FULL TRANSCRIPT

0:00

hey everyone me Kevin here the

0:01

cybertruck has officially been revealed

0:03

in this video where we are going to go

0:05

through not only the release details of

0:08

the cybertruck but we are going to go

0:10

through the price target for TSLA and

0:14

we'll do that for both the short and the

0:17

long term especially Post cybertruck

0:20

Release the big question a lot of folks

0:23

have is does the Cyber truck actually

0:25

change anything in terms of the

0:28

potential stock price for Tesla we'll

0:31

address that but first let's get into

0:33

what Tesla and Elon just announced the

0:36

Cyber Tru we already knew that was

0:37

coming but did you know that Tesla's

0:40

cars are labeled and in order now on

0:44

their website as sexy look at that you

0:47

have the model S 3 X and Y the three is

0:53

obviously used because Ford has the

0:56

model e or mock e version and the

1:00

trademark on that a lot of people

1:02

speculate that we might actually end up

1:04

getting sexy cars from Tesla as you can

1:06

see we just released the uh C of that uh

1:10

some argue that the Cyber quad and maybe

1:12

in the future a real version of an ATV

1:15

could come out maybe eventually we'll

1:18

actually get the Roadster uh along with

1:20

of course the semit TRU which the

1:23

semi-truck has already started

1:25

deliveries so technically all we're

1:27

missing here is that ATV and the

1:30

Roadster and the whole product lineup of

1:32

sexy cars is in which would be pretty

1:36

cool now here's the pricing the pricing

1:39

is estimated for the top-of-the-line

1:41

model to be

1:43

$99,000 which is a bit to chew off but

1:46

what do you get for

1:48

$999,000 well you get delivery in 2024

1:51

hopefully 320 mile range 2.6 second 0 to

1:55

60 with 845 horsepower now we're going

1:59

to compare that to the Ford Raptor in

2:00

just a moment so buckle up for that one

2:03

thing that is fascinating that a lot of

2:04

people are talking about is actually

2:07

right here it is this

2:10

440 mile potential range you could have

2:13

with an optional range extender now

2:16

you'll notice that's about 1/3 more than

2:18

the range of the existing battery what's

2:20

weird about that is that existing

2:22

battery that's going to bring this to

2:23

somewhere around 320 Mi probably weighs

2:26

just to keep math simple at least 1,000

2:29

lb

2:30

usually the 70 KW lithium iron phosphate

2:34

battery from Tesla weighs 1,000 lb so

2:37

let's go with 1,000 to make this simple

2:40

if you're going to get an extra

2:42

25% of range whether you charge it at

2:45

the front end or at the back end

2:47

obviously be faster if you do at the

2:49

front but it's the same power set you're

2:51

still looking at about 1/4 of more

2:54

battery but if it's 1,000 lb that means

2:57

you're going to have to lift 250 lb into

3:00

the bed of this truck which isn't

3:02

unreasonable we could do it something

3:04

with maybe two or four handles so a

3:06

couple people can do it or a strong guy

3:08

can do it that's great maybe even a

3:11

strong woman can do it I don't know but

3:13

the point is it seems like it would be a

3:15

little cumbersome to take a 250lb object

3:18

in and out so I wonder how easy they're

3:20

going to make it to be able to take it

3:22

out and put it back in some people are

3:24

speculating that you just throw it into

3:25

the bed basically well it would click

3:27

into the bed and there would be some

3:28

kind of port for you to plug it into and

3:31

that's how you would get this range

3:32

extension now aside from the

3:34

practicality of how to get this battery

3:35

in and out because I expect it to be

3:37

heavy it is kind of nice that for that

3:39

99% of the time you're not actually

3:42

needing all of that extra range you

3:44

could just remove the unit I do suspect

3:46

that range extender unit will be very

3:48

useful as well for the tow capability of

3:52

this vehicle given that even though it

3:54

can tow we suspect that electric

3:57

vehicles are going to be burning a

3:59

little little bit more electricity in

4:01

tow mode given that you're towing

4:03

substantially more weight I wouldn't be

4:05

surprised to see the towing capability

4:07

of the car being closer to about 200

4:09

miles which honestly still pretty good

4:11

if you're taking a boat or wave runners

4:13

or otherwise as you can see they rate

4:15

this as being able to tow 11,000 lb

4:19

seating five got rid of that bench seat

4:21

in the front the electric uh monitor

4:23

display monitor in the center didn't

4:25

really cooperate with airbags and we got

4:27

20in wheels on this one uh this is the

4:30

most expensive top-of-the line unit

4:32

which you could pre-order now for

4:33

$250 you've got the

4:35

$79,000 vehicle right here what you're

4:38

doing is you're actually getting

4:39

slightly more range in the all all-wheel

4:42

drive version here but you're not

4:43

getting the power you're going from Two

4:46

and a halfish with roll out subtracted

4:48

so that's probably more like which is

4:50

the same thing the model X plaid has

4:52

roughly this is 2.6 the model X sorry is

4:56

2.5 both of them with roll out

4:58

subtracted also the model S pla at 1.9

5:01

is roll out subtracted so probably add

5:03

about .2 seconds there uh that means the

5:06

cybertruck the most expensive versions

5:09

probably putting you at about 2.8 is for

5:12

a 0 to 60 whereas this version is 4.1

5:16

seconds which is about $20,000 less so

5:19

just to corroborate there that's 2.6 on

5:22

the cybertruck with the little as risk

5:24

for with roll out subtracted and then

5:26

over here at 4.1 we do not have the

5:30

little as risk for roll out subtracted

5:33

do keep in mind this version gets almost

5:36

500 mil of range with the range extender

5:40

very impressive 340 mile range otherwise

5:43

uh you can also notice it is more than

5:46

6,000 which is great for those business

5:48

owners looking for some accelerate

5:50

accelerated depreciation uh same thing

5:52

for pretty much all the vergence here uh

5:54

and the way that accelerated

5:55

depreciation works by the way is really

5:57

when you have a vehicle that's over

5:58

6,000 pounds if it can carry passengers

6:02

and of course check with your CPA about

6:03

this isn't tax advice for you and these

6:05

rules change all the time they phase out

6:07

and they bring them back it's crazy so

6:09

it changes all the time but uh the 179

6:11

deduction was that if a vehicle is more

6:13

than 6,000 pounds used for business you

6:15

could accelerate depreciation on this if

6:18

it's like a sprinter van with just cargo

6:20

behind you you could literally write off

6:23

100% of the car but if it has the

6:25

capability of seating passengers behind

6:27

you you're usually limited to a bone

6:29

bonus depreciation of an extra $25,000

6:32

up front and then straight line on the

6:34

rest which isn't bad because I mean if

6:36

you think about it if you buy a $100,000

6:38

car uh and then you depreciate the rest

6:41

of the car over just to make math easy s

6:43

and a half years you're depreciating 10K

6:45

per year plus 25k up front which means

6:48

your first year deduction would be about

6:50

35k on it that's not bad and that's some

6:54

really quick math obviously talk to your

6:56

CPA about that but that's how the 179

6:58

deduction would work in case you're

6:59

wondering about them as far as the

7:01

lowest entry price you're looking at

7:03

about $60,900 about $11,000 more than I

7:06

had guessed for this type of vehicle the

7:09

entry level vehicle this is your 250

7:11

mile range vehicle 6 and 1 12 seconds 0

7:14

to 60 this is the rear wheeel drive

7:18

model we actually don't even have the

7:19

weight spec on this one probably because

7:21

they're not even focusing on

7:23

manufacturing this vehicle uh at this

7:25

point uh so this one will be a while

7:27

which makes sense because as as a

7:30

company gets to scale in vehicle

7:33

production uh remember you have sort of

7:35

this slope of scale in E economics uh

7:39

where the cost is extremely expensive to

7:41

make your first car it's less expensive

7:43

to make your 100th car it's less

7:46

expensive to make your thousandth car

7:48

than between a, and maybe 500,000 it's

7:51

roughly the same cost but then you have

7:52

to get a new facility and it starts

7:54

getting expensive again that's just an

7:56

example of economies of scale super

7:58

super big basic explanation here a point

8:01

is though it would make sense that if

8:02

you're going to have a lot of costs

8:04

upfront to start by delivering the most

8:06

expensive vehicle especially since then

8:08

it'll be exclusive and the people who

8:10

are paying $100,000 will get the

8:12

eyeballs of having this car I think one

8:14

of the big benefits of this car is going

8:16

to be marketing I think this is going to

8:18

be a marketing tool for electricians

8:21

real estate agents Plumbers Local

8:24

business owners sign companies rap

8:26

companies people are going to do some

8:28

pretty cool things with this because it

8:29

is a head turner a lot of people think

8:31

this car is ugly a lot of people

8:33

absolutely love it doesn't matter though

8:35

everybody's looking at it Tesla's also

8:37

expecting to introduce some accessories

8:39

although they regularly say they'll do

8:40

these accessories and they kind of back

8:42

burner those so I wouldn't hold my

8:43

breath for like a light bar that you

8:45

could install on top that's extra this

8:47

camper tent that you can use extra

8:49

obviously uh one thing that does concern

8:52

me about the camper is I don't actually

8:54

think you can open that back window

8:57

which means you're probably not going to

8:58

be sleeping in that bed of the truck

9:00

with the tent using the heating of the

9:03

inside of your car because I I I don't

9:04

think there's a way to connect the two I

9:06

could be wrong if this window opens it'

9:08

be great because then you could seal up

9:09

your tent turn on the heater inside the

9:11

car and heat up your tent as well not

9:13

convinced that will actually be

9:15

functional and as you can see it's a

9:17

five-seater here uh now uh this this

9:19

sort of spare wheel thing this is very

9:21

Tesla where they don't actually include

9:24

spare tires or Wheels like emergency

9:27

wheels and so uh they're like hey well

9:30

you could just use your bed if you

9:31

really want to the bed is 6x4 which does

9:35

not fit a sheet of dry wall uh you can

9:38

put the bed down but if you put the bed

9:40

down you're obviously going to have to

9:42

tie your load down to make sure it

9:44

doesn't all go slipping off the back so

9:47

it I mean this is pretty standard

9:49

standard to see a 6x4 bed so it's not a

9:51

surprise a lot of people obviously were

9:53

hoping for a full 6 by or 4x8 so that

9:56

way they could put a full sheet of

9:58

drywall or plywood in it yeah then the

10:00

next thing we've got I mean this is

10:02

pretty generic this is relatively

10:03

similar to what you get in the other

10:04

vehicles the video um screens in the

10:07

front and back great audio throughout

10:09

the car the audio is generally very good

10:12

and you don't hear a lot of the car

10:13

noise anyway since it is an electric

10:15

vehicle now one thing that is neat is

10:17

you've got a 240 volt plug here and two

10:20

standard 120 volt plugs this is

10:22

something that Ford's already been doing

10:23

with their pickup trucks and it's really

10:25

just to demonstrate the idea that you

10:26

can you know use your power tools of the

10:29

back of your truck when you're at the

10:30

job side and let's say there's no power

10:32

now we had to touch on this a little bit

10:34

so for home backup it's worth noting

10:36

that an 11.5 Kow battery in your cyber

10:40

Tru is not actually going to be

10:42

functional unless you already have the

10:44

power wall the problem is the power wall

10:47

is like

10:48

$8,400 at the time of this recording so

10:51

if you have the power wall the power

10:53

wall and Tesla makes her own inverters

10:55

now they stopped using solar Edge but uh

10:57

the power wall will convert this energy

11:00

from DC battery energy to something your

11:02

house can actually use so if you don't

11:04

have a power wall which often times

11:06

requires getting a new panel at your

11:08

house you're probably going to have to

11:10

get some additions here including not

11:12

only the wall connector that's okay but

11:14

you also need the Tesla Gateway and then

11:17

potentially some form of backup switch

11:20

uh the backup switch probably not being

11:22

the expensive part I'm guessing the

11:23

Gateway being the more expensive but we

11:25

don't have a specific price on just that

11:27

Standalone yet that equipment as it says

11:30

here will be sold separately so TBD on

11:32

that but I wouldn't expect to just plug

11:35

your car into your house and yeah I got

11:37

a backup battery not so fast that'll

11:39

work if you have the power wall which

11:40

will actually be kind of cool because

11:42

it's almost like having another Power

11:43

wall so I do think that's pretty awesome

11:46

and it's kind of brilliant as a Tesla

11:48

investor because I think wow that is

11:51

going to motivate people to buy the

11:53

power wall and the power wall you know

11:55

there are high margins on these people

11:57

misunderstand that Tesla is also an

11:59

energy company and the amount of money

12:01

you can make on power walls is

12:02

phenomenal uh so this picture though

12:05

little bit misleading because it kind of

12:07

just shows oh look you can power your

12:09

home and it just shows a lady walking up

12:11

to the power uh the wall connector unit

12:14

but it doesn't actually show a power

12:16

wall at this property which yeah

12:19

apparently this is some rigged house uh

12:22

but I mean it looks cool it's like

12:23

cybery and apocalyptic which is what

12:25

elon's going for here uh but you would

12:27

need the power wall or that gateway to

12:30

actually make this function however you

12:31

could charge other vehicles with it

12:33

which is kind of cool because especially

12:35

if you get the extended Range model

12:37

you're going to be that friend everybody

12:38

calls when they run out of electricity

12:40

in their cars although frankly I I don't

12:42

know how often that really happens now

12:44

with how common the supercharging

12:46

network is but it can happen if you want

12:49

to extend the range in your Tesla I

12:51

highly recommend you turn off Sentry

12:52

mode that thing is a battery suck it

12:55

will drain the snot out of your battery

12:57

it's just not worth having on uh like

12:59

I'll I'll have it parked somewhere at

13:01

you know 80 mil it go down to 40

13:03

overnight with Sentry on I turn off

13:05

Sentry it's down to like 78 so it's not

13:09

that important for me I got insurance

13:10

for a reason Tesla insurance for that

13:12

matter uh anyway here's the uh to

13:15

compare the Ford F-150 Raptor this

13:18

vehicle has a a 0 to 60 of 3.6 seconds

13:21

as you can see right here uh to to

13:24

actually get these 702 horsepowers you

13:26

have to buy the extended uh V8 engine

13:30

that's going to start being very

13:32

expensive in fact if you go to the Ford

13:35

website and you add The Supercharged V8

13:38

it's going to cost you

13:40

$31,000 no that's not for the car that

13:44

is a feature that you can add to your

13:46

car that takes you from the V6 to a V8

13:50

yes and then your total cost of this

13:52

Ford Raptor is actually basically

13:56

$110,000 about $110,000 more than the

14:00

Cyber Tru uh so keep in mind this has

14:04

705 horsepowers the uh horsepower the

14:07

most expensive Tesla sitting at 845 for

14:12

10,000 less and a quicker 0 to 60 in

14:15

fact they did a great job showing a uh

14:18

race between a off-the-shelf sort of

14:21

Porsche 911 3.9 second 0 to 60 and uh

14:26

take a look at this clip and notice if

14:27

you see what they did with the Cyber

14:29

truck because it doesn't seem that much

14:32

faster at the finish line but watch what

14:35

is behind

14:56

that's and Tesla stock the most

14:58

important thing thing for this company

14:59

is this right here we've got to get

15:02

inflation prices down or the prices of

15:06

things starting to flatten and ideally

15:08

even Trend down into the scope of maybe

15:10

even deflation that would be fantastic

15:13

for Tesla because not only would it mean

15:15

rates could come down which would bring

15:17

down financing costs for the vehicles

15:18

but it might actually bring back some of

15:20

that delicious margin that Tesla used to

15:23

have in a low interest rate environment

15:25

so the fact that we are seeing a

15:27

year-over-year change of pce personal

15:30

consumption expenditures inflation

15:32

coming down and the fact that if we take

15:34

the last 6 months we can actually see

15:37

that decline has been greater see how

15:39

that blue line is lower than that orange

15:41

line right there that's basically saying

15:42

what's the inflation we've seen over the

15:44

last 6 months and let's look at that

15:45

over a year as opposed to looking

15:48

strictly over a year so you can see

15:49

there's been more in disinflation over

15:51

the last three uh six months that is and

15:54

if you look at over the last 3 months

15:55

you're roughly aligned with the last six

15:58

months the you had a little bit of

15:59

volatility there so here's some of the

16:01

thoughts that I have for what the

16:03

cybertruck could mean at 60,000

16:05

deliveries at $100,000 a piece I'm

16:09

suspecting about a 15% margin at the end

16:12

of 60,000 units produced we're only

16:14

looking at about a 6% boost to the value

16:18

of earnings per share and potentially

16:21

therefore the stock so not really a big

16:24

impact you don't really start seeing a

16:26

big impact from the cybertruck until

16:28

this gets to much more scale which would

16:30

be about

16:31

2026 if we can get to 500,000 cyber

16:34

trucks in 2026 which elon's goal was 250

16:37

by

16:38

2025 maybe the uh end of 2025 250,000 if

16:43

we can actually ramp that to about 500k

16:46

so I'm going more conservative 26 but

16:48

then pricing in some more optimism or or

16:50

for 25 I'm more conservative pricing in

16:52

more optimism for 26 that's where I

16:55

think we could actually see the Cyber

16:57

truck contribute about $2.50 to earnings

17:00

per share for this company on an annual

17:01

basis which would boost EPS by about 32%

17:05

so some real potential upside if this

17:08

vehicle doesn't flop and that's where we

17:11

have some short-term risks I suspect

17:13

short-term you're going to get a lot of

17:15

videos of people hating on the

17:16

cybertruck you're going to have I think

17:18

a very hard Q4 where people are

17:20

incentivized not to buy a Tesla until

17:22

January 1 because of the $7,500 tax

17:24

credit being available immediately

17:26

rather than at your tax return so you're

17:28

better off getting the card Jan one

17:30

rates are just maybe starting to Trend

17:33

down a little bit but there's still so

17:35

much economic uncertainty we can't be

17:37

100% about that and in addition to that

17:41

any of this first set of manufacturing

17:45

scale difficulty or drama associated

17:48

with some of the first deliveries of the

17:49

Cyber truck that's all going to hit the

17:51

news within the next 3 to 6 months so

17:53

probably you still have a little bit of

17:55

an anchor on the stock for the next

17:57

three to six months however it's

17:59

entirely possible that once it is

18:02

totally clear to say let's go buy this

18:04

stock it's entirely possible that by

18:06

then the stock is substantially more

18:09

expensive as other people have already

18:11

started pricing this in ahead so uh

18:13

that's somewhat my take short-term again

18:16

bearish but I don't want to sell my

18:18

position in it because I worry that if I

18:21

sell my position in it just to try to

18:23

avoid pain over the next 3 to six months

18:27

then if I don't have a chance to buy in

18:29

again because all of a sudden the

18:31

company beats on deliveries one quarter

18:33

or whatever or some research report

18:35

comes out and the stock is up 10% or 30%

18:38

in a matter of days it's happened before

18:41

Tesla usually has these Cycles we like

18:43

to call them the 21 Day Tesla rally

18:47

cycle and usually when those rallies

18:50

start everybody's like okay well I'll

18:52

just wait for it to come back down and

18:54

then it just does this and and and then

18:56

it you know kind of Peters from there

18:58

but it doesn't go all the way back down

19:00

here so that's historically and

19:03

anecdotally what I've seen Tesla do so

19:05

sometimes when it moves it moves rapidly

19:07

but otherwise yeah buckle up uh for the

19:10

short term for the long term was pretty

19:12

exciting so if you like this check out
