it in the back Loop
only in the next two rows we're just
going to make a single crochet in each
Stitch around for a total of eight
stitches
[Music]
we're now going to take some time to
stuff our leg the rest of the way before
we close it
up we're now going to fold the leg in
half so that the toes face forward and
we're going to put our hook through both
sides of the leg and make single
crochets all the way
across we're then going to finish off
with a slip stitch
and then we're going to cut off a long
tail for sewing and pull all the way
through and of course make two
legs so now that the limbs are made we
can now sew them on I'm actually going
to do it off camera but um I will show
you where I'm going to do it so the arms
I'm going to put where basically the
body meets to the
head and for the legs I want him sitting
down so I'm placing the legs in the
front
center and I think I want them kind of
splited out like this
and that's kind of the vision going into
this so I'm just going to go ahead and
sew these now and I'll meet you back
when that's
done all right to make the sandals we're
going to take our lightweight tan yarn
and our 3 mm hook and we're going to
begin with a magic
circle chain one to secure it now we're
going to insert five single crochets
into the magic
circle pull the circle closed and for
for this next row we are going to put an
increase into each Stitch around
bringing our Stitch count to
10 for Row three we are going to put a
single crochet into the first Stitch and
then an increase into the second we're
going to repeat this sequence all the
way around bringing our Stitch count to
15 once you have that make a slip stitch
into the very first Stitch and then cut
off a tail for
sewing for this next part we're going to
be making the straps and you're just
going to want to grab a brown yarn
and next we're going to Mark out where
our straps are going to go so not
counting our slip stitch here we're
going to count backwards four stitches
so one 2 3 and four and we're going to
Mark out that fourth stitch by pulling
up the back loop with our hook we're now
going to count five stitches past that
Loop so one 2 3 four and five we're
going to pull up once again the back
Loop then we're going to count another
four stitches after that and pull up
that back
Loop so we should have something that
looks like this now we're going to grab
our Brown yarn and make a slip knot and
then we're going to attach it to the
first back Loop we made using a slip
stitch we're then going to chain
three and attach it to the next pulled
up back Loop using a slip
stitch and then we're going to chain
three one more time and attach it to the
last pulled up back
loop we're going to cut off a long tail
for sewing and then we're going to pull
all the way
through and this is how your sandal
should look make two of them and then
we're going to sew them on to the bottom
of our doll's feet okay so this is sort
of the idea with the uh sandals we're
going to take the brown yarn and attach
the straps to the top of the foot and
then we're going to take this light
brown yarn tail and attach the soles to
the bottom of the foot
this is a lot of sewing so you could
definitely just hot glue it to the foot
if you need
to all right guys thank you so much for
watching part one next week I will be
posting part two where it'll cover the
hair the Hat the jacket and the details
so I hope you guys stay tuned for that
video and I guess I'll just see you in
the next one bye
