the gasoline man

during the exercise the team sits on one

side of the room

you will sit in the middle of the room

behind the table

on the table are some papers and you are

holding a pen

you tell the team that they are

traveling through the desert in a bus on

a continent very far away

and that they just ran out of gasoline

and are stuck

it seems like good luck that they just

stranded in front of a gas station

tell them you're sitting in a gasoline

station and you're the owner

the only thing is that the gasoline

station is open until 6 pm and it's

already 6 15.

their airplane home is leaving soon so

they really need to have gasoline right

now to go to the airport

tell them that one by one they will have

to try to convince you as the owner of

the gas station to give them the

gasoline

but as you imagine you won't give in so

easily

you will act very busy with the

paperwork in front of you and are very

stressed out

and also you don't speak their language

very well in this case english

now one by one the participants will

come to you trying to convince you to

open the gasoline pumps to fuel the bus

and head to the airport

in this case the first person comes up

and says

station it's just 15 minutes past your

closing time and we really should go to

the airport

now the second person can try

please we have to get home my mother is

sick and she might pass away soon i have

to catch an airplane and therefore need

gasoline please go now no no no i'm very

busy no open now tomorrow 8 o'clock

tomorrow come back

it's now obvious you won't give in just

by listening to their needs and their

sad stories

now the third person comes up and says

please please open the pumps i will i

will pay you 200

i know what money very busy stressed now

i have to work please go go come back

tomorrow

what do you need to open the pumps says

a fourth person

nothing i need finnish letter no need

anything go now or i call police now go

the fifth person listens very well and

asks

what kind of letter are you writing

why you need to know it's an american

letter very busy last warning now oracle

police

the sixth person comes up and says

can i maybe help you with the letter i

can speak english and i can write a

letter for you what kind of letter is it

why you want to know it's for daughter

immigration letters she wants study in

america i don't know

no understand

i can help you with it the moment

someone finds out you need help with the

letter you give in calm down and let the

one who found out help you

this person now sit next to you and

starts looking at the letter

so it's for your daughter's university

application in america

what do you want to write about
