Need For Speed Underground 2 Remake Update #2 (Unreal Engine 5)
FULLSTÄNDIGT TRANSKRIPT
This video is a follow-up to my first
two update videos regarding the Need for
Speed Underground 2 remaster/reake
called Kufu. First of all, I don't want
to spam update videos on this mod all
the time, but it has been almost a year
since my last video about it, and I
still get comments every single day
asking where to download the demo, what
has been updated since last December,
and ultimately when the release date is
for the final build. The community
reception to this remake has been simply
absurd. That's honestly the best way to
put it. The two videos I made on it last
year both racked up over 300,000 and
400,000 views, respectively. Underground
2 came out in 2004. And yet, that is the
sides of the audience that are
interested in a project like this. It's
crazy. That's how you know this game is
special and how sought after a proper
remaster/reake
has been over the years by the
community. So, I think it's time to
address these questions and update the
community on as to where the game is at
as of September 2025.

First and foremost, there has been a
plethora of updates regarding the status
of the development of the game. The
owner of this project, App Film Bum, has
stated that career mode finally works.
>> I'm Rachel, Samantha's friend. I heard
your plane finally got in.
>> All events exist. Complete unlock
progression is there. magazine covers
and the DVD opportunities, in-game map,
all shops are enterable, choosing brands
for specific parts, and full career mode
statistics are fully working now. Not
only that, but the issue where the cars
would kind of stutter and look a bit
glitchy while driving has been addressed
and corrected to better replicate how it
looked and felt in the original
Underground 2. We can also see that the
daytime lighting setting seems to be
working great. And in my opinion, this
is one of my most anticipated features.
It just completely changes the vibe and
I want to experience this legendary game
with a different atmosphere and see how
it feels. Now, of course, not everyone
shares this same sentiment, which is why
I'm pleased to say that the daytime
setting is completely optional. You only
get daytime if you want daytime. And if
you're wondering what the best way to
play this game is, I'd highly recommend
plugging in a controller of your
choosing, like this one right here, and
playing with the controller. The streets
of Bay View are not made for keyboard
racing, let's be honest. And if you have
any issues at all, you can run a program
called DS4 Windows, which helped me be
able to use this PS5 controller when I
play. Do you see this? Do you see this
PS5 controller? Do you see me? Oh, hey,
it's me, Papa RPG. This is me playing
the game with my PS5 controller with DS4
Windows running in the background. Dino
tuning has also been implemented, and
it's fully functional, just as it was in
the original game. You can live test on
the racetrack or on the actual dyno
itself to test and compare different
setups for your builds. Of course, this
feature will also be available in the
daylight if you so wish to see it like
that. Again, completely optional. By the
way, if you revved up your engine and
crashed your finger into the subscribe
button, it would mean more to me than
you'll ever know. The reason why you're
seeing my face right now for the first
time ever is because I want to show you
that I'm going all in. We're locking in.
This is it, baby. So, yeah, subscribing
will mean more than you'll ever know. Of
course, I'll always update you about
this game, and I have content similar to
this, so feel free to check that out.
Anyways, now the next feature I wanted
to discuss is the apparent new weather
system. We haven't been shown too much
of it as of yet, but we have gotten this
screenshot showing which what appears to
be a foggy daylight overcast vibe. One
user back in August asked if we're
almost there in terms of the game being
ready for release. User Finnwire, who is
a verified tester of the game, says,
quote, "Still a lot of things that
aren't quite there yet, such as the game
completely missing AI opponents and
traffic and destructible objects. Also,
there is still stuff to tweak in the
driving model, so it feels closer to the
original, as well as being realistic
along with a bunch of less serious stuff
related to graphics, etc. The driving
model has come a long way, but it still
needs tweaking, but I was able to tune
cars and improve lap times on the
airport URL track and progress in the
career events, so it's showing promise.
Also, the new weather system and
improved car pay model are very nice. We
got a nice little weather showcase
demonstrating the new thunderstorm
weather, too. In my opinion, it looks
absolutely stunning. I mean, the
lightning strikes in the air really look
incredible. And the fact that when the
lightning strikes, it illuminates the
ground and your vehicle for a brief
moment is such a nice touch.
It's those little features like that
that can truly immerse you into a
remake. It's how you can tell the
developers are truly putting their heart
and soul into not only remastering this
beloved game, but adding little nuance
things to make the experience even more
enjoyable than we remember. The new
dynamic weather and time of day they're
implementing looks beautiful. Here we
can see some different stages of time
along with weather and how the world of
Bayiew will look. It's wild to think
about. Never in all my years of loving
this game would I have imagined this
would be possible. All at the hands of
independent modders and developers, too.
nothing to do with EA
>> EA games
>> challenge.
>> Shots like this with the sunset sky just
slowly moving over time. These shots
should be enough to convince you that
this remaster/reake is going to be art.
They are going as far as replacing the
road textures with new ones, so it has a
more polished, modern feel as well. The
attention to detail is impressive, and
it's only going to improve. For example,
they will be swapping the engine noise
for every single vehicle in the game,
and some sound really good. Compare the
different engine levels of this Toyota
Supra. You can hear a pretty big
difference in the upgrades, and on top
of that, they sound pretty sexy, if you
ask me.

Speaking of detail, even when choosing
different style of headlight colors,
just look at the way the light
illuminates and bounces off surfaces
very brightly. This wasn't present in
the OG game, and to me, that's one of
those touches that makes it feel more
immersive, more premium, everything a
remake should be. With that being said,
I know some people see Unreal Engine 5
and get turned off right away, but try
to broaden your horizons just a little
bit. Just take a look at this direct
comparison of OG Underground 2. One clip
with normal graphics and one with the
high contrast mode on next to the Unreal
Engine 5 remake/remaster.

Of
[Music]
course, everyone is entitled to their
own opinions, but I think this game
looks great so far, at least visually.
The way I see it, it can only improve
from this point forward. And like, can
we just appreciate this skyline in
Midnight Purple for a second, people?
Look how sexy it is. Are you looking?
Okay, now open your ear holes. Listen to
this ASMR for a brief moment.
