Improve Your English for Your First Day at Work | Conversation Shadowing Practice
TRANSCRIPTION COMPLÈTE
Hello everyone and welcome back to
English Fluency Teacher. Today we're
practicing this conversation that
thousands of you have been asking for
your first day at work. This is one of
the most searched and most anxiety
inducing or anxietycreating
situations for English learners. Why do
I say this? because it combines or adds
professional English, social skills,
first impressions,
and workplace culture all at once. And
one conversation can set the tone for
your entire career at a company. Now,
here's what makes this conversation
incredibly valuable. So, you'll
experience a complete first day from
arrival to departure. So when you clock
in, when you clock out, when you start,
you finish. You'll meet your manager,
your team members, your colleagues, have
lunch with a new colleague, and wrap up
your first day. So finish your first
day. This is 175 sentences of natural
workplace dialogue covering both formal,
professional, communication, and casual
office small talk. So, you'll learn how
to introduce yourself professionally,
ask smart questions without sounding
clueless like you know nothing, make a
great first impression, and also to
navigate or work out this office
culture. It will also help you to build
relationships with co-workers and handle
that first awkward day feeling that you
might you might have. Now today your
practice um will start with Alex
starting his first day at a marketing
company and you'll have an interaction
with Jennifer who is the manager, Mike
who is a friendly colleague and Lisa
who's a teammate or a team member. Now
each person requires a slightly
different style of communication just
like a workplace. You have to adapt to
each person. Of course, you show respect
to each person, but you adapt slightly.
So, as always, I'll say each sentence
twice. Listen for the tone and notice
when Alex is professional with the boss
versus relaxed at lunchtime. Feel the
nervousness at first, then the growing
confidence throughout the day. Now, make
it real. Ready to nail your first day?
Let's begin. Here's the scene. It's 8:45
a.m. Alex arrives at the office for the
first day as a marketing coordinator.
He's nervous but excited. Now, let's
experience this entire day together.

Great question. We have an onboarding
manual, but definitely take notes on
anything specific to our team.
