in today's video I'm going to show you
how to crochet this adorable heart
coaster for Valentine's Day I use two
colors of yarn and an H hook you can use
whatever yarn and hook you like but
please make sure that if you're going to
be putting hot items on the coaster
you'll want to use a cotton yarn or
similar material so that it does not
melt grab your crochet hook and some
yarn and let's have some fun crocheting
I start this project with a magic ring I
prefer to use the double ring method
because it's a much sturdier option if
you're unfamiliar with how to do it
please check my description box below
and you'll find a link to a complete
video tutorial on how to do the double
ring we start round one by chaining
three and we do four trouble crochet
stitches to do the trouble crochet
you're going to yarn over twice insert
your hook into the
ring yarn over and pull up a loop yarn
over pull through two loops on your hook
yarn over pull through two more loops on
your hook and yarn over and pull through
the last two loops on your hook you'll
repeat that three more times so you'll
have a total of four triple crochet
stitches
we do two double crochets so yarn over
insert your hook into the ring yarn over
pull up a loop yarn over pull through
two loops and then yarn over and pull
through the last two loops on your hook
you'll do that one more time and now we
do a trouble crochet stitch this will be
the center point at the bottom bottom of
our heart we repeat exactly what we just
did but in reverse order to do the other
side of the heart so we start with two
double crochet
stitches followed by four trouble
crochet
stitches
and to complete the round we chain two
and slip stitch into the magic ring
you'll close the magic ring and put a
stitch marker into that last slip stitch
using a stitch marker is very important
because at the center point of the top
of our heart it gets really crowded when
we use slip stitches and it can be very
hard to tell if it's a stitch or not and
this is where most people mess up on
their Stitch count so please make sure
that you use a stitch marker at the
center point slip
stitch this would be a good time to sew
in your tail so that it doesn't get in
your way for the rest of the rounds to
start round two we want a single crochet
into the second and third chains from
the previous round this is the top of
the first treble crochet from the
previous round and here are the two
chain stitches that we want to work our
single crochets
into
we do two half double crochets in the
next Stitch which is the first trible
crochet from the previous
round do two double crochets in each of
the next four
stitches
one double crochet in the next
Stitch now we've reached the center
Stitch at the bottom of our heart so we
put a double crochet a treble crochet
and another double crochet into that
same
Stitch
we repeat that Stitch sequence that we
just did on this side of the heart but
in reverse order so you start with a
double
crochet followed by two double crochets
in each of the next four
stitches
two half double crochet in the next
Stitch
we complete round two by doing a single
crochet in the last two chains from the
previous
round
and then we slip stitch to the center
point of the previous round where we
have the stitch
marker on a hook size just to get into
that last slip stitch because it does
get a little tight
put your stitch marker in the slip
stitch you just made that completes
round
two if you're enjoying this video please
let YouTube know by giving it a thumbs
up and subscribing to my channel
we start round three by putting a slip
stitch in the first single crochet from
the previous round followed by a single
crochet two half double crochets in the
next two
stitches
two double crochet in the next four
stitches
double crochet in the next six
stitches
we've reached the center point at the
bottom of our
heart so we put a double crochet treble
crochet
double crochet all in the next
Stitch we repeat that Stitch sequence on
this side of the heart but in reverse
order so we start by putting a double
crochet in the next six
stitches
two double crochet in the next four
stitches
two half double crochet in the next two
stitches single
crochet and to finish this round we slip
stitch in the last single crochet of the
previous
round this completes round
three you'll fasten off the first color
if you're using two colors and you'll
sew that tail in start round four at the
bottom point of the
heart if you're using a second color
you're going to join that color and do
three single crochet in that trouble
crochet at the bottom point of the heart
I like to go in between the top Loops of
that Stitch and pull the yarn
up I then go under both Loops of that
Stitch yarn over pull up a loop yarn
over and pull through two loops and
that's your first standing single
crochet you'll do two more single
crochet in the same Stitch
I like to work over my ends to get rid
of them as quickly as possible if you
prefer you can always sew them in at the
end single crochet in the next 11
stitches
two single crochets in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next
Stitch two single crochets in the
following Stitch we'll repeat that two
more times so single crochet in the next
Stitch two single crochet in the next
Stitch
single crochet in the next Stitch two
single crochet in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next two
stitches
slip stitch in the next
Stitch slip stitch to the center point
of the previous round where we placed
our stitch
marker
slip stitch in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next two
stitches
two single crochet in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next
Stitch two single crochet in the next
Stitch we'll repeat that two more
times
single crochet in the next
Stitch two single crochet in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next Stitch
two single crochet in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next 11
stitches
this completes round four we do not do a
join we go right into the next round
we start round five by putting a single
crochet in the first Stitch of the
previous round the next Stitch is the
center point of the bottom of our heart
so we're going to put two half double
crochets in that same
Stitch single crochet in the next
Stitch slip stitch in the next
Stitch we're going to repeat that
pattern five more times single crochet
in the next Stitch two half double
crochets in the next
Stitch single crochet in the next Stitch
slip stitch in the next
Stitch
put a slip stitch in the last Stitch
before the stitch
marker slip stitch in the center point
of our heart where the stitch marker
is slip stitch in the next
Stitch
single crochet in the next
Stitch two half double crochet in the
next
Stitch single crochet in the next Stitch
slip stitch in the next Stitch you'll
repeat that five more
times continue with that and I will meet
you at the end of the
round
the four stitches left so we do our last
scallop with a single crochet in the
next Stitch two half double crochet in
the next
Stitch single crochet in the next
Stitch and slip stitch in the last
Stitch you shouldn't have any stitches
left if you do I suggest starting over
and making sure you use a stitch marker
so that your stitches are in the right
place and you have the right Stitch
count flip Stitch to join the round or
you can do an invisible finish I think
they turned out adorable and you don't
have to just wait until Valentine's Day
to put them
out I made a couple of different color
combinations you can use colors that fit
in with your decor and
style these would also make a nice gift
I'll have a link for my rivalry shop in
the description box below where you can
find the written pattern for this
coaster I do have other projects coming
up this week including my all-time
favorite craft it is super adorable and
if you love all things cute you're going
to want to check it out so don't forget
to subscribe to my channel and hit that
notification Bell so that you don't miss
out on my upcoming videos if you want a
thicker coaster you can put two of these
wrong sides together line up the
stitches and either do a slip stitch all
the way around or you can do a single
crochet all the way
around let me know in the comments if
you decorate for Valentine's Day and if
you'll be making one of these hard
coasters I hope you enjoy this project
and I'll see you in my next
video
