Elizabeth, thanks so much for joining

0:06

us.

0:06

>> Hello. Hello. H

0:09

>> I'm excited to connect. It's been a

0:11

while. And we're going to talk about

0:12

Circle, one of the most innovative and

0:15

successful fintech companies out there.

0:16

So, let's unpack Circle. What does the

0:19

company do?

0:20

>> So, Circle is a company, a technology

0:23

company building uh the internet

0:25

financial system. We're basically

0:27

building a new economic operating system

0:29

where with the the currency layer being

0:33

USDC, the stable coin that we invented

0:35

in 2018. You know, we're essentially a

0:37

uh we're a a full stack platform and we

0:41

give financial institutions and

0:44

businesses and developers the tools to

0:47

make money work much much more

0:49

intelligently

0:50

because the infrastructure this is all

0:52

built on is open and programmable. And

0:54

it's really and it's built for for a

0:56

money movement. So just as the the way

0:58

to think about it is just as the

0:59

internet reshaped how the world

1:00

interacts with information circles

1:03

transforming what's possible with money

1:04

because that's never really been done

1:06

before. We don't really have a true form

1:08

of digital money. And while we also

1:10

built the largest regulated stable coin

1:13

network that's digital dollars in the

1:14

world, our ambitions transcend far

1:17

beyond just being a crypto company or a

1:19

stable coin issuer. um what we're really

1:22

doing is building a new economic

1:24

operating system uh that has never uh

1:26

existed before because it couldn't

1:28

because the technology wasn't wasn't

1:29

ready for it. And so whether it's a

1:31

central bank or a corner shop, Circle

1:33

connects the dots between all of that.

1:35

And we link banks and merchants and

1:37

internet platforms and asset managers

1:39

and governments into a single global

1:42

network of value that really fuses the

1:45

safeguards of traditional finance with

1:47

the programmability of the of the

1:49

internet.

1:50

>> Okay. So the IPO was back in June. What

1:53

what's next? What's next with Circle?

1:56

>> Uh well gosh, I mean I think what's

1:59

what's very exciting is that um you know

2:02

we are definitely entering or have

2:04

entered a a brand new chapter. uh we

2:07

were and in that respect it's not just

2:09

about being public but it's also about

2:11

having been primarily known as the

2:13

issuer of USDC

2:16

and now we're moving into a world of

2:18

building uh where people are starting to

2:19

recognize that we are essentially

2:22

creating the foundational infrastructure

2:23

layer of a new internet financial system

2:26

of a new economic operating system and

2:29

so uh if you think like for example

2:32

since we went public we recently

2:33

announced ARC which is a layer 1

2:35

blockchain That's which again the

2:38

blockchains are the highways over which

2:39

the money the stable coins uh travel. Um

2:42

it is designed specifically for

2:44

enterprise finance for developers and

2:47

real world economic activity. And that's

2:50

[clears throat] that's incredibly

2:51

exciting. That's that's a uh a

2:53

development that you know uh um that's

2:55

an announcement that we're very very

2:57

proud of and it's an example of the

2:58

direction of travel of the product suite

3:00

we're building out. Um and uh and so

3:04

[clears throat] when you think about

3:05

something like that, just diving into

3:07

that for a second, it really ARC

3:09

presents us with an opportunity for

3:11

every type of company to build on

3:13

enterprisegrade network infrastructure.

3:15

We're really building enterprisegrade

3:16

network infrastructure here, which is

3:18

advancing this kind of shared vision

3:20

that a much more open, inclusive, and

3:23

efficient global economic system can be

3:26

built natively on the internet

3:28

consistent with our with our mission. So

3:30

whether it's the Genius Act passing,

3:32

whether it's ARC, whether it's uh Circle

3:35

Payments Network, which we talked about

3:36

earlier uh this year uh since we went

3:39

public, um our momentum is really

3:41

accelerating from you know global

3:43

partnerships to new product lines that

3:45

bring you know stable value and

3:48

programmable payments to million

3:50

literally millions of people uh

3:52

worldwide. So we have a very bright

3:54

future ahead of us. Um, and uh, but we

3:57

very much see this as a as a whole new

3:58

chapter and kind of that we're only at

4:00

the beginning of.

4:02

>> All right. So, the the culture at at

4:04

Circle, what's it like working there?

4:06

What's the day-to-day culture like?

4:08

>> I am so proud of our culture. I I am

4:10

like beyond proud of our culture. We

4:12

have [clears throat] we have our mission

4:14

which is kind of at the heart of

4:15

everything we do. And around that, we

4:17

have values which we um which we embrace

4:20

uh and evaluate people's performance on

4:23

as well. Um, and they include uh values

4:26

such as high integrity. That won't

4:28

surprise you given we're handling money.

4:30

Um, multistakeholder. So that's about

4:32

you're thinking not just about uh

4:35

employees and shareholders, but you're

4:37

thinking about their families, you're

4:38

thinking about the customers, you're

4:40

thinking about the customers customers,

4:42

you're thinking about the entire

4:43

anywhere money flows and whoever it

4:44

impacts, you're thinking about them. Uh

4:46

uh and so forth. So we've got a set of

4:49

uh we've also got uh uh one that we

4:51

recently put in related to embracing uh

4:55

technology and uh specifically uh AI to

4:58

see how we can to enable us to iterate

5:00

even faster than we already are. Um so

5:03

the culture is one of deep respect. We

5:07

we absolutely uh encourage debate and um

5:12

and uh constructive feedback, but we ask

5:15

that it's it's not but it's very

5:17

important that it's done respectfully.

5:19

Um because if people don't treat each

5:20

other respectfully, then they tend to

5:22

turn each other off and then you're

5:23

literally just wasting time. So start

5:26

from a position of respect and trust and

5:29

then give, you know, the candid feedback

5:31

uh within that perimeter. It's amazing

5:33

how much more willingly the person on

5:34

the other end receiving the feedback

5:35

will will will receive it so that

5:37

everyone realizes they're all part of

5:39

the exact same team. So it's a very we

5:42

work very hard. We iterate very quickly.

5:46

Uh we are a globally distributed

5:47

workforce. So um FaceTime in these kinds

5:51

of environments we we you know really

5:53

ask that everybody has their video on so

5:54

they can see each other. We encourage

5:57

because it's remote first, we um

5:59

encourage team leaders to have in-person

6:01

uh meetings. So, we have um uh budget

6:04

set aside that we're not spending on

6:06

real estate, for example, to encourage

6:08

teams to meet in um convenient locations

6:11

to have team meetings for, you know, two

6:12

or three days every now and again so

6:14

that they're actually interacting in

6:15

person because we believe that's

6:17

important. Um but it's a very you know

6:19

we we work very hard here and we have a

6:21

lot of respect for each other and I

6:23

think there are I would say the major

6:26

far majority of the employee population

6:27

is here because of the mission we're on

6:29

and what they also agree we can build

6:31

with it. So we're an incredibly

6:33

missional aligned um uh uh missiondriven

6:37

um employee base.

6:39

>> All right. So top tier talent they

6:41

always have options regardless of market

6:43

conditions. So, why is now the ideal

6:45

time to join Circle?

6:47

>> I, you know, there's there's uh there's

6:50

so many ways I can answer this. I think

6:51

it's now's the ideal time because,

6:56

you know, way back at the beginning, we

6:58

were kind of sort of imagining what

6:59

could be. Now, we're beyond that. We're

7:02

not just imagining what an onchain

7:04

financial system could look like, a new

7:06

economic operating system could look

7:07

like. We are literally in the middle of

7:09

building it. And um and so that is a

7:14

fact and and so anyone joining now

7:17

doesn't have to worry about is this

7:18

real? No, this is very real and what
