Senate Votes 52-47 — Schumer FLIPS OUT After Thune Pulls A Fast One
完整文本记录
Welcome back to Explain America. This is
your host, Kyle Becker. Senate Majority
Leader John Thun is causing a lot of
controversy because he has actually
advanced a measure that a lot of
Americans want. So, how is he doing it?
Well, it's through a procedure called
reconciliation,
and it could end the partial government
shutdown. But a lot of conservatives are
scratching their heads and wondering
about John Thoon's leadership and what
type of priorities he has. Before we get
into this story, please like, share, and

We appreciate your support for Common
Sense Journalism. Now, the US Senate has
advanced the measure to fund the
Department of Homeland Security,
including Border Patrol and ICE, and
they're looking to do it through budget
reconciliation.
This would provide the Republicans with
the opportunity to pass the bill even
though the Senate is evenly split. It
could go to a 5050 vote and then JD
Vance as the president of the Senate
could cast the tiebreaker. This is
something that Kla Harris did when she
was the vice president under Joe Biden
because it also had a split Senate
during the Biden years. So this budget
reconciliation maneuver is causing some
eyeire in the Republican ranks because
many people are wondering why aren't
they doing something similar with the
Save America Act. Now the Save America
Act cannot be passed through
reconciliation as far as many observers
think. Uh, of course, Senator John
Kennedy proposed that they might as well
try. And, uh, there's a lot of people
wonder why Thun is keeping the Senate
parliamentarian on even though she is
blocking and obstructing some measures.
Whereas the Democratic Party, of course,
they have no qualms against putting
their own fellow traveling
parliamentarian in the Senate or even in
the House to try to get their measures
across. and they have uh over the years
passed some very controversial bills
including the affordable care act which
has led to unaffordable health care
prices in some states. And uh this is uh
another example of how the Democrats
play hard ball while the Republicans
well they don't even bring their bat.
They they sit there and stare as the uh
opponents just uh throw fast balls down
the strike zone. So, this is one of the
things that a lot of Republicans are
wondering. Why don't you just nuke the
zombie filibuster at the very least?
Make it a talking filibuster. At least
there will be a snowballs chance in hell
of getting the Save America Act through
or at the very least just a voter ID
amendment. That is something that's
supported by over 80% of the American
people. Uh it should be a no-brainer, a
sitter at the net. But John Thun can't
even spike that. So why not just remove
Thun at this point because he doesn't
deserve to be a leader of anything. He
is not fighting for the American people.
He is not representing the conservative
base. He is not advancing the America
first agenda. He can't even get recess
appointments for President Donald Trump.
That is unprecedented. So, a lot of
conservatives knew from the very
beginning when Thume was selected by
McConnell and his people to lead the
Senate, uh, they were going to get led
into the swamp, uh, into the middle of
nowhere and stranded there along with
their America first agenda. So, why was
he even agreed to by some of these
so-called conservative senators? Well,
at least Senator Mike Lee uh has been
somewhat outspoken about th and he is
now saying that uh at least one senator
is pretending to go along with the Save
America Act, but he is actually against
it and uh why would they be against
voter ID? Why would they be against
election integrity? Are they cheaters
also? Uh that has to be a question that
comes to our minds because we've accused
the Democratic party on the right of uh
being against election integrity because
they intend to cheat and rig elections.
So why aren't all Republicans on board
with ending this practice, making
America a modern country in terms of its
election practices? Because as you know,
176 nations on Earth have voter IDs to
vote in elections. Why can't we get on
board with that? Well, weighing with
your thoughts about this, what do you
think about John Thun's leadership of
the Senate? Should he be spending more
time trying to pass the Save America Act
than going through all of these
procedures to put the uh DHS funding on
the front burner? Uh, I'll leave that to
you to answer and always appreciate you
watching and weighing in at Explain
America.
