0:00

well Donald Trump is back to freaking

0:01

out about the mainstream media and now

0:04

he's demanding the killing of the press

0:06

act in case you don't know what that is

0:09

I'll give you a quick primer basically

0:11

it is a bill that has already been

0:13

passed by the house which is interesting

0:16

because the house is Republican

0:17

controlled and it's now pending the

0:20

Senate's passing which is controlled 51

0:23

to 49 by democrats Donald Trump wants

0:27

this bill to be killed the Press Act is

0:31

known as the protect reporters from

0:33

exploitive estate spying act Yeah so

0:39

basically when a journalist conducts an

0:42

investigation or a whistleblower leaks

0:44

them information or somebody working at

0:47

a company leaks something to a

0:48

journalist journalists are often

0:50

provided what's known as a journalistic

0:53

protection those are enshrined in law in

0:55

about 49 different states and they

0:58

protect journalists from a whole host of

1:01

their sources being revealed even in

1:04

court cases and the idea is that

1:07

journalists are supposed to be able to

1:09

use that protection to let people trust

1:12

the journalist that the journalist will

1:14

keep that person's identity secret so

1:17

let's say you were working for Bernie

1:19

maid off and you're like man I wish I

1:21

could get this out that Bernie maid off

1:23

is a Ponzi and this is all a scam what

1:25

do I do well you could call the New York

1:28

Times basically and go yo Sky of Ponzi

1:31

CES some evidence please don't tell

1:33

anyone about this because Bernie's going

1:35

to have me killed well Donald Trump does

1:39

not like that protection Donald Trump

1:42

wants to make sure that protection is

1:43

removed because he does not like that

1:47

journalists can leak information and

1:50

then have their sources protected

1:52

because he calls the mainstream media

1:54

fake news disinformation propaganda

1:58

agency and frankly that's potentially at

2:01

least in his opinion more aligned with

2:02

the left and the right but it's also not

2:05

just his opinion consider this 70% of

2:09

Americans if you go back 50 years 70% of

2:12

Americans per Gallop polls on a survey

2:14

they did right before the election used

2:15

to trust the media great or fair deal

2:18

well I guess that survey goes back 50

2:19

years that goes back 50 years 70% used

2:22

to trust the media a quote great or Fair

2:25

Deal that is now down to just

2:28

31% of Republicans actually trust the

2:31

mainstream media a great or Fair Deal oh

2:34

I'm sorry I misread that for all

2:37

Americans that is just down to

2:41

31% so in other words you've more than

2:43

haved the level of trust in the

2:45

mainstream media but what I actually

2:47

wrote here is amongst Republicans you're

2:51

down to

2:52

12% trust at a fair or great deal so

2:57

even fair do you trust the mainstream

2:59

media a fair deal 88% of Republicans say

3:03

no and only about half of Democrats 54%

3:07

say yes so huge political divide here

3:11

and a lot of people think the mainstream

3:13

media in part because of what we've seen

3:16

with Donald Trump's attack on the

3:17

mainstream media since 2016 many cases

3:20

rightfully so the media's come after him

3:22

like crazy uh because honestly anything

3:24

having to do with Trump gets a whole lot

3:26

of clicks and attention whether it's

3:27

true or not and so Donald Trump is now

3:31

uh freaking out over this particular

3:33

bill because he actually wants to go

3:35

after the people that in his mind did

3:38

him wrong listen to this truth social

3:40

post I don't know about you but I'm not

3:43

going to forgive over eight years of

3:46

Russia hoaxes spying by ex-presidents

3:50

two fake impeachments a lab created

3:53

pandemic forced lockdowns forced

3:56

vaccines law fair election fraud police

3:59

political prisoners Ashley babbit a

4:02

weaponized two-tier justice system open

4:05

borders a war on oil continuously

4:08

funding proxy wars and censorship not in

4:11

a million years your judgment day is

4:13

coming this is a pretty big threat and

4:16

obviously not all of that has to do with

4:18

media Independence but Donald Trump has

4:20

made it clear by also posting on Truth

4:23

quote Republicans must kill this bill

4:26

and so let's analyze for a moment sort

4:28

of the pros and cons of this bill uh a

4:32

few things to note before that there are

4:34

now memes circulating that Elon Musk

4:37

might end up buying

4:39

MSNBC I I never put anything past these

4:42

things from actually happening anymore

4:44

because it seems like the most ironic

4:45

things just keep happening over and over

4:47

again but anyway Elon Musk potentially

4:50

buying MSNBC and then kicking out some

4:53

of the hosts that they don't like and

4:55

replacing them potentially with Joe

4:56

Rogan maybe giving Joe Ro Rogan a prime

5:00

time slot on MSNBC honestly be kind of

5:02

cool Donald Trump has also some

5:05

additional background here has also

5:06

talked about weaponizing the Federal

5:08

Communications Commission and

5:09

potentially revoking media licenses from

5:12

companies like CBS NBC ABC and even Fox

5:16

Pro the financial times so there's a lot

5:19

here so let's look at sort of pros and

5:21

cons of this this press act for a moment

5:23

first of all 49 states already have laws

5:26

protecting or shielding journalists for

5:28

things like this

5:30

the problem is they don't apply

5:31

uniformly across all the states and they

5:33

don't protect you from federal subpoenas

5:35

from like the Department of Justice or

5:37

the FBI which some believe would be bad

5:40

because it would give the federal

5:41

government the power to basically spy on

5:44

journalists or subena records or

5:47

potentially I mean practically speaking

5:49

Donald Trump being like yo find out who

5:53

leaked this and then sort of getting to

5:55

the bottom of it using the courts as

5:57

sort of his tool if you will that would

5:59

be possible if you kill the Press act or

6:02

if it doesn't pass for whatever reason I

6:04

suspect it will pass you would need it

6:06

to happen during the lame duck session

6:08

here so Democrats need to pass it they

6:11

have the votes to do it and then Biden

6:13

would need to sign it Republicans

6:15

already gave up their opportunity to say

6:16

no on it uh that's because the house

6:19

already passed it now we'll see it's

6:21

possible that if the Senate makes any

6:22

changes to it it could get pushed back

6:24

to the house for approval for Amendment

6:26

approvals and then they could just sit

6:28

on it and sandbag because as soon as

6:30

Trump tells the house or the Senate to

6:32

do a certain thing they kind of seem to

6:35

do it because they also want to get

6:36

reelected and they realize the power of

6:38

supporting Trump and how bad of an idea

6:41

it is not to support Trump anyway uh

6:44

consider for a moment like out of I

6:45

think it was the 10 uh reps who voted to

6:48

impeach Donald Trump I think eight or

6:51

nine of them at least eight of them have

6:54

lost their job since then so there's

6:56

huge power in in having Trump on side if

7:00

you're a republican uh anyway so uh the

7:03

issue again is that the Press act would

7:06

basically extend these state laws to all

7:08

states but then it would also give you

7:10

protection against Federal subpoenas doj

7:13

subpoenas FBI subpoenas uh it's

7:15

basically considered a shield against

7:17

government overreach or the government

7:18

from spying on a journalist uh but there

7:21

are some critics to this and and this is

7:23

where some of Donald Trump's povs come

7:25

from as well now I want to touch on that

7:27

but I quickly want to apologize uh

7:29

yesterday on the roboh Haack website we

7:32

still have this problem at the moment we

7:34

had a little oopsy doopsy uh where

7:36

basically DocuSign locked our account

7:39

because too many people signed up or

7:41

were trying to sign up for roboh Haack

7:44

uh and it broke our account so we're

7:47

we're working on fixing that if you want

7:50

you could email us at uh invest at roboh

7:55

hack. and we will gladly send you the

7:58

corrected link just if you can let us

8:00

know if you're looking for a link for a

8:02

single signer dual signer uh or entity

8:06

signer but I just personally wanted to

8:09

apologize for that uh I hope to have

8:11

these links fixed today you could see

8:14

those on screen here you can even toggle

8:16

dark mode which I think is kind of cool

8:17

but anyway what is Robo Haack you can

8:19

see it here it's the Venture Capital

8:21

these buttons are broken right now sorry

8:23

about that we're getting them fixed with

8:25

DocuSign it's just docy sign's customer

8:26

service isn't that great I apologize

8:29

oliz for that I just anyway I wanted to

8:31

acknowledge this so yes email us uh the

8:34

emails right there invest roboh hack.

8:37

ask you know hey I need the correct link

8:39

for entity individual or couple and

8:41

we'll get that uh we'll get that over to

8:43

you anyway thank you for your faith but

8:46

also sorry so now let's keep going back

8:49

to what Donald Trump's talking about so

8:51

why is Donald Trump freaking out about

8:53

wanting this dead uh well mostly because

8:56

a lot of people think he's going to use

8:59

this is an opportunity to to go after

9:02

his journalists or the journalist

9:04

enemies that he has and people who say

9:06

bad things about the Trump organization

9:08

or otherwise however if you to go to

9:10

more of a sort of Centrist approach on

9:12

this as to why it could be bad to have

9:14

these protections uh the protections

9:17

would potentially allow journalists who

9:19

have an agenda to conceal the identity

9:22

of people who are lying or defaming

9:25

companies or providing false information

9:27

misinformation or disinformation see

9:30

theoretically if somebody works for

9:31

let's say the Trump organization and

9:33

then they fabricate on a letterhead you

9:35

know an invoice that's like you know um

9:38

Donald Trump's hookers you know 69

9:42

hookers for Donald Trump and it's on the

9:44

Trump letterhead the person works for uh

9:46

Trump or whatever and then they send

9:48

that to the New York Times the New York

9:49

Times is like oh well that person

9:51

actually works there and we're talking

9:53

to them face to face okay this seems

9:55

credible this seems legitimate they're a

9:56

bookkeeper for Trump or whatever oh man

9:59

and then when they write the story it

10:00

turns into you know uh per documents

10:04

reviewed by the New York Times uh

10:07

provided by uh you know someone within

10:09

the organization who spoke to us on a

10:11

condition of anonymity for fear of

10:13

Retribution against Donald Trump uh

10:15

provided these statements which which we

10:17

verified as credible given that the

10:18

person works there you know something

10:20

like that right so so then they write

10:22

the whole story about it now obviously

10:24

there's I mean you would hope there's

10:25

there's some more due diligence than

10:27

that because again it could just be all

10:28

be fabricated you know what if the

10:29

person has a vendetta against Trump but

10:31

then again if a paper has a vendetta

10:34

against Trump they might run with it

10:35

anyway because they have a personal

10:37

Vendetta so so now the person with the

10:39

disinfo is shielded and the paper is

10:43

shielded from liability so you

10:45

potentially have this collusion between

10:47

a disinfo Insider and a media Outlet who

10:51

both have an agenda of being anti- a

10:53

particular candidate and then they could

10:55

shape narratives the way they want and

10:57

then they're legally protected from

10:59

defamation lawsuits in such a case now

11:02

that's an example of the abuse which

11:04

definitely calls into you know question

11:06

the Integrity of of you know our media

11:09

system now on the flip side you would

11:12

hope that an honest media I know I'm

11:15

saying those words an honest media would

11:18

not do that and wouldn't air stories

11:20

like that or wouldn't have bias uh you

11:23

would hope and then if let's say Trump

11:26

sued them for disinfo that they would

11:28

still be able operate because they're

11:30

not getting sued for a billion dollars

11:31

because they're just trying to do their

11:33

best and provide you know information

11:35

and perspective for people to review and

11:37

then you know thanks to journalistic

11:38

protections they would then be able to

11:40

limit their time in court and spend more

11:43

time in journalism the problem is really

11:46

over the last 10 years and I experienced

11:48

this myself as well every single media

11:50

outlet has massive biases uh some

11:54

substantially less uh some substantially

11:56

more like for example I consider uh The

12:00

Economist pretty freaking left leaning

12:03

but I also consider their facts to be

12:06

very high uh then I look at something

12:08

like uh the Associated Press and I

12:10

consider them mostly neutral and also

12:13

highly factual although I know that

12:15

there could be oopsy dupsies and then I

12:17

look at like the LA Times especially

12:19

their editorial board and I think of you

12:22

know what they did to me during the

12:23

campaign uh and I think of them as the

12:25

biggest scum Li lying scumbags ever you

12:28

know the same could be said about uh the

12:31

New York Times that wrote about me or

12:34

certain Sacramento papers the Ventura

12:36

County a lot of these were very aligned

12:38

with Gavin nusum uh and I'm like wow you

12:41

you don't want to air critical

12:43

commentary of your Governor because

12:45

you're worried about getting kicked out

12:46

of the governor Circle which is also an

12:49

interesting bias because then it goes in

12:50

the opposite direction right somebody

12:52

who wants to compete against an existing

12:54

power like gome can't because if

12:58

somebody fa covers a competitor then

13:01

what happens is that Governor goes

13:03

you're not invited to my press

13:05

conference anymore VC star whereas oh

13:08

you bagged on my competitor here you

13:10

come front row you know like that's the

13:12

kind of rigging that goes on all of the

13:14

time uh and I've also seen straight up

13:17

lying from companies like CNN where

13:19

they're like you know there are no

13:21

competitors against gome and I'm like

13:23

bro I was you know up in the polls got

13:26

like a million votes one San Francisco

13:28

what is this so there's also blatant

13:31

lying that happens in media so you know

13:33

my faith in media has has collapsed

13:36

though I I think it's uh um you know I

13:39

still try my best to review to find fact

13:42

and then corroborate as much as I can

13:43

but I tell you it's gotten harder and

13:45

and frankly it's gotten exhausting so

13:47

anyway uh this gives you a little bit of

13:48

an idea of what's going on with Donald

13:50

Trump again apologies on the roboh hack.

13:53

a website we're going to hopefully get

13:54

that fixed within you know today I am

13:57

out on vacation with the so so good luck

14:00

with um uh you know

14:03

markets I'm kidding but it's it's

14:05

beautiful right now it's it's uh we're

14:07

uh in a in a snowy biome and uh follow

14:10

me on Instagram I'll share some videos

14:12

that'll be at uh real meet Kevin on in

14:14

sorry at me Kevin on Instagram or real

14:17

me Kevin on X thank you so much for

14:19

being here folks we'll see you in the

14:20

next one goodbye good luck
