0:00

everyone meet kevin here welcome to an

0:01

episode of real talk where i hold up a

0:04

bottle of tequila because i certainly

0:05

haven't had any uh or uh yeah anyway uh

0:09

let's just get to the point of the video

0:10

look

0:12

uh this morning some people in the

0:13

comments got mad at me

0:15

uh i i talked about uh how

0:18

a couple employees left before a really

0:20

big project many of you know that i'm

0:22

launching a project it's uh it's a huge

0:25

opportunity it's it's something that i'm

0:27

very excited about because like i told

0:29

my course members this morning like i

0:31

can't i can't say the words like oh i

0:32

guarantee but i

0:34

feel as though uh i'd be in a position

0:37

to say like i guarantee it's gonna make

0:38

lots of money for for lots of people

0:40

obviously you can't make that guarantee

0:41

but the point is like it's something

0:43

that is so big to me and it's so

0:46

important uh and uh it's something i'm

0:48

so excited about we don't have all the

0:50

details perfect we've got a really great

0:52

game plans

0:54

and um

0:55

the uh the you know core folks who were

0:58

working with me on this uh were were not

1:00

just employees uh these are folks that

1:03

uh have have been you know uh

1:06

probably the closest friends i've had

1:08

for years and to see uh to not only see

1:12

uh

1:13

well to not only get rug pulled by uh by

1:16

by uh you know people that are really

1:18

close to you uh but then also to see

1:20

people leave to like a a you know

1:22

a previous or or an ex-employee that

1:25

that is no longer with the company is

1:27

like kind of like a double burn that's

1:29

like ins add insult to injury right uh

1:31

so so this isn't like me trying to like

1:33

air dirty laundry it's just to say like

1:35

yeah like a this morning like i'm pissed

1:38

right it's kind of like the the steps of

1:40

feelings right it's like wow and it's

1:43

like and tesla's down it's like oh what

1:44

a phenomenal day for kevin like this

1:47

just goes down on the record books

1:50

but uh it's it's just to say and you

1:52

know i'm not here to name names or

1:54

complain about stuff or whatever it's

1:55

like hey look if you have a better

1:56

opportunity that's great i i

1:59

i hope the world that people get better

2:01

opportunities in fact i talk about

2:04

better opportunities in front of people

2:06

that work with me part of me is just

2:07

like maybe i and there's a broader

2:09

lesson in all this that i want to talk

2:10

about too maybe maybe i should stop

2:12

telling people like go get a job at a

2:14

coding boot camp because you could make

2:15

six figures quickly you know eventually

2:17

once you build up experience you can

2:19

make more uh you know and and uh you

2:22

know maybe that's where people are going

2:24

but it it it seems like you know when

2:26

people leave you for uh for for

2:30

almost guaranteed a pay cut it's like

2:32

wow maybe i'm the [ __ ] uh and maybe

2:34

that is true maybe i mean i

2:37

really don't think i am

2:38

but then again nobody thinks that they

2:40

are themselves uh you know i i

2:43

i'm uh i'm a big fan of work hard play

2:45

hard

2:46

you know this is why for example when i

2:47

went to cabo san lucas and invited all

2:50

of my employees

2:52

we spent sixty thousand dollars for a

2:54

five-day trip uh you know and that

2:56

sounds really frivolous but it was a

2:58

phenomenal experience you know one of

3:00

the best experiences i've ever had it

3:01

was so incredibly fun uh and again

3:04

that's insane it's it's totally like

3:06

ludicrous mode right or like we just

3:07

went to hawaii also with with staff and

3:10

it's like wow hawaii so freaking fun uh

3:13

you know and and that's that's probably

3:15

a 20 000 trip would took the family as

3:17

well so uh that's in it it's just it's

3:19

things like that where it's like oh man

3:21

it's it's not it's not about like oh

3:24

let's sit here and work 80 hours a week

3:26

right it's

3:27

life is about in my opinion you show up

3:29

at work you make money for the business

3:31

and then you play hard either with your

3:34

co-workers or your other friends i don't

3:35

care it's a you know it doesn't have to

3:37

be me right so

3:39

but i'm a big fan of of work hard play

3:41

hard so so maybe uh maybe maybe i'm too

3:43

much of an [ __ ] during the work hard

3:45

part you know you can't help but like

3:46

reflect inwards a little bit but what's

3:48

really cool and this is sort of the

3:50

lesson that i wanted to talk about in

3:52

this video

3:53

is that uh when unexpected things happen

3:57

uh oftentimes there's there's a

4:00

substantial silver lining

4:02

that uh that may not be apparent

4:05

immediately but

4:06

for me has already become very apparent

4:08

uh and that's that

4:10

uh i'm

4:11

very motivated now like this is like

4:14

some of the best motivation ever from

4:16

me to get my hands dirty on all the

4:19

stuff that i was was you know

4:21

relying on others to do

4:23

uh and uh and and now i'm i'm in a place

4:26

having talked to so many people today

4:28

about uh you know some of our

4:29

transitions i'm in a place where i think

4:31

our opportunities now are going to be

4:34

bigger than i thought before they're

4:35

going to happen faster than i thought

4:37

before uh like

4:39

things are looking up uh you know when

4:42

plans that we have for the channel for

4:44

videos for

4:45

future content

4:47

things are looking better than they did

4:49

before

4:50

yeah and what's really incredible about

4:52

that is i don't know if it's i'm looking

4:54

at the things with a different lens or

4:57

it's just that like i'm realizing like

4:58

nope kevin's going hands-on it's kind of

5:00

like hey you're running walmart and all

5:02

your cashiers just worked walked out and

5:04

you're the manager in the back like

5:05

picking up trash or trying to like like

5:07

you know motivate people to do their

5:09

packaging right uh it's like all right

5:11

um can you guys take over back here i

5:13

got to go up and handle the registers

5:15

and it's like i got a big line at the

5:16

registers but i'm like wait wait a

5:17

minute this ain't that bad i get to i

5:19

get to interact with customers again

5:21

so uh uh you know this morning was very

5:25

rough uh now is uh actually very good

5:29

i'm i'm very happy i'm very optimistic

5:31

uh i'm super happy about the hundreds of

5:34

people who have uh have uh

5:37

almost probably closer to a thousand

5:38

people who have reached out uh in ways

5:40

of offering support uh and i think

5:42

broadly there's there's a way of

5:44

applying this to to our livelihoods and

5:47

to the stock market too it's that uh

5:49

good times generally follow bad times

5:52

and so uh you know if if we have really

5:56

bad uh a really bad time in life uh loss

5:59

of family member loss of job loss of of

6:02

a trade or made a big mistake or

6:05

whatever you could have uh you could

6:07

have massive depression uh and and i'm

6:10

not immune to that you know you can have

6:12

four or five months sometimes year-long

6:14

depression but it you'd usually take

6:16

some form of spark and i think there's

6:18

the lesson right some form of spark to

6:21

like

6:22

make you want to change

6:24

uh and hey you know got a haircut okay

6:26

getting dirty again going all in it's

6:28

like wait let's let's no problem let's

6:31

pour another cup of coffee work harder

6:33

and and you know pick it up by the

6:34

bootstraps and keep moving forward

6:36

nothing like nothing's gonna stop me

6:38

from wanting to achieve my dreams

6:40

certainly i'm not gonna let somebody

6:41

stay in the way of that uh i you know i

6:44

can only wish other people the best good

6:46

luck uh you know i uh obviously if i

6:50

could have scripted it i would have

6:52

loved to uh had people you know say

6:55

something and this would be a

6:56

recommendation uh for for you is like

6:58

hey like

7:00

uh you know if i'm an employee and let's

7:02

say you're my boss it's like hey you

7:03

know i'm uh

7:04

i maybe i don't like this line of work i

7:06

want to get into a different line of

7:08

work i want to get into a different

7:09

field even if that means i'm getting

7:11

paid a third of what i'm getting paid

7:12

now uh i want to get into a different

7:14

line of work because i have a passion

7:15

for it's like hey great how can we help

7:17

you transition to that right we don't

7:19

want to burn bridges we would want to

7:21

help uh people transition

7:23

the worst time would be to do that would

7:25

be like right before a uh

7:28

you know massive launch of something uh

7:31

you know and then sia you know be we'll

7:33

be gone and and you know now

7:36

uh you know would be really nice to do

7:38

something like hey let's let's get

7:40

through this launch and then by the way

7:42

hey by the end of the year we want to

7:43

transition to this or whatever great

7:45

totally fair like people change their

7:47

opinions you know it's like you go to

7:49

marriage you have a problem you go to

7:50

marriage counseling you go to marriage

7:51

counseling and you uh uh you you either

7:54

decide you know what no we're gonna part

7:56

ways and we're going to do so

7:58

methodically and and peacefully or or

8:01

or not something but you know other

8:03

times uh

8:05

sometimes that doesn't work out so i

8:07

don't know i guess everything's

8:08

everything's up to the individual uh

8:10

ultimately yeah because

8:12

usually it's the opposite too like and

8:14

it's always like is that a double

8:15

standard it's always the other way

8:16

around too because you can take the flip

8:18

side approach and oftentimes when like

8:21

managers are like hey you're

8:22

underperforming you're underperforming

8:23

you're underperforming and then like you

8:25

go to fire somebody as a manager

8:27

usually you don't want people working

8:28

for a company anymore after they've like

8:31

either been fired or you've given them

8:33

notice because then it's just like

8:35

you know usually bad things come in the

8:37

last couple weeks of somebody working

8:39

there uh so

8:41

either it's like hey in six months you

8:43

know i want to transition to something

8:44

or just buy is usually how these things

8:47

go from either side so

8:50

again like if i could have scripted my

8:51

own reality i would have preferred the

8:53

sixth month

8:54

uh let's let's transition together

8:56

because that also preserves

8:58

relationships right um but uh

9:01

you know oh well the big lesson though

9:04

is

9:04

uh that spark

9:06

when this when if if you hit such a low

9:09

that it now gives you a spark you have

9:12

to just look at it and say thank you so

9:14

i'll say that thank you for rug pulling

9:16

me it's been incredibly inspiring and

9:18

i'm very motivated now so thank you and

9:21

for all those of you watching uh if uh

9:24

you don't like something i say

9:26

don't watch

9:27

if you want to complain in the comments

9:30

about something i say that's okay i will

9:32

see your comments

9:34

uh i'll i'll take some offense uh but

9:38

i'll get over it and i respect and

9:40

appreciate all those of you that are

9:41

like have it stop complaining like got

9:44

it

9:45

you're right i should stop complaining

9:47

but i can do whatever i want

9:50

so anyway thanks so much for being here

9:52

thanks thanks for watching supporting

9:54

whether you like me hate me whether you

9:55

leave mean comments or what i still

9:57

appreciate you watching uh and hopefully

10:00

if anything you could always learn

10:02

something coming here that's always the

10:04

goal every video is what i always ask

10:06

every video i make what what can you

10:08

learn from watching my video uh i never

10:10

want you to watch a video of mine and

10:12

realize i didn't learn anything today

10:13

because if that ever happens um

10:16

then i know i'll lose you and i don't

10:18

want that

10:19

i've already lost enough
