I'm a psychologist and here's something
your brain does that will destroy your
day if you don't spot it in therapy I
like to call it the Domino mindset let
me explain now every day you stack up
lots of these small actions and many of
those are things you can feel good about
for example you meet that deadline and
you remember your friend's birthday but
then one small thing goes wrong and in
your mind this happens
you instantly write off the whole day so
from this one small event you start to
tell yourself that you've achieved
nothing now I like to call this the
Domino mindset but it's a cognitive bias
also known as over generalizing and it's
something we all do but we tend to do
more of it when we're stressed or low in
mood but while you can't stop it from
happening
you can take the power out of it simply
by noticing those thoughts and labeling
them for what they are
biased
