How to Use Meta Muse with Your Instagram Saves: Trips, Recipes, Shopping and Content Ideas

You have hundreds of saved Reels you will never look at again. Muse can actually read them. Here is how to connect Instagram and turn your saves into plans.

Everyone has a graveyard of saved Instagram posts: restaurants to try, recipes, outfits, workout routines, "someday" trips. Saving feels productive. Then you never open them again.

This is one of the few things Muse can do that ChatGPT and Claude cannot, because Meta owns Instagram. Connect your account and Muse can read your saves and turn them into something you will actually use: an itinerary, a grocery list, a shopping list or a content plan. Meta even used "turn a saved recipe Reel into a grocery list" as a launch example.

Before you start: organize your saves (5 minutes)

The single biggest tip from people who have done this: sort your saves into collections first. In Instagram, tap the bookmark on a post and choose (or create) a collection. Good collections are about a purpose, not a vibe:

  • "Colorado trip"
  • "Weeknight dinners"
  • "Living room ideas"
  • "Post formats to try"

When you later ask Muse to "use my Colorado trip collection," it filters instead of guessing. A pile of a few hundred unsorted saves still works, but the results are noisier.

Step 1: Connect Instagram

  1. In Muse, go to Settings > Connectors.
  2. Choose Instagram and tap Connect.
  3. Pick the account that holds your saves (if you have more than one).
  4. Then open Settings > Permissions > Instagram and check what Muse may do. For this guide it only needs to read; set posting and messaging to Ask.

Step 2: Pick a recipe below

Turn saved travel Reels into an itinerary

This is the most popular use, and the results are genuinely good. One reviewer asked Muse to go through her saved Reels for a Colorado trip; it scanned hundreds of saves, found the ten that were about Colorado, kept eight, explained why it dropped two, and produced a visual PDF itinerary with images from the posts.

PROMPT
Look through my saved Instagram posts about Colorado (or my "Colorado trip" collection). Group them by type: food, hikes, things to do, places to stay. Drop anything that's closed, far out of the way, or a tourist trap. Then build a 5-day itinerary as a PDF, and list what you left out and why.

Tip: ask Muse to check opening hours and whether places are still open. Saved posts can be years old.

Turn saved recipes into a meal plan and grocery list

PROMPT
From my "Weeknight dinners" collection, pick 5 recipes for next week that take under 40 minutes. Write each one out as a short recipe for 2 people, then make one combined grocery list grouped by store section.

If a saved Reel only shows the recipe in the video (not the caption), Muse may not get every quantity right. Ask it to flag any recipe where it had to guess.

Turn saved outfits or decor into a shopping list

PROMPT
Look at my "Living room ideas" saves and describe the common style in 3 sentences. Then find 8 items under $150 each that would recreate that look. Put them in a table with links. Don't buy anything.

Turn saved fitness posts into a plan

PROMPT
From my saved workout Reels, build a 4-week plan, 3 days a week, 30 minutes each, for someone with dumbbells at home. Remind me on workout days at 7am.

For creators: turn your saves into a content plan

Creators save posts they wish they had made. That pile is a record of your own taste. One creator's approach, which works well:

  1. Keep separate collections for hooks, formats, topics and offers.
  2. Ask Muse to find the patterns, not to copy posts.
  3. Turn the strongest patterns into a small, realistic plan.
PROMPT
Analyze my saved posts in my "Hooks" and "Formats" collections. What patterns do you see in the opening seconds and in the structure? Group them, and tell me which problems they solve for the viewer. Then suggest a 30-day plan for my niche ([your niche]): 3 posts a week, one theme per week, in my own voice. Adapt the patterns, never copy a post.

Save the result to Notion or Google Docs (both have Connectors) so it becomes a living swipe file. After you post, tell Muse what performed well so the next plan improves.

Where to find the result

PDFs and documents Muse creates are saved in the Library tab. Recurring jobs (like a weekly meal plan) show up under your Muse's avatar > Upcoming.

Make it recurring

Saves keep piling up, so this works best as a habit:

PROMPT
Every Sunday at 5pm, look at anything I saved on Instagram this week. Sort it into my collections, and tell me in 5 bullets if there's anything worth acting on this week (a restaurant to book, a recipe to cook, an event to go to).

Privacy notes

  • Connecting Instagram lets Muse read more than your saves. Keep it read-only unless you need posting.
  • Posting to Instagram needs a professional account, and you should keep it on Ask so nothing goes out without you.
  • Anything Muse reads can end up in its memory. Check avatar > fingerprint icon > memory if you want to remove something.

Frequently asked questions

Can Meta Muse see my saved Instagram posts?+

Yes, once you connect Instagram in Settings > Connectors and pick the account. Muse can then search and sort your saved Reels and posts when you ask it to.

Does Muse post to Instagram for me?+

It can, with approval, but posting requires an Instagram professional (business or creator) account. Reading your saves works with a personal account.

Should I organize my saves first?+

It helps a lot. Instagram collections (like 'Colorado trip' or 'Dinner ideas') let you point Muse at exactly the saves you mean. A random pile of saves gives a messier result.

Can Muse read what is said in a saved Reel?+

It works from what Instagram shares with it, such as captions and post details. For a long video where the spoken content matters, it is safer to give Muse a transcript.
