Why did the background remover move?
Background removal now has its own product, removebackground.dev, built only for cutouts. The old tool here asked a general image generator to redraw your picture without its background, which was slow, could change details and often couldn't produce real transparency. The new one uses a dedicated cutout model and keeps your original pixels.
Is removebackground.dev free?
You can sign in free with Google and see a preview of every result. New accounts get 50 free credits, and a full-size transparent PNG costs 1 credit. After that, packs start at $17 for 4,000 credits. There is no subscription and no watermark.
Do I need a YouTube link like before?
No. The old tool only worked on a YouTube video's thumbnail. removebackground.dev takes any image you upload: thumbnails, portraits, product photos, logos.
Can I remove backgrounds in bulk or from code?
Yes. Bulk handles up to 100 images in one go, and the API removes backgrounds from your own app or workflow. Both use the same credits.
Is my youtubetranscript.dev account the same there?
Yes. Sign in with the same Google account or email. Credits are separate: removebackground.dev credits are only for background removal.
Are my images stored?
Free previews are deleted as soon as they are made. Full-size results are kept private to your account.
