The Secret of the Emerald Tablet
FULL TRANSCRIPT
In an age when gods still whispered to
mortals, when wisdom traveled not in
books but on the breath of stars, a boy
named Bellinas wandered the ancient
streets of Tiana, haunted by a question
no one could answer.
>> What is truth? And why do I hunger for
it? So,
>> born in the first century AD, Balinas
was no ordinary child.
Blessed with a powerful memory and
radiant beauty, he devoured every
subject he encountered.
But the more he learned, the deeper his
longing grew. His questions wore down
his teachers. His father called it
madness.
And one day he stopped speaking to his
son altogether.
Alone cast off, the boy wandered Tayana
like a beggar, seeking someone, anyone
who could reach the depths of his soul.
Until one morning, he came upon a
forgotten statue near the edge of town.
A bearded figure carved in marble,
seated high upon a gilded column.
>> Who are you?
>> An inscription on the column read,
"Behold,
I am Hermes Tismagistos.
He who is threefold in wisdom.
Let him who would learn and know the
secrets of creation and nature inquire
beneath my feet.
The boy returned each day, whispering
his soul to the cold stone, as though
Hermes himself might answer,
>> "Teach me, Hermes. Please show me the
truth."
>> Then one morning, just before sunrise,
a golden light struck the statue's base,
illuminating the brass plate. And again,
Bellinas read the inscription.
Let him who would learn and know the
secrets of creation and nature inquire
beneath my feet.
Gasping with sudden realization,
Bellinas began to dig at Hermes's feet.
By noon, he had uncovered a narrow
opening into the earth. A cave so black
that no torch could stay lit inside. The
winds howled as if the gods were testing
him. That night, Bellinus slept by the
statue and dreamed.
And in his dream, Bellinas saw a radiant
man appear beside the cave.
Oh, Bellinas,
rise and enter this chamber to attain
the secrets of creation.
But carry your light in a glass vessel.
For the winds within snuff out all naked
flame.
>> Who are you?
>> I am your own being,
perfect and subtle.
The next morning, the boy crafted a
lantern from glass, lit his flame, and
stepped into the darkness.
Though the winds howled around him, his
flame did not extinguish.
After the winds ceased, ahead, Bellinas
could see a distant light.
He approached.
Before him stood a golden throne,
and seated in it the mummified corpse of
Hermes, a shining greencoled tablet in
his lap.
Drawing closer, the boy began to read
the words written upon the emerald
tablet.
I speak not that which is false, but
only that which is certain and most
true.
That which is above is like that which
is below and that which is below is like
that which is above
to accomplish the miracle of the one
thing.
As all things come from the one by the
mediation of the one. So all things are
produced from this one thing by
adaptation.
Its father is the sun. Its mother is the
moon. The wind carried it. The earth
nursed it. It is the cause of all
perfection throughout the world.
Its power is perfect when changed into
earth.
Separate the earth from the fire, the
subtle from the gross. It ascends from
earth to heaven and descends to earth
again.
Thus you will possess the glory of the
whole world and all obscurity will fly
away.
This thing is the fortitude of all
fortitude because it overcomes all that
is subtle and penetrates all that is
solid. Thus are all things created.
For I am called Hermes the Thrice Great,
and what I have to say is complete.
This was not a riddle, but a map
from illusion to truth.
From the unreal to the real.
Beside Hermes lay four ancient books.
The first three taught mathematics,
astronomy, and natural law. The fourth
revealed the meaning of the emerald
tablet, the hidden link between man and
the universe.
The one thing, it lives in all things.
Bolinus would later write in his own
books. He who reads this book may, if he
chooses, be successful in realizing such
wonders.
Changed forever, Balinus renounced
violence, refused to wear animal skin,
and pledged never to harm life again. He
spoke no words for 5 years,
communicating only with his eyes, his
heart, and silence.
As Bellinus grew in wisdom and the
secrets of nature and science, he healed
the sick with his mere presence. He
taught mystics from Egypt to India and
inspired emperors with his insight.
To those who asked what the tablet
meant, he would say, "The one thing
lives in you. Unite the above and the
below.
Let your soul rise to meet your mind and
the miracle will be complete."
What Balinas found beneath that statue
was not just an ancient relic.
It was the truth waiting in all of us.
The Emerald Tablet was a gift from the
gods.
But its wisdom is a flame that waits for
you.
Seek it beneath your own feet and within
your innermost being.
