Morning guys and welcome to our first

0:02

ever vlog. Today we're going to give you

0:04

a bit of an insight as to what it's like

0:06

living our daily lives as we travel from

0:08

Canada down to Panama. We're currently

0:10

in Tulum, Mexico. So, let's get into it.

0:12

First things first, I got to wake up

0:14

late.

0:16

[Music]

0:18

Morning.

0:22

Morning vlog. I'm awake.

0:25

I'm excited for the day. Yeah.

0:29

The moment I wake up

0:32

before I make I

0:37

think

0:39

the moment I wake up

0:41

before I make I

1:02

This is nearly our every morning

1:03

breakfast because we make it at night

1:06

after dinner. It's overnight oats and

1:07

then we don't have to do anything in the

1:09

morning. We're just going to wake up and

1:10

eat. If we've mentioned it, we love to

1:13

eat. So,

1:14

but how's the quality of this one?

1:16

Well, this one we're missing maple

1:17

syrup. When you run out of real Cany

1:20

maple syrup, it's a sad day.

1:24

All right, I'm slowly waking up.

1:28

So, today we are going to be going to a

1:30

beach that's a little bit off the beaten

1:31

path. Um, we were told about it by some

1:34

friends. It's a long drive and a bumpy

1:36

road to get there. So, we're going to

1:39

bring you along for that. But first, we

1:41

need to stock up on some groceries,

1:43

stock up on some gas. So, let's get

1:46

going. So, guys, since we're keeping it

1:48

really real with you, we're going to

1:50

show you our epic morning view.

1:55

[Music]

2:01

And if you look, we aren't the only

2:03

campers taking advantage of this uh

2:06

lovely car park. He's a nice French

2:08

family.

2:11

So, the nice thing about waking up in a

2:13

car park of a supermarket is definitely

2:16

the ability to go shopping first thing

2:19

in the morning and also use their

2:20

bathrooms. You

2:30

more

2:36

[Music]

2:43

boy more.

2:48

[Music]

3:05

Ay has assumed his regular position in

3:07

the van. Ready for today's drive.

3:11

Ready for adventure.

3:12

All right, let's go.

3:16

[Music]

3:17

Who are these guys hiding? They're

3:19

smart. They've actually chosen the spots

3:20

that get morning shade.

3:23

Okay, so we finished our supermarket

3:25

shop. We almost got everything we

3:27

needed. We just have to get a few more

3:28

fruits and vegetables. So hopefully in

3:30

our hour and a half drive, we see a

3:32

little tien down the side of the road.

3:34

We actually prefer getting our

3:35

vegetables and fruit from the side of

3:37

the road.

3:38

Sucks.

3:38

Yeah, supermarkets don't have the most

3:41

fresh fruits and vegetables anyway, and

3:42

we'd rather support local instead of

3:44

these big department stores. But it's

3:46

also just convenient when you wake up

3:48

there to get most of the dry food

3:49

packages as well. So, we're getting gas

3:52

at the moment. Hopefully find some more

3:54

fruit, vegetable on the road, and then

3:55

we're heading off to the beach.

3:57

[Music]

4:11

So,

4:13

diesel over here in Mexico is more

4:15

expensive than Canada and the US. If

4:17

you've seen our six-month budget video,

4:19

you'll know that diesel is one of our

4:21

largest costs with food.

4:23

What do you think about that, Rocky?

4:25

Yeah. It was pretty good.

4:27

Hockey doesn't care. Hockey doesn't pay

4:29

for gas. Hockey doesn't pay for

4:31

anything.

4:34

[Applause]

4:37

Probably six.

4:40

Yeah, that sounds good.

4:47

So, it looks like we're not the only

4:48

ones chasing a beautiful beach today.

4:50

There is a camper from Argentina driving

4:52

in front of us.

4:54

Here go a

4:58

[Music]

5:06

go.

5:07

So, we had our first hiccup of the day.

5:10

Uh, where we were going today was called

5:12

Puna Allen and it was a peninsula that

5:14

broke off just south of Tulum. It is an

5:17

ecological reserve and we did read

5:20

online a lot of mixed reviews whether

5:21

you could bring a dog there or not. So,

5:24

we thought we'd figure it out for

5:25

ourselves. We just got there. And

5:27

unfortunately, we're not allowed to

5:29

bring AI in. So, that's a bit of a

5:31

bummer, but that's okay. We're just

5:33

going to redirect and head to another

5:35

spot that we were going to go to

5:36

afterwards, which just means we're going

5:38

there sooner than later. And

5:41

Bakalar.

5:42

Yeah. So, it's called Laguna Bakalar. If

5:44

you've heard of it or been there or seen

5:46

pictures, it looks exceptional. And

5:49

we're still very excited to see this

5:51

place. And I guess the other spot which

5:53

is not meant to be.

5:55

[Music]

6:06

[Music]

6:09

So, we took a little pit stop at the

6:11

side of the road at the moment. Max

6:13

really wanted some pineapple. And this

6:15

is video evidence that Max has never cut

6:17

a pineapple before because look how much

6:20

he cut off as the outer skin layer. This

6:23

is all valuable goods right here.

6:26

What do you have to say for yourself?

6:28

I'll rescue it. I'll rescue it.

6:31

We just asked Aie if he wants to hop

6:33

outside for a pee on a little break and

6:36

he's so comfortable on his pillow on top

6:38

of the 6- in memory foam that he doesn't

6:41

want to go anywhere.

6:43

No go, buddy. Nope, not moving.

6:54

All aboard.

6:56

So, this is co-piloting duties here.

7:05

Hands-free driver.

7:15

loves the wind in his fur.

7:23

I just can't

7:26

scar me.

7:32

[Music]

7:48

[Music]

7:50

Let me give you a

7:52

freaking weekend.

8:00

[Music]

8:07

I do love my not the way that I do love

8:11

you.

8:13

Hold me on my apple.

8:18

Girl, I never love like you

8:23

know

8:26

where I

8:33

live.

8:45

So, we just arrived where we're going to

8:46

have lunch and let's check it out

8:50

together.

8:57

Not bad at all.

9:03

What's for lunch today, chef? Uh today

9:06

we are going to have a quinoa salad with

9:08

a bit of aqua I think.

9:12

So what we have is from the other day we

9:15

have the salad all cut up. We have

9:17

cucumber, carrot, um pumpkin seed,

9:20

onion,

9:22

cranberries,

9:23

[Music]

9:24

uh tomato,

9:27

tomato, and we're just going to add some

9:29

quinoa, avocado, and make a dressing for

9:31

it. Sounds good to me.

9:34

[Music]

9:45

I'm not sure.

9:47

I just added a whole bunch of random

9:49

ingredients that I like.

9:51

Oh, fingers crossed.

9:57

So, for those of you that didn't already

9:58

suspect it, Lee is actually the main

10:01

cook in the kitchen. It's uh not trying

10:04

to gender roll or anything. I'm just

10:06

really hopeless in the kitchen. I am

10:08

trying to learn

10:09

and he's learning.

10:10

I'm trying to learn and doing my best.

10:14

I'm really poor at coming up with my own

10:16

ideas and I like to stick to things I

10:18

know. Old habits die hard, but giving it

10:21

a go.

10:24

[Music]

10:35

We are going to set off on foot to see

10:37

if there's somewhere we can get in for a

10:38

swim, get this pooch wet, and cool down

10:41

for the afternoon.

10:59

[Music]

11:04

Is that good?

11:06

Is that good?

11:09

[Music]

11:17

[Music]

11:25

Oh, good boy.

11:30

Good boy.

11:39

Left

11:45

[Applause]

11:49

[Music]

11:55

[Applause]

11:55

[Music]

11:58

my favorite.

12:07

[Music]

12:11

I'm intrigued with the strawberry.

12:16

[Applause]

12:18

[Music]

12:20

You excited?

12:26

Okay, we're going.

12:27

Yeah.

12:33

Not your first time. I think

12:35

it's on 30° sub zero.

12:38

We make rolls.

12:39

Yeah.

12:41

Yeah.

12:43

That's so cool.

12:46

[Music]

12:46

[Applause]

12:50

What a unique idea.

12:52

Yeah.

12:53

Thank you.

12:54

We are from Mexico City.

12:56

Okay. And we traveled to

13:00

like 3 years ago

13:01

when we started the business there.

13:04

Good idea.

13:05

Cool.

13:06

You can follow us on Instagram if you

13:09

want to to learn

13:10

about you can follow on Instagram.

13:13

Yeah.

13:14

If you want to know our story,

13:16

it's MX.

13:18

There we go.

13:19

We just started a YouTube channel.

13:22

So, we're This is our first uh down here

13:26

in the theme park.

13:27

Oh, yeah.

13:28

I froze.

13:29

I suppose

13:30

you like it.

13:31

Really good. Yes.

13:32

Thank you.

13:34

It's so fresh.

13:35

It's good.

13:36

It's amazing.

13:38

And it's amazing cuz it's dairyfree.

13:40

Okay, I guess we better pay for it.

13:48

Come here, bud.

13:51

Come here. Well, that was a successful

13:53

day. Beautiful afternoon. We went for a

13:55

swim and got some ice cream. Come here.

14:02

What's the plan now?

14:03

We are going to find our camp, which we

14:06

think we know where we're going to go.

14:07

So, we have to go check it out. Make

14:08

sure that it works for us. And if not,

14:09

we'll get back on I Overlander and look

14:12

for more. We just turned on the engine

14:14

and someone is already tuckered down,

14:17

ready to go to sleep. Okay, back to our

14:20

trusty I Overlander.

14:22

We spent the afternoon right in the

14:24

middle of the back balar and we are

14:27

going to drive down and check out all

14:31

the way. It's really not that far. It

14:33

just looks far to this little camp spot

14:35

here

14:37

to see if we can stay there for the

14:38

night.

14:41

What? What?

14:42

Let's go.

14:52

So, we just got to our campsite for the

14:54

night. It's the free one that we found

14:55

on I Overlander. And we ran into our

14:57

friend Charlie, who we met way earlier

15:00

north in San Panchcho in Mexico. So,

15:02

I'll show you the lake.

15:07

Hola.

15:09

Tell us about what you're doing.

15:12

Lifeing.

15:12

Yeah.

15:13

Heading to Bavo. So, another reason we

15:15

like to find these free camps that are

15:17

far away from all the touristy areas is

15:18

then we can let Ay really be himself. We

15:21

don't have to time up. He can wander in

15:23

the bushes and roll in the grass, eat

15:25

the grass, play with his ball, just

15:29

then all three of us really enjoy the

15:30

camping, not just so it's a team thing

15:33

we have going on.

15:37

O,

15:37

do you like our campsite, buddy?

15:42

[Music]

15:50

So, as I mentioned earlier, I may not be

15:52

the best cook, but here is where my

15:54

expertise really comes in.

15:58

Dishwashing duty. And after I do these

16:01

dishes from lunch, we're going to get

16:02

into dinner.

16:03

All right, so we're finally making

16:04

dinner. It's 8:30, which is a lot later

16:07

than we normally have dinner, but uh we

16:10

enjoy the afternoon till the sun went

16:12

down and Max did the dishes and then we

16:14

actually just met uh a local and I had a

16:17

conversation and uh we're making

16:19

porttoella mushroom burgers tonight. So,

16:21

I'll show you about what we're doing.

16:27

[Music]

16:49

Wake up.

16:54

Do you have a good shot of our sangas?

16:57

Those look great.

17:01

[Music]

17:07

[Music]

17:14

It's really

17:15

[Music]

17:26

Okay,

17:31

as you saw this morning, we had

17:33

overnight oats. So, let me get into

17:35

showing you how to make them.

17:38

[Music]

17:58

[Music]

18:11

So that's pretty much it for the oats.

18:13

The only other thing I would add, we

18:15

didn't have any nuts left like almonds,

18:17

pecans. Normally we add one of those.

18:19

Also, once you set it in the fridge,

18:22

leave it overnight, as the name

18:23

suggests. In the morning, make sure you

18:25

add some good old proper maple syrup.

18:28

And those bad boys are good to go.

18:30

Ready? You ready for this?

18:34

[Music]

18:46

Well, guys, good night. It's been a fun

18:49

day and we hope that you have a new

18:52

insight into what a normal day in our

18:53

life is like.

18:55

Oh, he's joining us.

18:57

Come here, buddy.

18:58

Now, so we're in bed. Why are we still

19:02

enclosed? I don't know why we're still

19:04

enclosed.

19:06

We normally at this point both Lee and I

19:08

would probably read a book, maybe go on

19:11

YouTube, answer some comments, do

19:13

something like that. But to be honest,

19:15

guys, doing a normal day in van life and

19:18

filming it as well is much more tiring

19:21

than just living a normal day of van

19:23

life. I don't know about you, I'm bloody

19:25

exhausted and I'm going straight to

19:27

sleep.

19:29

All right, guys. If you like the video,

19:32

subscribe to our channel. No,

19:38

we're too tired. If you like it, let us

19:40

know what you thought. And we hope it

19:42

gave everybody who wanted to know what a

19:43

day in the life is like some more

19:46

insight. Good night.
