AutoShortsAI: $0 → $93K MRR Micro-SaaS Strategy (Sharing EVERYTHING)

Hey, so in this case study, I'm going to
break down exactly how a solo founder
created AutoShorts AI, which is a
faceless AI video generator SAS and
scaled it to over $93,000 in monthly
reoccurring revenue in less than 12
months. I will break down the exact
advertising strategies he used to scale
from 0 to 93K MR. I will also break down
the sales page conversion rate
optimization hacks you can steal to
double your conversion right now, as
well as the really clever growth hacks
he used to increase MR retention. and of
course, how you can copy all of this and
implement it into your own business. And
so, a little bit about myself. I've
scaled multiple stores from zero to six
to seven figures. I've also been able to
travel the world and live a pretty cool
life thanks to just online marketing.
And I've also helped other people
implement these same sort of strategies
into their own businesses. And they've
had massive, massive success as well.
And yeah, I want you guys to meet the
founder and that's Eric Smith. He has
created a couple other micro SAS uh
companies before like Niche Scraper and
Copy Genius. and he's grown it to be
pretty successful, but so far uh Auto
Shorts AI has been his biggest success
yet. And he, like I said, he's currently
doing about $93,000 per month with it.
And from that 93K, he is more or less
profiting about $68,000 per month. Now,
you can see his breakdown here of all
his expenses. So, as you can see, he has
been very, very successful. And I think
there's a lot of insights and things you
can copy from his strategies. And
there's also a lot of things he's kind
of missing out on that I'm going to show
in this video that if he implements I
think he can very easily scale this to
over you know 200 500k per month. Now if
you still don't know what autoshorts AI
is. basically an AI video generator of
where where he makes like this AI
generated uh kind of snob content
basically of uh where the whole script
video text everything about the video is
basically AI generated and post it
automatically on the user's uh social
media channels right it can be stories
it can be horror stories Reddit videos
uh storytime videos uh history videos
and so on so forth so here's one of the
channels I'll just give you a quick demo
of what one of these types of videos
looks like and yeah just let it play I
don't know if it's too loud for you
guys.
But yeah, as you can see, all the images
are basically AI generated. The text is
AI generated. The editing is AI
generated. Everything about the video is
AI generated. Uh, and yeah, that's
basically the SAS. And a couple notable
things about when he launched it is that
he actually kind of timed it perfectly.
And he was one of the very first to jump
on the faceless video trend. Uh, he
launched it around January 2024. And as
you can see, he just rode the whole way
to the top. And I also think he was one
of the very first to actually provide uh
a tool to do this for you. This used to
be very technical try to make these sort
of videos, but he made it very very
accessible. Now, right now, his current
statistics, he's doing about 350K
visitors per month. His geographic
visitors are very very varied from UK,
India, UK, United States, Philippines,
Pakistan, and all very like pretty
similar percentages. So, it's very very
varied. Uh traffic source wise, uh
majority of the traffic is direct. That
means he has more returning customers
than he has new customers visiting his
store. And like I said, he's at around
$93,000 in MR. But yeah, I think that
about does it for the overview of what
the tool is and its current statistics.
And now I want to talk about the initial
launch. And then I want to show you the
exact growth strategies he used to take
it from like this small project that he
started at and how he was able to take
it to $95,000 in MR and how he's going
to take it beyond that. So like I said,
the initial launch was just on his pro
personal Twitter profile. on January
29th, he launched a beta beta release
access to AutoShorts. Uh from there, he
just kept kind of promoting it. He
posted on Reddits. Uh he posted uh his
own videos organically. He also posted
on product hunt. He made uh threads
showing you know how to make these sorts
of videos and you know giving them
explainers and then you know pitching
basic allergy shorts. And that's how he
was able to go from zero to about 400
users and $270 in MR. And that's also
how he was able to validate the product.
From there, he kept creating more uh
organic pages and kept just posting it
himself. Uh he had a couple successful
pages right here. None of the pages
obviously had some insane crazy views,
but as long as a couple of the videos
got lucky, uh he could promote his link
in the bio as well as in the hashtags uh
where, you know, he has over 5,000
videos posted of just promoting auto
shores, right? And of course, the added
bonus was that, you know, compared to
other tools on the market, his videos
did actually perform and get views. But
then like I said, obviously this is uh
the organic strategy is pretty good to
get started with to validate the
product. But as you can see here, he
kind of he kicked it in pretty high gear
and and he was able to scale it really
really fast. And he was able to do that
with a strategy called paid advertising.
And with paid advertising, he was able
to go very very quickly from basically
zero to 2,000, then 3,000, and then
4,000 in just a few weeks. And his paid
advertising strategy was uh running
basically nurture, retarget, and capture
campaigns, which I will break down in a
moment. Uh but yeah, he just kept
scaling it then to 5,000, 6,000, then
12, and 20. And through the whole
process, like I said, he's still running
just the basic uh NRC campaigns with
around $14 per cost per purchase. And
then you just keep scaling it
31,471,75 because the magic of ads is
that once you have something that's
working, all you have to do is just
increase the budget and just make more
money basically, right? Uh he keeps
scaling it. Obviously, the more he
scales, the higher his CPA becomes. And
around this point, he was already
reaching about $20 CPA, but it's fine
because like his lifetime value is about
six times that at around I think $120.
So either way, he's aptly printing it.
And from there, he just like I said,
keeps increasing the budget, keeps
scaling it. 78,000 $83,000 93,000, which
leads us to today where he's sitting
around 93,000 per month with a CPA of
$27. He's getting about 31 purchases per
day. His lifetime value is $120 with a
rorowes of 4.2, 2, which basically means
that for every dollar he puts into
Facebook ads, uh, it gives him back
$4.2. I know I went through that pretty
quick. So, now I actually want to break
down exactly what his strategy is and
how he's able to do this and, uh, how
how you can implement and copy the same
strategy into your own business. And so,
like I said, he is running a nurture,
retarget, and capture campaigns, which
when he started still on a low budget,
he was getting about $14 cost per
purchase. Then, obviously, as he
increase the budgets, uh, the pool of
available people who, you know, want to
purchase uh, diminishes. So, the cost
per purchase increases and as such it
just started to raise to around $20 and
then it went to uh $27 and then as you
keep scaling it's going to keep
increasing, right? But either way, he's
doing fine because his lifetime value is
very very high. But the main problem, at
least I'm seeing with this ad account is
the fact that I mean over a year running
and having these incredible statistics,
he's only really spending $16,000 per
