Absolutely RIDICULOUS *ASSAULT* on Elon Musk | New York Times

Elon Musk is getting beat up in you

guessed it the New York Times again

let's try to understand what they could

possibly be complaining about this time

Elon Musk has crossed a line all right

for the study of anti-Semitism the

author of taking America back a

conservative movement and the far right

oh dear Elon Musk one of the world's

richest men who is now most famous for

running Twitter

has a new excuse for the company shaky

performance since he bought it last year

the problem according to musk is the

Jews

that's not what busk said at all in case

you don't know I'm gonna give you like a

really high level overview there's

basically this Anti-Defamation League

that's been trying to censor uh Twitter

and Lobby for censorship on Twitter for

a very long period of time Elon Musk is

threatening to sue them Elon Musk claims

that because of them advertising revenue

is down 60 because they put together

fallacious studies that say hate on on

Twitter is increasing ever since Elon

Musk has bought it Elon Musk obviously

disputes that Twitter suggests that

statistically false and then of course

the ADL is like no it's not here's our

research and you basically you have this

like big pissing match going on

based so far on the first paragraph I

have a feeling we know which way this

article is going to go in an outburst on

this platform Monday Mr Mr musk claimed

without presenting any evidence that ad

revenue on Twitter is down 60 primarily

due to pressure on advertisers by the

ADL which he said has been trying to

kill this platform by falsely accusing

it and me of being anti-semitic okay

look

saying hey I'm being falsely accused of

being anti-jew and therefore ad revenues

are down is very different from saying

ad revenues are down because of quote

the Jews this is not a way to write a at

all an article that is supposed to

convey any unbiased or fairness at all

it's basically the hit piece so let's

see what it is while the website has

long had a reputation as a cesspool for

lies hate speech and a significant

Neo-Nazi user base you know I would be

very curious to know where this person's

citation is on this now don't get me

wrong Twitter's not perfect the stuff

that usually does well on Twitter in

terms of views does need extra context

but that's social media in general and

ultimately it's on the users to dive

deeper Beyond headlines right and to

understand perspective

but this is a pretty rough argument here

to say Twitter's just a cesspool for

lies hate speech and new Neo-Nazi

useries personally I go on Twitter every

single day I don't and this is anecdotal

obviously but I don't see hate speech I

mean unless you go in the comments and

people are like Kevin you have a very

punchable face but quite frankly that

might be true so I don't know if that's

necessarily hate speech but anyway uh I

don't we certainly wouldn't call it a

cesspool for lies or Nazi user base but

okay

under Jack Dorsey Twitter had begun

taking steps to ban the most provocative

and openly racist and anti-semitic users

2018 report by the ADL noted that two

point or 4.2 million anti-semitic tweets

had been shared or re-shared on the

platform in the previous year before

Twitter's ban on extremist accounts took

effect musk largely reversed these

policies under the ages of free speech

thanks to that reinstatement of

extremist accounts and a new algorithm

which prioritizes posts for verified

users who've forked over eight dollars a

month Twitter now functions as a

bullhorn for the most toxic elements of

the white nationalist right now I think

this is a little rough as well because

you have to keep in mind that Elon is uh

elon's belief is that hey free speech

like it is not the goal or the duty of a

platform to determine what speech should

be allowed and not allowed that's on you

ultimately the user if you don't want to

see speech that you don't agree with

there is a block function and if you

interact with that sort of speech less

you see it less

But ultimately it's the job of a

platform to just follow the law and if

the law says hey you can't yell fire in

a crowded theater then then wolf enforce

that law but beyond that it's not a

incumbent upon a platform to determine

what speech should be said and not said

Remember the Supreme Court has famously

said your right to throw a punch ends

where my face begins in other words you

want to go throw punch in the air all

day long you can do that the point where

it becomes a crime is when you're

actually threatening somebody and so I

think these are these are very different

important distinction distinctions and

sort of reiterate why Elon Musk is suing

uh the California attorney general now

on uh the premise of fighting and

preventing California from requiring

Twitter from imposing definitions on

what hate speech is now I think elon's

lawsuit could have been structured

better I think there's a fundamental

weakness in elon's lawsuit specific

quickly because there's a very clear

line that suggests simply tell us what

your policies are on content moderation

if any which you could then simply just

say we don't have one or it's limited to

the extent of the law which means I

think their lawsuit is somewhat weak but

stepping back for a moment the point is

Twitter is actively fighting to get more

clarity in courts on free speech and

that's something to be uh applauded uh

okay great Mr musk also blamed a

collapse in the company's value on

estimates placed on a company's worth

roughly one-third of the 44 billion must

paid for it we all know he overpaid for

it that's the old news and now he's

considering legal action against the ADL

Mr musk insists that his claims are not

anti-semitic and that he Harbors no

animus towards Jews why does this author

say that the Jews you know I grew up my

stepmother was Jewish almost all my

dad's girlfriends were Jewish uh some of

my the best employees that I've had in

the past during my campaign I think you

know what's crazy is uh during my

campaign

we had so many uh I think I think the

majority of our campaign workers were

Jewish uh I want to say we had somewhere

around what 13 and out of that I think

like 60 were Jewish I think Jewish

people obviously the stereotypes they're

good with money but I think very smart

people I had nothing bad to say but so I

try to look at this and I'm not Jewish

but I try to look at it you know Barbara

Corcoran Kevin O'Leary I think even

Damon Johnson I think they're all Jewish

I grew up in South Florida uh there's a

massive concentration of Jewish people

in uh in New York in Florida especially

South Florida oh my gosh you can't go to

a restaurant without knocking into a

Jewish person but anyway uh you you know

I don't my point of this is saying like

I've never seen and I watch Elon a lot

you know I and I have my criticism to be

long but I've never seen Elon b

anti-jewish or actually anti-any race or

religion I I haven't seen that so I I

think this is very weird uh like a very

very biased uh piece here but again I'm

still going to read it because I like to

see what their argument is and so far

their argument's very weak there's a

long history of far-right groups

attacking the ADL for its alleged smears

okay we're going into like the history

of the ADL being attacked well of course

the ADL is going to be attacked uh

because if the ADL remember any kind of

you know organization is trying to drum

up uh attacks to gain donations and in

doing so they're going to get

counter-attacked but so far this

anti-semitic stuff I just don't see this

uh okay let's see here in 2012

Greenblatt uh president of the ADL

praised uh Elon Musk in comments

greenbot called Mr musk an amazing

entrepreneur yeah he's the Henry Ford of

our time

a creative genius between Ford Motor

Company

the same way musk Fanboys on Twitter

gush about how the company SpaceX will

lead to humanity will lead Humanity to a

cosmic future well at least they're

trying Mr Ford was seeing seen as an

apostle for modernity Joseph Stalin

sought out experts from the Ford Motor

Company to help industrialize the Soviet

Union

uh Huxley dated his calendar and the

dystopian novel Brave New World after

Ford

uh Mr Ford America's great Infamous

antisense are you serious

this author is literally trying to

compare

Elon Musk to Ford as an industrialist

and because Solon liked Ford and Huxley

compared Ford to basically or or you

know other someone else here compared

him to an anti-semite therefore musk

must be an anti-semite so they're

literally saying like let's let's think

about this line of logic for a moment of

how disgusting this line of logic is

from of it okay you ready for this

you are therefore concluding oh crap

in the New York Times like this is just
