Ukraine Counters Fibre-Optic Drones with Lasers That Fry the Cables
TRANSCRIÇÃO COMPLETA
Hello everyone. So I have a pretty
interesting but short video for you
here. So Ukraine has found a way to
disable Russia's fiber optic drones.
This video is actually shared by the
Russians and it shows Ukraine using a
laser light beam mounted on the drone to
thrive the fiber optic cable on a
Russian waiter drone causing the signal
to cut out. A Twitter user dead cats
explained it a bit more clearly. So he
said if you watch more closely you can
see the gas and the pitch both increase
on the drone's hood display showing that
the operators tried to move away at the
time. He also said the Ukrainian drone
flies along a road with a laser beam
that pretty much burns out any fiber
optic cables lying across it cutting to
the connection to the drone itself. So
Ukraine didn't know that this specific
drone was here. They weren't slot
targeting this one deliberately. They're
just blitzing the laser equipped drone
along a key supply road with a drone
with a laser just in case any fiber
optic drones were here lying an ambush.
I assume that this is a main supply line
for Ukraine. And perhaps this drone is
moving ahead of the convoy to try and
bust any drones waiting before the
convoy actually arrive. It's a quite an
interesting video. Fiber optic drones
have been a bit of a pain for both
Ukraine and Russia since early last year
when they started being used more often
because they can't be jammed by
electronic warfare equipment which makes
them more dangerous. Both sides heavily
use them and has had a lot of success
doing so and both sides struggle to deal
with them. They're much more dangerous
than the bog standard FPV drones. Now
this Russian drone here is described as
a waiter drone which doesn't mean it's
going to hand you a cheese platter and a
bottle of wine. It's basically a drone
that waits in ambush. Ukraine and Russia
both use this tactic. It's basically
just parking the drone in a key area and
when something comes by, they lift off
and try and bomb it, lift off and then
target the vehicle in order to carry the
ambush. It's a tactic that works as they
often catch the target vehicles by
surprise. Both Ukraine and Russia have
had a lot of success doing it. No
location was given for this one, so this
video is a bit short, but as a bruisy
bonus. Here's a nice clip shared from
their pop ros showing Ukraine ambushing
a Russian supply truck with a drone.
This is a key supply road in the area,
and you can see the drone dive in and
hit the truck. The truck initially seems
to survive, but if you watch closely
towards the end, it does grind to a halt
near the bridge. So either this was a
bit of a delayed disabling here, the
engine coning out a few seconds later,
or the crew are injured and this truck
needed to stop. I think the former as
the driver seems to keep his head here
and only stop the truck when they get
under the bridge which provides a bit of
safety. So it seems like he was in full
control of the vehicle at the time. So
that's it for this video. Not much else
to discuss here, just a short one, but
one which is worth taking a look out
for. I hope you found the video
interesting. If so, please click like
