0:00

today has been a big day for ukraine and

0:02

if you haven't gotten caught up with

0:03

everything that's going on between

0:04

ukraine and russia this will catch you

0:06

up with what's been going on over the

0:07

last four days the weekend and the first

0:09

couple days of this week so the united

0:12

states has had numerous companies today

0:14

announce that they were going to shut

0:16

down their operations in ukraine this is

0:19

on top of the many other companies that

0:21

have already announced that they were

0:22

going to stop doing business in ukraine

0:24

those companies that had already

0:26

announced are companies like apple

0:27

burberry ea hermes h m ikea nike under

0:30

armour ford and many more but today we

0:33

got a lot of updates on this we heard

0:35

that uh porsche and a ferrari are and

0:39

lamborghini are potentially or

0:41

restricting their activities in russia

0:43

we also heard that mcdonald's is

0:45

shutting down all of its stores in

0:47

russia and it's keeping all of its

0:49

employees on payroll it is continuing to

0:52

uh pay its employees while uh they shut

0:55

down all of their mcdonald's stores as

0:57

soon as mcdonald's pulled out starbucks

0:59

pulled out coca-cola pulled out as soon

1:02

as coca-cola pulled out pepsi came out

1:04

and said we're gonna remove and stop

1:06

spending money on uh any of our ads in

1:08

in russia we're gonna stop whatever and

1:12

pepsi basically any business in in

1:14

russia and pepsi went as far as saying

1:16

they have 20 000 associates in russia

1:20

and they're going to work to continue to

1:22

support their livelihoods while they

1:24

pull out of russia so massive shutouts

1:27

here the u.s has also warned about

1:30

potentially shutting out chinese

1:32

semiconductor manufacturers for any

1:34

companies that violate russian sanctions

1:37

in response to this putin immediately

1:40

came out and signed a decree now we

1:43

still don't know all of the details of

1:45

what's going to be in this but

1:46

apparently putin gave his ministers two

1:49

days to determine exactly what kind of

1:53

commodities they will now ban from being

1:56

exported to uh potentially the united

1:59

states and other countries so biden's

2:02

cabinet has two days for a list of

2:03

commodities and specifically which

2:05

countries are going to be subject to

2:06

that ban he did sign this decree and

2:08

this decree would ban these commodities

2:11

uh exports all the way through december

2:13

31st now this could be a problem because

2:16

40 percent of the world's of certain

2:18

parts of the world's corn wheat and

2:21

metal markets come from russia nickel

2:24

for example has three exton price

2:26

palladium skyrocketing aluminum

2:28

skyrocketing wheat soybeans all

2:31

important commodities that come out of

2:34

ukraine and uh the russia region

2:36

collectively uh of course putin's decree

2:39

on uh on uh coming out of russia won't

2:42

uh affect so much so the things coming

2:44

out of ukraine but you've got a war

2:46

going on there and you've got factories

2:47

shutting down in ukraine and you wonder

2:49

how many of the wheat fields are going

2:50

to survive unscathed when it comes time

2:52

for wheat harvest in august we just

2:55

don't know that yet so you've got this

2:57

change coming up within the next two

2:59

days that was signed today and so we'll

3:00

have a big announcement on those items

3:02

in the next two days and that could lead

3:03

to even more of a move on some of these

3:06

commodity prices

3:08

we've also heard from the director of

3:10

national intelligence that uh there are

3:12

likely somewhere between 2 000 to 4 000

3:15

russian soldiers who have died at this

3:17

point ukraine says that they have killed

3:20

11 000 troops and russia says they've

3:23

killed

3:24

that only 500 russian troops have died

3:26

so the truth is probably somewhere in

3:28

the middle of this massive range here

3:30

russia is apparently also not retrieving

3:32

the bodies of russian soldiers who have

3:34

been killed uh which is very unnormal or

3:37

abnormal moscow according to the

3:39

director of national intelligence has

3:40

severely underestimated

3:42

the resistance that they would face in

3:44

ukraine there are stories that military

3:47

individuals from ukraine were told that

3:50

they were just going to i'm sorry from

3:51

russia we're told that they were going

3:53

to

3:54

train at the border of ukraine and train

3:57

with belarus and then all of a sudden

3:58

they found that they were being told hey

4:01

guess what you're part of the front line

4:02

you're going in to invade ukraine now

4:04

but don't worry you're just liberating

4:06

the ukrainian people from nazis and when

4:09

they got there they obviously were met

4:11

by ukrainians who do not want to be

4:13

liberated

4:15

of course under the incredible

4:16

leadership and guidance of zelinski

4:19

there have been a lot of attempts to

4:22

create safe harbor corridors which the

4:24

red cross is trying to set up and

4:26

maintain and ensure that ceasefires are

4:29

respected on both the ukrainian and

4:31

russian side this is very difficult to

4:33

do because all it does is take one

4:36

random sniper shot from one person or

4:38

somebody accidentally discharging a

4:40

firearm or somebody purposely

4:42

discharging a firearm to violate

4:43

potentially the ceasefire on both sides

4:45

and then these evacuation corridors fail

4:48

now the evacuation corridor so far

4:50

coming under fire by zielinski because

4:52

zielinski's saying hey russia's trying

4:53

to set up evacuation corridors

4:55

from ukraine to russia but people don't

4:58

want to go to russia and this is leading

4:59

to arguments that maybe these corridors

5:01

are just being set up for russian

5:02

propaganda that russia's setting up the

5:05

corridors to say look

5:06

you know so they can put on on their

5:08

russian televisions hey look we are

5:10

letting people from ukraine come to the

5:12

great country of mother russia and we

5:14

are trying to rescue them from the nazis

5:17

uh and the russian media is is very

5:20

state sanitized in russia it's worth

5:22

noting that i want to say three of the

5:24

largest tv

5:26

yeah it is three of the largest tv

5:28

companies or stations in russia are

5:30

either wholly owned by the state

5:32

or the state has a majority ownership of

5:34

like 50.5 percent in those so in other

5:37

words they have all decision making

5:38

power which is crazy the cia cia

5:40

director our cia director is now warning

5:42

that the next few weeks will be quote

5:45

ugly and this is due to intensive

5:48

intelligence that they have which

5:49

they're sharing with ukraine it's also

5:52

worth noting that there's a belief that

5:54

a ceasefire that starts tomorrow at 11

5:57

a.m moscow time so that's in about 12

6:00

hours now

6:00

it could actually last it's probably in

6:02

about nine hours now at this point uh

6:04

that this this uh corridor that uh and

6:06

ceasefire that russia now sets up could

6:08

just be used as an opportunity for

6:10

russia to end up pushing some more of

6:12

their troops forward peacefully to

6:14

eventually encircle keef

6:16

and uh they're pushing a lot of troops

6:18

from the east to circle kiev and to take

6:22

control of the capital and it's possible

6:24

that we could see more aggressive

6:25

attacks on the capital as russia

6:28

essentially lashes out so far we have a

6:31

lot of reports including one in the

6:32

financial times this morning that says

6:34

russia so far has still not used a real

6:38

shock and awe strategy of fighting in uh

6:41

ukraine and that when they do there

6:43

could be a lot more loss of life the new

6:46

york times had a cover photo yesterday

6:48

of individuals actually trying to flee

6:51

from outside of kiev across a bridge to

6:54

get into keeve because kiev is still

6:56

ukrainian controlled and it's actually

6:57

safer than some of the areas right

6:59

around akiv

7:00

and a family made a run for it and they

7:03

ended up getting hit by a russian border

7:05

and and died it was absolutely terrible

7:07

uh to in these these are civilians just

7:10

trying to flee for safety as a mother

7:12

and her two children uh they look like

7:14

older children that doesn't change the

7:16

fact that they were still their children

7:17

it's absolutely terrible so in just

7:19

kharkiv for example we've had 27

7:21

civilians killed in the last 24 hours

7:24

the un estimates that over 400 civilians

7:28

in ukraine have been killed at this

7:29

point

7:30

zelensky vows to stay in ukraine to win

7:33

a patriotic war and he says that he

7:36

doesn't want to lose what's ours however

7:38

he has made a large sort of u-turn or

7:41

undertaking a large u-turn and that the

7:43

uh well that ukraine essentially is now

7:45

no longer insisting on nato membership

7:48

and there's a belief that maybe this

7:50

would lead to some sort of pullback by

7:52

russia but russia really is calling for

7:54

still despite the third negotiation

7:56

attempt now russia is still pushing for

7:59

a full demilitarization of ukraine it's

8:02

not even clear if ukraine would be

8:05

willing to to

8:07

so far they've said no but even if we

8:09

don't even know if this would be enough

8:10

for russia if ukraine just said hey take

8:12

donbass let's say the eastern region of

8:14

ukraine let's use that as a buffer zone

8:16

we don't even know if that would be good

8:17

enough at the moment

8:18

for for russia and so putin is really

8:21

going all in at this point now we do

8:23

also just have an update coming through

8:26

that uh paypal

8:28

it looks like is potentially suspending

8:30

services now in russia as well

8:33

so these updates are just now coming in

8:35

this follows again a whole host of

8:37

cancellations of services in russia we

8:40

also know that credit card companies

8:42

like

8:43

sorry american express mastercard and

8:45

visa have suspended services for card

8:47

users outside of russia now the problem

8:50

with that is if you're russian and

8:52

you're like i'm getting out of russia

8:53

because i don't like russia anymore and

8:55

all your money is in russian bank

8:56

accounts now you go you use your credit

8:58

card outside of russia it doesn't work

9:00

so big problem we already know apple pay

9:02

and google pay have been having issues

9:04

people get stuck in the subways because

9:06

they can't use this mcdonald's as we've

9:08

mentioned closing all 850 stores

9:12

we'll see again how uh putin's decree

9:14

goes the european commission today

9:16

mentions that they plan to cut the eu

9:19

dependency on russian natural gas by

9:22

two-thirds quote well before 2030

9:25

hopefully so

9:26

uh of course we do know that the russian

9:28

military still outnumbers and out guns

9:30

ukrainians

9:32

we do believe that russia could go dark

9:34

and ultimately shell

9:36

ukrainian cities much more so far since

9:38

the invasions began they've launched 600

9:41

missiles against ukraine with 100 more

9:44

fired just over this weekend

9:46

and 82 despite all this eighty-two

9:49

percent of ukrainians believe that they

9:50

can ultimately drive russians out

9:54

now uh mitch mcconnell mentions that 14

9:56

billion dollars in aid for ukraine is

9:58

likely to be approved very soon

10:01

we also know that amazon has eliminated

10:04

the opportunity for anyone in belarus or

10:07

russia or any company in russia or

10:08

belarus to open up any form of aws

10:11

contract now the universal music group

10:14

has suspended

10:16

its work in uh you in russia rather and

10:20

ge is also quitting russia with the

10:23

exception of essential medical equipment

10:26

bumble is removing its app from the

10:28

russian uh

10:29

versions of the apple app store and the

10:31

google play stores

10:33

the energy secretary today mentioned

10:35

that this our gas prices going up are

10:39

because of putin and because of putin's

10:41

war that it has nothing to do with biden

10:44

or biden's policies that it all has to

10:46

do with putin and putin's war

10:49

we do know that last week we saw

10:51

footage of the

10:53

individual family folks from or or just

10:57

ukrainians

10:58

in their families defending a uh

11:02

ukrainian

11:03

nuclear facility that operates six

11:06

reactors six out of the 15 nuclear

11:09

reactors in ukraine

11:11

this nuclear facility now only has one

11:14

of its six reactors running at 60

11:16

capacity and russians have taken control

11:19

of this despite that initial ukrainian

11:21

resistance this has led to a lot of fear

11:24

that russia is basically trying to wave

11:26

the nuclear nuclear saber so to speak

11:29

and saber rattle nuclear threats without

11:32

actually saber-rattling nuclear threats

11:35

by essentially taking over these nuclear

11:37

power plants

11:39

we know that uh the only men who are

11:41

able to leave are either men who are

11:43

somehow bribing guards who are between

11:46

16 or sorry between 18 and 60 years old

11:48

they're they're all subject to cons

11:50

conscription in ukraine which means

11:52

they're obligated to to serve their

11:54

country in the military for defense and

11:58

uh the only individuals the only men who

11:59

are able to leave are those who either

12:01

have three children or those who have

12:02

been able to basically bribe their way

12:04

through the border

12:05

we know that uh facebook twitter and

12:08

youtube have continued to remove their

12:11

services and a lot of folks are in

12:13

russia and a lot of folks are now

12:15

calling for either putin to find a way

12:18

to

12:19

essentially retire in in a peaceful way

12:22

maybe throw them on an island like

12:24

napoleon bonaparte there have been some

12:25

references to this

12:27

there uh is uh even the potential

12:29

suggestion that if this war continues to

12:32

fail for russia which so far it is that

12:34

there could end up being a coup d'etat

12:36

which is a military overthrow of the

12:38

government in russia especially

12:39

depending on how

12:41

terrible the economy potentially

12:42

collapses estimates now that you could

12:44

see inflation of upwards of 40 percent

12:46

in russia we know the russian rupal

12:49

is now uh sitting at about 120 rupal per

12:53

single dollar putting it well below a

12:55

value of one penny per rupal

12:58

lindsey graham argued this weekend that

13:00

vladimir putin should be quote taken out

13:03

and this is really him saying out loud

13:05

what a lot of people have been saying

13:08

we know that there is a lot of

13:10

censorship uh by russia of twitter and

13:13

facebook making it harder for

13:15

potentially

13:16

the other side of the information

13:18

argument to actually make it over to

13:20

russia we know that elon musk has been

13:23

elon musk has been asked to censor

13:25

russia today on starlink satellites that

13:29

is people using starlink satellite

13:31

internet

13:33

would potentially be censored from being

13:35

able to see russian media like russia

13:37

today

13:38

russia today

13:39

u.s by the way since there's a u.s

13:41

version actually shut down in the u.s

13:43

and all of their employees were fired

13:46

in the u.s it's the u.s version of that

13:48

russian state-run media but uh elon musk

13:51

refused to

13:52

censor anyone he believes that free

13:54

speech stands above anything and uh will

13:58

not censor anyone including russia today

14:00

on the starlink network we know that

14:02

fertilizer is having substantial issues

14:05

not only due to russia purposefully

14:07

halting fertilizer exports purposefully

14:09

jacking up costs of food around the

14:11

world this is just russia giving a

14:13

middle finger to the rest of the world

14:14

but then you also have delivery issues

14:16

right you've got to remember that that

14:17

fedex and ups aren't able to function

14:20

there

14:20

you've got uh

14:22

the

14:23

new journalist suspension the

14:25

independent journalist suspension in

14:27

russia which is another issue they've

14:29

passed a law that essentially creates a

14:31

criminal code for any independent

14:33

reporter in russia who potentially

14:36

spreads whatever they deem to be fake

14:38

news and if you spread in their mind

14:40

fake news in russia about the russian

14:42

military you would be subject to a

14:44

15-year sentence

14:47

for spreading this potential fake news

14:51

you have uh this this real fear now as

14:54

well that uh

14:56

we know that ukraine does not want to be

14:59

occupied the ukrainian insurgency is

15:02

likely to survive

15:04

but there's this fear that what if

15:07

russia starts potentially going down the

15:09

direction of losing

15:11

and if russia starts losing there is

15:13

that fear and we've mentioned this a

15:14

couple times in this video that they

15:15

could really ramp up the aerial

15:17

bombardments in ukraine as just sort of

15:20

a

15:20

actually implementing shock and awe and

15:23

lashing out

15:24

a lot of talk about also

15:27

marupo and the disasters of the safe

15:30

passage corridors here talked about the

15:32

other safe passage corridors earlier as

15:34

well as well as the ones coming forward

15:36

we know that in russia and ukraine

15:39

restaurants are running out of meat and

15:40

fish

15:42

uh and there's even talk about a

15:44

straight-up censorship between well and

15:47

we know this but between

15:50

or so much censorship happening in

15:52

russia that

15:53

family members in ukraine who call their

15:56

family back in russia there are reports

15:58

of this so obviously it's difficult to

16:00

confirm this but there are many reports

16:01

of this that family members in ukraine

16:04

are calling their family in russia or

16:05

people they know in russia and

16:06

describing the atrocities of what's

16:08

happening in ukraine and the folks in in

16:10

russia are responding by saying no that

16:12

that can't be true we see it here on tv

16:15

this is just a a

16:17

mission to rescue and liberate the

16:19

ukrainians from the nazis and that there

16:22

is no uh you know attack on civilians

16:26

when on the flip side obviously here and

16:28

you could see this on my twitter profile

16:30

you can go through my twitter profile

16:31

like history not that i like it but it's

16:33

so you can see it and you could see just

16:36

the absolute atrocities of

16:38

cluster bombs or cluster munitions and

16:40

and bombs hitting residential areas air

16:43

strikes against apartment buildings it's

16:44

absolutely terrible really really

16:46

terrible what's happening in ukraine so

16:48

this catches us up a little bit i'd say

16:49

the biggest next catalysts we have here

16:52

for the russia ukraine crisis are

16:53

determining what those commodities are

16:55

going to be that are going to be on that

16:56

ban list from putin's decree and then

16:59

also what ultimately ends up happening

17:02

with uh after this potential ceasefire

17:04

tomorrow which we'll know about probably

17:07

tonight

17:08

and

17:09

uh

17:11

and then we'll we'll see what happens in

17:12

the coming days the cia and our

17:15

intelligence officers here in the united

17:17

states not too optimistic instead saying

17:19

the next few weeks will continue to be

17:21

very ugly for ukraine

17:23

well folks there you have it thank you

17:25

so much for watching this update on

17:26

ukraine and i'll see you next one bye
