Behind the Scenes: What it's like Running for Governor of CA.

all right kevin we're on day three how

do you think it's going so far

i'm blown away honestly like this

weekend i'm like oh man like

what if nobody cares what if nobody's

interested like what if we're just

another name on a list

there's a lot of like emotion that goes

into this i think it's worth telling a

little bit about what's been going on

on saturday we're like oh we want to

announce on monday because this

announcement for the actual campaign

like going official

has been this big like anchor we've been

calling it we want to just open the door

and like we're announced

you know it's official because literally

everybody in the comments are like oh i

thought this was a joke

and once the announcement is like people

like oh this is amazing and people are

supporting people are donating and

blowing away the donations we'll we'll

talk about those

we're all sending out emails to pr

trying to get kevin an interview even on

a press release

call everyone and i'm gonna stand here

and just yell

whip everyone the the office

of meet kevin paffraff for governor

prepare our garage we planned this

announcement video

and we wanted to do like dollar shave

club style announcement video

it's our first shoot together guys we're

doing it

suit with socks are we using this mug

for anything i think so

so there's a scene where jack his son is

going to give him

hey daddy use your coffee thanks jack

daddy's going to run for governor now

okay walk off camera and then we cut to

the switches opening

how do you feel this is your first time

on on one of these cameras

on on your steady yeah it's exciting

also wait did daddy get this short

do we want our children having zero

financial education

and being incapable of getting a job at

18 years old

jack can you help him because he's going

to drop it all right

one how was it a lot but you know we're

staying productive and it feels like

we're actually building something so

it's good but then we're like oh my gosh

how do we fit

like a whole platform into an

announcement video we have this really

amazing announcement video but then i'm

concerned that wait a minute like

uh we gotta show policy not just

entertainment right so we've got all

these struggles and balancing

so sunday night at 11

30 at night i'm like sweet we're posting

this video tomorrow and then i'm sitting

there like wait a minute

policies policies i stayed up until

four in the morning monsters and two

more cups of coffee

to film an announcement video for 8 a.m

monday i'm like

kevin just just delay the announcement

today and i'm like no i had to get in

the zone for that video

and there are two things that got me

into the zone ac dc

and imagine dragons radioactive

thunderstruck

highway to hell back in black that was

money right there if you look

really closely in my eyes it's like

they're like this big and like red

nobody's commented on it but now that

i've mentioned it you'll notice it

so it's called an easter egg we've been

talking about doing maybe like a press

conference on monday

and maybe inviting uh subscribers

uh or anybody in the community who wants

to come or maybe press without i have no

idea

uh we're just sending out emails

announcing the campaign hoping uh we can

get some interviews

oh you know we're just vibing with the

emails we gotta get it by monday

and it's like friday afternoon almost

evening so we're on a little bit of a

time crunch

let's do it now dial that call call

everyone

well what if we did it at a hotel like

an iconic la hotel or something like

that

well we have coveted guidelines we have

a room for 500 but you can only have 150

people in and somebody has to make sure

you don't go over capacity

and everybody who shows up to the

conference has to show proof of

vaccination or proof of a negative test

within the last 24 hours

and i'm like geez man the requirements

to do business and get like

come on let me pop up a few hepa filters

and let's go

we get to monday and we're like finally

you know what we we just won't do the

the hotel event or whatever

let's just post uh on social so we post

on social the video we post on instagram

uh this picture of me at a podium which

that has a whole story about trying to

find a podium

i think it helped lead to a lot of

donations and thank you by the way

i just looked in like the last two hours

uh we've already raised eight thousand

seven hundred ninety dollars with an

average contribution of forty two

dollars

wow day one wow in the last 24 hours

we've raised thirty seven thousand

ninety eight dollars with 747

contributors

one person donated five thousand

dollars absolutely mind blowing and my

goal

is to show the world and youtube through

these vlogs

exactly how we spend every dime i'm not

gonna spend five million dollars on a

grizzly bear tv commercial like we're

actually gonna make this money go

far so how else are we gonna be uh

an establishment like newsome we have to

be really efficient with our money

but we also need help so does every

tesla key look like this yeah hit the

trunk

whoa whoa so crazy

some people like oh kevin why don't you

just fund the campaign gavin newsom

spent 50 million dollars

in 2018. i don't have 50 million dollars

i wish i had been doing

personally i just think they don't know

how to budget and spend their money but

that's also one of the reasons i'm

running is because we think newsom

doesn't know how to budget and spend

money

that's why california broken so now

we're thinking like maybe maybe we

should take the real estate wrap off my

car

you know and just leave it incognito but

personally i kind of think it'd be cool

if it was like oh there's kevin's tesla

and now it's meet kevin for governor

cause it's like so part of the identity

of me having my face on my car for the

last 10 years

uh it has been 10 years it's crazy i've

had a face on my car for 10 years

face is spotless

great job yeah nice the problem with my

car though is

we have these weirdos now driving around

uh where where our campaign area is and

yesterday like there was literally this

dude in an

suv just glearing at us like this and

then kind of trying to covertly record

just just literally

going by like this

is all of a sudden it's gonna be like

now i got a gun it's weird like this is

so bizarre

how many bugs have gotten now planned

planted by newsom and the republican

party or the

the competitors who needs to bug someone

who's fully transparent

what else have we had oh i had no idea

we would actually get prescov

because you've got like 26 compel

competitors

for governor and we actually had

newsweek cover us

we've had some local papers reach out

some podcasts reach out

guys guys look whoa

yes it's officially begun yeah request

california politics oh man that's big

interview confirmed that's super cool

chance we might even potentially get an

national news channel i just got

confirmation

the business business damn it that's

mainstream man that's mainstreaming

close to prime time

on the inside i'm like just thinking

about it it's like that's scary

like i've never done that before but

anyway uh it's

multiple donations from florida and

texas get the californians back to

california

so in terms of what to expect going

forward since it's kind of like hey how

do you balance on this well first of all

i ain't f and leaving i'm not going

anywhere

i'm still doing my market uh live stream

still doing course member live streams

and still posting my normal content

really the the plan of this campaign

is uh more and if we can add more

finance and news content great but let's

also add

campaign content and so our vision is

hey if people

like what we say about campaign related

topics they may

might discover us and then they might

discover they like our finance content

my big goal here is to be the most

transparent

governor or even candidate that anybody

has ever seen

like literally everything so that's uh
