both cpca and CCS certifications

Miss Jazz meet who has an MS and a

medical background as a CNA

m guidelines together so without further

and this is a four-part e m series yes

we will discuss in part one the AMCI

annotation technique called Chun we're

going to teach you how to Chun your e m

section we're also going to learn to

code office visits and scoring the

medical decision making in part one in

part two we're going to discuss

inpatient coding Hospital observation

we're also going to talk about

consultations and emergency departments

part three we're going to talk about

Nursing Facility visits prolonged

services and part four this is where

we're gonna summarize all of it and

we're going to test your knowledge but

rest assured throughout the parts where

you will be testing your knowledge and

finally keep in mind that we will

consider the 2023 guidelines and apply

them every step of the way now let's get

the topics last week that's week one we

reviewed Chun we learned how to code

office visits and scoring the MDM this

week week two we're going to take a deep

dive into the 2023 changes

on hospitals observations Ed

consultations and nursing facilities all

right everybody

let's get into it but before we can we

have to know

our texts and our tools and this is just

a review of what we discussed last time

you'll need your 2023 CPT manual and if

you have that little companion it is

excellent it'll help clarify some of the

guidelines also the AMA CPT guidelines

handout this is published by AMA and if

you don't have the 2023 manual

definitely use this handout it's also in

your online course

and finally if you have the MCG manual

this is an excellent tool so definitely

use it it's not required it is optional

and don't forget those writing tools

now let's talk about the goals of the

presentation number one

we're going to discuss hospital visits

number two Ed three

consultations

and we're going to talk about nursing

visits too if we have enough time and

we're going to talk about those 2023

changes when we speak about office

visits under that category we're going

to talk about inpatient hospital and

observations

did I say office visits I mean hospital

visits we're going to talk about

inpatient hospital and observations same

day Admissions and discharges on the

same day and discharges we're going to

discuss emergency department guidelines

as well as consultation guidelines and

if we have enough time we're going to

discuss

nursing facilities hopefully we will

using the AMCI PDR chart and the PDR

chart is going to have a little

different look in the right hand corner

we've added the

um the codes for Hospital observation

consultations nursing facilities and

home visits so this will be very helpful

for today's presentation while you don't

have this this is a you know a chart

that we are developing for 2024 and this

is kind of a beta so hopefully you will

understand you know and if you want to

put or document your codes feel free to

do so
