Hi, I'm Jeff Miller, the headphone writer here at Crutchfield, and I'm here with

0:03

the Bowers and Wilkins PX7 Wireless noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones. B&W

0:08

is known for making really good sounding loudspeakers, they have some of the best

0:12

speakers we offer. They've also been crushing it lately with headphones. These

0:15

are some of the fines- sounding noise cancelling headphones that we have. It

0:18

has Bluetooth 5.0, it's the latest, greatest version of Bluetooth, better

0:22

reliability and better sound quality, all that good stuff.

0:25

It also has aptX Adaptive, which is a wireless technology that I haven't seen

0:30

in a headphone before. It prioritizes reliability or quality, kind of depending

0:34

on your situation. It'll even take into account whether

0:37

you're watching a video and fixing the kind of latency issues and that kind of

0:40

thing. One of the most important things to

0:42

mention up front is is the comfort. This is it's kind of the second generation of

0:47

B&W's noise cancellation headphones, the last version was the PX Wireless, which

0:52

were very, very popular at Crutchfield, but they were kind of an acquired

0:57

taste. They were a little too snug for my, for my taste, and the and the ear cups

1:02

were stiff. Some people really liked it, they liked the fact that it didn't move

1:06

around when you moved your head, but it was just a little too much for me.

1:10

I think they've improved here, it feels a lot lighter on your head, the ear

1:14

cups are rounder and softer, they give your ears a little bit more room to

1:18

breathe. It is a snug fit for sure, but now I think it it works better with a

1:23

larger range of head sizes. So I should go over the build of the headphones, it's

1:27

one of the best put-together headphones that you'll find. They've got ballistic nylon

1:32

lining everything, and woven carbon fiber making up kind of the frame of the

1:36

headphone, so really sturdy and feel comfortable throwing them in a bag. The

1:40

noise cancelling is really powerful, they use a kind of a hybrid mic system, you

1:44

have three different levels that you can scroll through using the controls on the

1:48

side. You can also if you need to be aware of your surroundings or listen

1:52

to the conversation, you can hit the ambient pass-through button and use

1:56

those mics to instantly pick up the external sounds. So again, I mainly

2:00

listen wirelessly, you get about 30 hours of wireless use with noise cancellation

2:04

on a full charge. They include a listening cable, but I should mention

2:08

that they don't have passive listening mode, you have to use the internal

2:12

circuitry, so you keep the headphones charged up when you

2:15

want to use them. This also means it won't do any good to connect to a headphone amp or

2:19

anything like that, you're going to be using the amplifier that's built into

2:22

the headphones. Let's talk about sound quality a little bit. The same team that

2:25

created the B&W flagship speakers helped inform the design of the drivers,

2:30

and I think there's some of the best noise cancelling headphones that I've

2:33

heard yet. Very refined sound. Perhaps appropriately I listened to the new Abbey

2:39

Road remix, a very spacious sound larger than the headphones themselves, very

2:43

controlled bass response. You know, everything is punchy, tight, the vocals

2:47

are really clear. I think the imaging is pretty good because a lot of the ad-libs

2:51

that they add into the Beatles records, you could hear them off to the side, to

2:55

the corner, up above you, all kinds of stuff, and this is listening wirelessly.

2:58

so I had the aptX HD from my phone, Amazon Music HD, so I had CD quality

3:05

coming through, these headphones took full advantage of that. So that's the B&W

3:09

PX7 Wireless headphones. If you have any questions, feel free to leave us a
