How to Use SpeedOut Screw Extractor - Success AND Fail!

In this video, I'm going to show you how to use speed out to remove a stripped screw.

I'm going to be using speed out which is an extractor tool that I picked up at Lowe's.

Speed out comes with four different bits that are used for different size screws. Here's the

reference guide that shows you which bit to use for the size of screw that you're working with.

So each bit has two sides. The first side is the drill out side. That's the side you'll use first,

second side is the extraction side. So once you decide which size bit you need to use

you need to insert it directly into your drill so that the drill out side is showing.

And then tighten your Chuck. You also want to make sure your drill is set to reverse, you're

going to use reverse when you drill out the screw and extract it. So now you're gonna place your bit

in the center the screw and apply firm pressure as you drill out a hole, hole needs to be about 1/16

to 1/8 inch deep. Now you're going to flip your drill bit over to where the extraction side of the

drill bit is facing out. Make sure to tighten your chuck and that your drills on reverse.

Place the drill bit down into the hole that you just made the screw and apply firm pressure as

you reverse out slowly. So you can see that this is just a total fail the drill bit doesn't extract

the screw. So what I ended up doing is just going up one size for just the extraction. So once I

went up the size on the extraction drill bit, you'll see that it gripped the screw and pulled

it straight out. I've probably used speed out, maybe 10 times and so far it hasn't failed me.
