imagine for a moment that growing up the

only movies you ever saw were horror

movies you had no idea that any other

type of movie even existed so now as an

adult when you come across a horror

movie there's some reassurance in the

familiarity of that this is your only

template for how things are supposed to

go and it's much the same in

relationships we seek The Familiar so if

you only have experience of feeling

unsafe growing up why would you expect

anything different as an ad adult so

what may have looked to others like a

poor choice from your perspective maybe

didn't feel like a choice at all
