0:00

Donald Trump in the presser just gave us

0:02

a little bit of a hint of what's going

0:03

on with the Chinese trade negotiations.

0:06

They began today uh at around 100 p.m.

0:08

London time, so kind of later in the day

0:11

for uh you know European meeting

0:13

potentially because of travel times or

0:15

jet lag or whatever. But markets mostly

0:17

all day long seemed like they were

0:19

waiting for some form of update on

0:21

Chinese trade negotiations. mostly

0:23

because even a 30% tariff on Chinese

0:26

goods and 10% uh tariff from China on US

0:29

goods plus fentanyl tariffs is still a

0:32

substantially larger set of tariffs than

0:34

what we've been used to historically.

0:36

Obviously markets are wondering what the

0:39

longerterm impacts of this could be

0:41

specifically regarding potentially chip

0:43

restrictions or rare earth mineral

0:45

restrictions. All of these that could

0:47

affect stocks like either Nvidia, which

0:49

had optimism that the talks were going

0:52

on, but as we didn't get any news, we

0:53

saw Nvidia rotate down. When we look at

0:56

the NASDAQ, you pretty much had a

0:58

relatively flat day as we were waiting

0:59

for news or some kind of bullish talk

1:01

from Donald Trump. The only thing we

1:04

really got was bullish talk, mostly in

1:07

the form of not hating on Elon Moore on

1:09

Tesla. That's because Elon or Trump said

1:12

he's he doesn't know if Elon's called.

1:15

uh he used to have a good relationship

1:17

with Elon. He might move his Tesla

1:19

around a little bit to different

1:21

properties and away from the White

1:22

House. So, it's kind of like, you know,

1:25

he Elon's moved into this category of

1:27

like, you used to be my friend and you

1:29

no longer are, but I'm not going to poop

1:31

on you. And this talk about Donald Trump

1:34

still liking Starlink was supportive

1:36

probably to Tesla stock here, indicating

1:38

that Trump isn't trying to go all out

1:39

vindictive here. But markets were really

1:41

looking for some form of enthusiasm on

1:45

trade and we didn't really get that

1:47

today. Instead, what we got is that uh

1:49

talks are going to continue for a second

1:51

day. There was an anticipation that

1:53

talks could continue tomorrow for a

1:55

second day. Uh we have uh restrictions

1:58

on exports to them for certain computer

2:00

chips and things like jet engines or

2:02

ethane uh not to be confused with

2:05

methane. And uh then uh then of course

2:08

China controls about 90% of the rare

2:09

earths market. So you have limitations

2:12

on rare earths uh that uh that you know

2:15

China is slowly enabling certain

2:18

American companies to start buying those

2:20

rare earths again mostly because China

2:23

not only has the rare earth supply but

2:24

the processing power. Uh and so the

2:27

latest update is really just that

2:29

representatives for quote both nations

2:30

per Bloomberg here ended their first day

2:32

of negotiations in London after more

2:34

than 6 hours of negotiations. Talks

2:37

concluded around 8:00 p.m. local time.

2:40

That's potentially closer to 7 hours.

2:41

And advisers will meet again tomorrow at

2:43

10 a.m. So about 3 hours earlier than

2:46

they did today. So in other words, we

2:48

could get some more updates tomorrow

2:49

morning. Donald Trump says he's only

2:51

getting good reports and he hopes that

2:53

they're doing well. However, he does say

2:55

that China's not easy and that they take

2:58

advantage of us and he kind of goes down

2:59

that whole diet tribe that he usually

3:01

does. Although, this is very typical of

3:03

Trump because I mean, he's trying to

3:04

also help his team negotiate. So, I

3:06

don't think we really got anything super

3:08

exciting out of China today and we

3:10

probably won't until tomorrow. Though

3:12

after these talks conclude, I expect

3:15

both sides are going to announce some

3:17

form of progress mostly because uh both

3:22

sides want to show their people that

3:25

they are working for the people, right?

3:28

Take a look at uh some commentary that

3:30

we have from the uh embassy over here. I

3:34

thought it was interesting the timing of

3:36

this post right here. you have Chinese

3:38

defense spokesperson US weapons cannot

3:40

save Taiwan. Now I thought that was

3:43

really interesting because like while

3:46

negotiations are going on you literally

3:49

have the Chinese embassy and the US

3:51

going you know those US weapons

3:55

they're not strong enough to take Taiwan

3:58

in terms of defense. This also comes at

4:00

the same time as we hear that uh

4:03

shipment data is uh uh you know

4:06

plummeting to uh to China was down about

4:09

30%. Well, I want to see where that stat

4:11

was. I think it may here it is. Chinese

4:12

exports slid 35% year-on-year in May.

4:15

New data showed largest drop since

4:17

February of 2020. Mind you that in May

4:20

would have still included uh you know

4:22

the period up to about May 12th when we

4:24

got the loosening of that 145%.

4:28

Uh Chinese tariffs chip stocks such as

4:30

Nvidia and AMD rallied Monday morning

4:32

boosting the tech heavy NASDAQ. Right.

4:34

Well, something we mentioned this

4:36

morning as well in the uh alpha report

4:38

which you could join in my pre-market

4:40

live streams. I do a course member live

4:42

stream and uh sort of an alpha report is

4:44

I talked about how important this line

4:46

was going to be today. the 12248 line.

4:49

And it's remarkable because you might

4:50

say like, "Oh, sure, Kevin. You're

4:52

looking at this in the past." Yeah, but

4:53

if you join the alpha report, you'll see

4:55

me talk about it here when we were at

4:58

119. This is when I was talking about it

5:01

and it's written in a report timestamped

5:03

that like, "Hey, you want to be careful

5:05

that 12248 line. I don't know that we're

5:07

going to break it today." And sure

5:08

enough, you got almost a perfect reject

5:10

right here. And you almost double

5:11

rejected it here. Now, that said, Nvidia

5:13

and AMD could rally tomorrow if we get

5:16

really good news. So if you're trading

5:17

these, you got to pay attention to what

5:19

Trump is saying on Truth Social

5:20

tomorrow. Obviously, this goes without

5:22

saying, but beyond that, you also want

5:23

to be, you know, broadly paying

5:26

attention to, hey, like, is this going

5:28

to drag on like it did in 2019, 2018,

5:31

2019, and 20. The only reason our trade

5:34

negotiations with China ended was

5:35

because of COVID in 2020 and we came to

5:38

some compromised deal that ended up

5:40

hurting American farmers to the benefit

5:41

of Brazilian farmers. You know, we ended

5:43

up having to bail out our farming

5:45

industry in part because of the tariff

5:46

negotiations and how long they took in

5:48

2018. Markets are really hopeful that we

5:51

can quickly resolve uh and that the US

5:54

GDP is strong enough. Uh jobs report is

5:58

stable enough right now to suggest that

5:59

GDP is fine. The uh Federal Reserve

6:02

might end up cutting once or twice at

6:04

the end of the year. Uh that would be a

6:06

tailwind to the economy. You've got the

6:08

Atlanta Fed GDP, which obviously is very

6:11

high right now because you had such a

6:13

negative last quarter, and we're not

6:15

importing as much right now. What

6:17

matters most is what's going to happen

6:18

in Q3.

6:20

Where is this going to stabilize? Are we

6:21

going to stabilize under zero? Are we

6:23

going to stabilize under one, under two?

6:25

You know, anything over one, I think,

6:26

would be very, very positive. And that's

6:28

the trajectory where we were before we

6:30

were slightly over two. So, very

6:32

important. Uh, and I'm curious to see

6:34

how these negotiations go. But as

6:36

history says, it'll likely take longer.

6:38

China accounts for almost 70% of the

6:41

world's production of rare earth

6:42

minerals. H, that's interesting. I've

6:44

seen stats uh indicate

6:47

90%. So, I think this might be a

6:49

difference between uh like the the

6:51

actual rare earths uh and rare earth

6:54

refining capacity and then mining

6:56

capacity. So, there could be some

6:58

differences there. Specifically, the

7:00

Trump admin is prepared to remove a

7:01

recent spate of measures against chip

7:03

design software, jet engine parts,

7:05

chemicals, nuclear material, and others.

7:08

So, it almost sounds like we're cleaning

7:09

up little pieces. It's like a very

7:12

incremental almost deal. Trump

7:14

administration has said this morning

7:15

expects a handshake. Very, very high-end

7:18

Nvidia stuff is not going to get

7:20

negotiated away. However, maybe the

7:21

lower-end chip uh Chinese chips that'll

7:24

be a big boost to ch to Nvidia. Remember

7:26

in the last Nvidia earnings, Nvidia took

7:29

over a $4 billion hit in the quarter. I

7:31

think it was an $8 billion hit in total

7:33

because they're not able to export those

7:35

cheaper I think they're the H20 chips.

7:37

If we get a deal tomorrow that says

7:39

Nvidia can start, you know, resuming

7:41

their export, which I expect. I expect

7:43

this. Okay, expect you're going to get a

7:46

resumption of those cheaper chips.

7:49

Nvidia is going to boom. You might hit

7:50

all-time highs. I mean, next stop in my

7:53

opinion on Nvidia because this is a cash

7:55

cow of a machine. They dump like the bag

7:59

holder of the AI trade is going to be

8:01

Coreweave in the long term. Not in the

8:03

near term. It's a great play in the

8:04

near-term. Bad play in my opinion, very

8:06

long term. But I think we could break

8:07

through this 164 level. So, I'm I'm

8:10

pretty bullish on these trade

8:12

negotiations with Nvidia. I don't think

8:14

macro is really going to go poopy dupy

8:16

until at the earliest in the third

8:17

quarter. And so, you can't really be

8:19

bearish on it right now. It's pretty

8:20

impressive. So, got to give uh excuse

8:23

me, credit where credit's due and we'll

8:25

see what happens with the negotiation,

8:26

but I I do certainly hope that uh the

8:29

trade war comes to a complete end. And

8:31

uh I'll knock on wood for some very good

8:32

news. But otherwise, kind of quiet in

8:34

terms of China trade news. Hey, quick

8:36

reminder. If you want to earn a 5% yield

8:39

plus all of the upside in my real estate

8:42

startup, we are offering a nonacredited

8:45

investor round where we will pay you a

8:48

5% yield plus you get all of the upside

8:51

in the stock when your stock converts in

8:54

the future. It gives you an opportunity

8:55

to diversify away from rich stock market

8:58

valuations. Diversify away from most

9:00

tariff risk. Diversify away from the

9:02

craziness of the treasuries market,

9:04

especially with these Moody's

9:05

downgrades. you diversify into

9:07

fixerupper real estate, which is what I

9:09

believe I do best. This is my baby. I

9:12

call it my little Birkshire Hathaway.

9:14

Now, maybe I'm biased, but I've got over

9:16

$5 million of my own money invested into

9:18

this business, and I'm so excited for

9:21

what I think we're going to be able to

9:22

do with this business over not just the

9:25

next years, but the next decades. So, if

9:27

you want to invest in my real estate

9:29

startup, go to househack.com and know

9:32

that I will do everything for this

9:34

business in my power to make sure we can

9:36

do the absolute best that we can. Make

9:38

sure to read the solicitations and

9:40

disclosures on the House hack website

9:43

because there is risk with every

9:44

investment.
