him right now and if he wins he would

become the youngest governor in

California's history Kevin joins us now

to talk about his campaign gubernatorial

candidate Kevin pafrath am I doing okay

with that you're doing great right down

the middle pafroth you nailed it I'm a

JFK style Democrat I'm right in the

middle as well you know I love it

because I'm on your website and one of

the very first things it says is Kevin

pathrath pronounced path rap so I do

like I do like the meet Kevin campaign

as well so you your YouTube channel is

called meet Kevin it's extremely

successful but now you're deciding to

punish yourself and put your hat into

the political Arena tell me why

I'm running to be governor of California

because I'm so worried that in 20 years

my children are going to look at me

they're three and five right now and in

20 years they're going to say Dad why

did you pick California to raise us in

and that's what I don't want I want

California to be exceptional I want my

children to be proud of the state in 20

years and right now the fact that we're

ranked 40th in schools we're the fifth

largest economy in the world but we

can't even help people not die on the

street due to homelessness it's

unacceptable we've got major Californian

problems and we've got a failed leader

running the state and that's why this

recall is happening it's not a

republican recall it's a Californian

recall we need a better leader that's

why we got to vote Yes on Kevin

pfeffrath yeah there you go so on your

uh website you have why yes on the

recall and I think this is really

compelling because you have all these

false claims that you say were made by

the governor and then you factually back

it up let's start with the first one

Governor claims we have 75.7 billion

dollars in Surplus suggesting California

is flush with money is that true

it's absolutely not look here's the

thing California Surplus was created

half by the federal government they

double counted this money and then the

other half was spent on vote buying

schemes like forgiving traffic tickets

to where now the LA time says we're

actually going into a 12 billion dollar

deficit Governor Newsom spending like

this money is going to keep coming year

after year but he doesn't understand the

finances of it I don't think he's even

paying attention because the reality is

this Surplus came from a boom in IPOs

initial public offerings in the stock

market which I study every single day

and the reality is the boom's over the

IPL boom is over we're not going to have

that massive windfall of money in 2021

you know when we do our reconciliation

next year like we did from the 2020

stock market but governor knows some

spending like this money is just going

to keep coming forever the reality is if

we keep going the way we're running this

state right now for 20 years we're gonna

be bankrupt are you getting any pushback

from the Democratic Party

the Democratic party is trying to

pretend I don't exist right now in some

part because they're suggesting oh just

vote Yes or sorry vote no other recalls

what they're suggesting keep Newsome and

then leave the second part of the ballot

blank I think this is Un-American to

leave part of the ballot blank everybody

should be filling in the second part of

the ballot they should get educated

about their options I believe they

should go to meet kevin.com and consider

voting for Kevin pafrath on the second

question but I think the reason the

Democratic party is a little confused is

because they're trying to call this a

republican recall but now we're leading

in the polls making it making sure

Californians know this is not a

republican recall it is a recall of a

failed leader Gavin Newsom and we just

need a new Centrist with real solutions

and that's what we have yeah you're very

bold because you are going out there and

saying hey we need this emergency plan I

guess if it if the recall actually goes

through but then you're also backing

that up with a lot of policies saying

you're going to do this you're going to

do that you brought up a poll there is a

recent poll has you in the as the the

front runner 27 percent Larry Elder at

23 percent the margin of error is 5.4 so

you're kind of neck and neck with with

elder what do you think is going to set

you apart other than the D after your

name

yeah absolutely well here's what we got

to remember is that uh Larry Elder

believes that he can go into Governor

government and just veto whatever the

Democrats do that was possible under

Arnold Schwarzenegger's governorship

when Democrats only had 60 to 64 control

in Congress now the assembly and Senate

have 72 to 75 percent control we've gone

so far to the left side in the assembly

and in the Senate that there's no way a

republican Governor is going to be able

to do anything so I personally believe

the Democratic party isn't even

concerned and this is why they're

potentially saying leave the second part

of the ballot blank I think they think

if a republican Governor gets in the

legislature is just going to run the

state Republican Governor is going to be

a lame duck for a year nothing's going

to get done in 2022 the Democrats are

going to say see should have had a

Democrat Republican couldn't get

anything done I don't want to gamble

with Californians lives for a year I

want to get stuff done in the next year

because we're running out of time we're

going to go bankrupt if we don't start

solving the issues we have homelessness

housing traffic crime water fire we got

to stop misleading Californians be

transparent with Californians and honest

with them and operate the state with a

business mindset while also respecting

government negotiations and politics

that we have you know it's interesting

you brought up that point because I've

said that to every gubernatorial

candidate I've talked to who is a

republican how are you going to work

with these very left uh State Assembly

and state state senate State Assembly so

how would you work with them if you are

more of a moderate you called yourself a

JFK Democrat how would you get anything

done

here's what we're going to do within the

first 60 days and the full plan for this

first 60 days we're going to make sure

we have beds for 160 000 homeless

individuals everyone we're going to make

sure they get food mental health

education or or support substance abuse

support every dollar we spend on

substance abuse saves three dollars in

crime we're going to be efficient with

what we do and after 60 days of my

Administration nobody Sleeps on our

streets no more tense cities there no

nobody's getting locked up nobody's

going to jail but nobody's allowed on

our streets anymore we're gonna make

sure people have facilities they can go

there if they want but they cannot sleep

on my streets and after 60 days nobody's

sleeping on the streets anymore we

finally have cleaner and safer streets

that's going to be a massive win for

everyone's District in California now I

go to legislature and say look we've got

a much cleaner State we've started

dealing with the problems we have on our

streets now let's deal with the causes

of homelessness Let's Talk education

infrastructure crime policing and let's

have a massive infrastructure bill that

both Republicans and Democrats can get

behind let's take advantage of this this

a power that we have in California the

money that we do have and let's finally

do right with common sense solve our

fires solve our Water Crisis and do

things that make sense like teach
