GTA 6 in 3 Weeks - Everything You Need To Know Before You Play!
What this video covers
This breakdown provides an exhaustive preview of Grand Theft Auto VI, compiling confirmed developer insights, gameplay overhauls, and narrative details. Set in the expansive state of Leonida, the title introduces major structural shifts including realistic police response, dynamic character management, and vehicle storage mechanics. It also clarifies key release logistics, edition details, and widespread rumors circulating within the gaming community.
Key takeaways
- The game is set in the state of Leonida, featuring six distinct regions with a map size roughly double Los Santos and three times Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Players alternate between dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, managing their dynamic partnership and personal weapon loadouts stored primarily in vehicle trunks.
- The police system introduces a 6-star rating, requiring suspects to be spotted and reported, with law enforcement actively remembering vehicle and clothing descriptions.
- World simulation is vastly upgraded with over 600,000 NPC animations, interactive wildlife featuring over 170 species, and realistic stamina, sleep, and fitness mechanics.
- Stealing modern cars requires specialized digital tools, and vehicles now consume fuel or electric charge, requiring strategic planning during pursuits.
- The story enforces cash milestones that require engaging with the open-world economy, with unprotected cash lost upon arrest or death unless deposited in ATMs.
- GTA 6 will launch solely as a single-player experience without GTA Online or a dedicated first-person mode on day one.
Topics covered
- World Scale and the State of Leonida
- Explores the expansive setting inspired by Florida, broken into Vice City, the Keys, Grass Rivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Cologah. It emphasizes non-linear exploration, accessible building interiors, and unmapped open-world secrets.
- Law Enforcement and Criminal Profile Systems
- Details the revamped 6-star wanted system, which relies on realistic witness reports, tracker alarms, and visual identification. Law enforcement tracks outfits and vehicles, while player actions influence an underlying criminal profile ranging from professional to psycho.
- Protagonists and Survival Mechanics
- Examines Jason and Lucia's cooperative dynamic, the character-switching system, and the influence of player choices on their relationship. Includes physical condition mechanics such as gym workouts, sleep deprivation effects, and inventory limitations.
- Vehicles, Heists, and Economy
- Covers updated car theft requirements using slim jims and key cloners, refueling mechanics, weapon locker trunks, robbery hierarchies, and the necessity of fencing goods and banking cash to prevent loss upon death.

If you're anything like me, you've
played so much GTA 5 that the whole
game's basically muscle memory at this
point. Well, GTA 6 is just two showers
away, and before you play it, you're
going to have to unlearn pretty much all
of that. So, I'm covering everything you
need to know before you play GTA 6.
Every trailer, every interview, every
preview, all condensed in one place. And
also a bunch of stuff you've probably
never heard of. Like how picking up
litter can actually help your criminal
record. A very important thing you
should do after every mission to avoid
losing all your cash. Yes, apparently
that's an actual risk. And also how
initially they were horrified by the
projections of how many NPCs they'd
need, so Rockstar ended up building a
whole studio in Los Angeles just for the
NPCs. Plus, of course, a lot, lot more.
Like cops that remember what you were
wearing, and a story that can get locked
at spots until you've hit certain cash
goals.
>> [music]
>> And yeah, some of what's going around is
fake, but a lot of the craziest stuff is
real, and it came straight from
Rockstar. I checked every single thing,
and there's something about this new map
that most of you still believe that I'll
get to at the end of the video. Starting
off with the basics. So, the date.
November 19th, 2026. It's a Thursday,
and honestly, there were times I didn't
think we'd even get to see this day. It
was meant to be fall 2025, then May
26th, and now this. Two delays. I aged
about 5 years and actually have to pay
taxes now. And yeah, you've probably
seen people saying it might get delayed
again to February 2027. Busted. That
came from an anonymous 4chan post, and
Take-Two's own earnings report in August
still says November 19th. So, relax.
It's still happening. It's on PS5 and
Xbox Series X and S, and that's it. No
PS4, no Xbox One, and no PC at launch.
However, there are rumors of an earlier
PC launch, but I'll get to that later.
So, if your cousin swears he's playing
it on his laptop day one, he's not. I
love him, but he's not. Price. [music]
Standard $79.99, ultimate $99.99.
Remember all those videos saying it cost
150 bucks? Busted. Still not cheap, but
people still pay that for old Mario
games, so my wallet's taking that as a
win. Now, here's the one that pissed
everyone off. If you buy the physical
copy, there's no disc [music] in the
box. Yeah, it's a download code. So,
what's even the point of the physical
copy? Who knows? Anyway, you're
basically buying a very expensive piece
of paper. The good news is that code
still lets you preload from November
12th, same as digital. And if you're on
PS5 digital, the PlayStation store
listings say it unlocks at midnight
local time on the 19th. So, New Zealand
gets it first. In the US, it's one
window, midnight Eastern, which means
the West Coast actually gets it at 9:00
p.m. on the 18th. Lucky. Xbox hasn't
listed country-by-country times yet. So,
here's what I'm doing. Before the 12th,
I'm clearing a ton of space because this
thing's apparently around 210 gigs.
That's about double Red Dead 2's size.
Then, on the 12th, I preload the game,
and for the next week, I just stare at a
lock like it owes me money. Now, if you
pre-order or ordered the game, the
vintage Vice City pack. That's a
two-tone 55 Vapid Stanier, the Shoreline
Garage in Ocean Beach, and some
old-school outfits for both of them.
Digital buyers get it as long as they
buy before November 20th. The Ultimate
Edition adds stuff that unlocks as you
go through the story's chapters, like a
'95 Grotti Cheetah, a garage, and two
mod shops, Right On Customs and One-Eyed
Willie's, that are literally only open
if you've got Ultimate. You can upgrade
later, though, so you don't have to
decide tonight. But, it does kind of
mean some stuff in the game is behind a
paywall, which also pissed off a bunch
of people. So, is Ultimate worth the
extra 20 bucks? Honestly, if you're a
car person like me, yeah, just for those
two shops. If you only care about the
story, Standard's fine, and you can
upgrade once you know you're hooked,
which, let's be real, you will be. Oh,
and that Collector's Edition you saw,
it's a merch box from the Rockstar
store, not a special version of the
game. So, you're paying for cool nerdy
stuff, not for more game. And if you
want the matching controller,
PlayStation's selling two limited
edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers for
about 85 bucks each. Just know they
don't arrive before the 19th. One trap I
almost fell for. Digital pre-orders come
with a free month of GTA plus and that's
for GTA online on GTA 5. Some people
thought it might mean we're also getting
GTA 6 online, but not yet sadly. So that
half a million GTA dollars, it's not
going to Jason. Jason's broke. Jason's
going to stay broke and you're
definitely not alone on launch night.
Sensor Tower estimates about 6 million
digital pre-orders in the US alone.
That's their estimate, not T 2's, but
still that's millions of people in the
US alone wanting the game the second it
unlocks. Pray for the servers. And
reviews? Reviewers reportedly already
have the game and the word is they can't
post their reviews until November 18th,
the day before launch. So if you're
nervous, you'll find out if it's good a
day early I guess. Okay, so once that
download's finally done, here's where
you're actually going. The whole game
takes place in Leonida, which is
basically Rockstar's version of Florida
and trust me, they leaned all the way
into the Florida thing. Rockstar's own
site splits it into six places. Vice
City, the Leonida Keys, Grass Rivers,
Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount
Cologah. Starting off with Vice City
obviously. Rockstar calls it the sun and
fun capital of America. You've got Ocean
Beach with the pastel art deco hotels,
Little Cuba, the Tishawaka flea market
full of bootleg brands, and the port
which Rockstar calls the cruise ship
capital of the world. If you've only
ever played GTA 5, think Los Santos but
louder and way more neon. Honestly, I
think that's where you're spending most
of your nights and most of your money.
Then there's the keys, which is where
Jason lives and it's actually where the
game starts. Islands, boats, bars, and
it's easily the most chill part of the
map. Rockstar literally describes it as
not flashy, but easy, which is also how
I'd describe myself. Rockstar also says
the keys sit on the doorstep of some of
the most beautiful and dangerous waters
in America. So if you're into boats,
diving, or fishing, that's your spot.
The ultimate edition fishing boat is
literally described as perfect for
reeling in catches out in Gambit Bay.
Grass Rivers is the Everglades.
Airboats, mangroves, gators, and
Rockstar's description says the gators
are the famous part, but there are far
deadlier things out there. Deadlier than
gators. So, yeah, I'm not swimming there
on day one or ever. [music] Port Gelhorn
is the rundown vacation town. Cheap
motels, shut down attractions, empty
strip malls. And Rockstar's advice there
is, and I'm quoting, "Hold on to your
wallet." Honestly, that's the most
honest tourism slogan I've ever heard.
Ambrosia is in the middle of the state.
It's got a sugar refinery that gives
everybody jobs and a biker gang called
the final chapter that, according to
Rockstar, provides almost everything
else. One official screenshot shows
Jason running from them outside a bar
called the Thirsty Wolf. So, you know,
mixed economy. And Mount Chiliad is up
against the northern border. Hunting,
fishing, off-road trails. And the
official description says it's where the
