Fever injury report scares fans as FOUR players are listed out for the game against the NY Liberty
完整文本记录
Well, we're back, guys. And by we, I
mean the hospital squad of the Indiana
Fever as four players are out against
the first game against Liberty tomorrow.
from.
>> Listen, I know that there's people like
breathing in paper bags, popping Xanax,
taking deep breaths in because there is
a lot of PTSD about what happened with
the Indiana Fever last season and their
injury riddled season. And it was just
dropped that four players will not be
participating in tomorrow's first
preseason game against the New York
Liberty. And that's Aaliyah Boston due
to her lower leg injury, Ty Harris,
knee, Lexi Hull, hamstring, and Deiris
Dantis of course because she is in visa
hell in a whole different country. And I
had just gotten over my fears about what
was wrong with Aaliyah Boston because
the way that they were speaking about
her injury very much reminded me about
how Caitlyn Clark injury was spoken of
last season. I do also recognize that
there are things that do get blown out
of proportion, especially with big fan
bases. So, I was giving the benefit of
the doubt that maybe they were trying to
keep it close to the chest, keep their
cards close because they did not want to
have other teams scouting in certain
ways or the fan bases freaking out about
things. And I have to say, one of the
reasons I thought that the Indiana Fever
would be drafting a backup for Aaliyah
Boston, which I was thinking could be Ok
even though she does need some more
development. But I was thinking this
because I was wondering what was going
to be happening with Aaliyah Boston's
injury because it was very cloak and
dagger for a while there. And Aaliyah
Boston is a key member of this core.
Now, I'm so thankful that Caitlyn
Clark's name does not appear on the
injury list. Neither does Kelsey
Mitchell's. But I'm definitely concerned
about the hamstring issue that Lexi Hole
has. Now, hamstring issues definitely
vary upon the grade. And according to
good old Google right here, grade A mild
hamstrings, that is a one to two week
recovery time. And this is uh NBA
related. Um, grade two is 3 to 6 weeks.
Grade three is which is severe months
potentially requiring surgery. Now, I
doubt it is that, but either way, one to
two weeks is a pretty decent chunk of
time. I mean, it might be soreness, but
if it is a grade one, then she will
still be able to be here for the
beginning of the season because that is
2 weeks away as it starts on May 9th. As
far as being cautious, I do understand
the precaution because it is much better
to have people out that have any sort of
a strain or soreness for the preseason
games because these are the games that
don't count towards the record. But I
think I'm not the only one feeling a
little bit of PTSD about what happened
last season on the fever. But without
jumping to conclusions,
this could just be very precautionary. A
lot of these players have just started
playing for the first time in months.
And after a full week of training camp
where they probably went pretty hard,
especially some of the newer pieces on
the team to kind of show their stuff and
make sure that they make the team, Lexi
and AB are omitted from that as they do
have multi-year contracts. But I also
don't think I'm at the crash out stage
just yet. The New York Liberty have also
released their injury list and it is as
follows. Satu Sabily is listed as
questionable for reconditioning.
Rebecca Allen is also reconditioning. So
this this is what I was saying that
there the reconditioning element of
things and Fatau Fat Fatau is also
reconditioning
but she is listed as out. A lot of their
European players are also not with the
team yet, including Leoni Feebich. Um,
and Raquel Carrera, who was on the
Spanish team that uh, the Liberty have
rights to. I really liked what I saw
from her at FIA. Um, Pauline Astier and
Uggon Onaya, I believe it is. With the
Leah Boston out, I think we will see a
lot of Mo Billings and Maiisha Hines
Allen in that position. And again, Mo
Billings with her screen setting, she
probably will be rolling to the basket.
This is actually probably a great
opportunity to see Mo Billings and
Caitlyn Clark together and how they gel,
especially in that pick and roll action.
Now, with Ty Harris out, I do anticipate
we do see more Raven Johnson maybe
backing her up at the point. That is not
something that I anticipated seeing as
much tomorrow, but since their Becca
point guard will be out, I think this is
the opportunity to see where Raven
Johnson is with her court IQ and her
passing. And again, I didn't see Raven
Johnson making a big impact in
tomorrow's game because I even though
she's pesky as heck on defense. I think
that the size of the Liberty and the
veteran presence would present a bit of
a problem for a rookie like Raven
Johnson at her size. And as I was
filming, Khloe Peterson did drop another
bit of news and she was told that all of
these are precautionary. It is part of
AB and Harris's return to play regimen
after injury. And Hull is dealing with
some tightness that Indiana didn't want
to risk in the preseason. If this was a
regular season game, they would be
playing. So, okay, good. Put the Xanax
away. Meditation done. That paper bag
you're breathing in, you can put that
down now. I think we're good. But they
really buried the lead on that one,
didn't they? I think it would have been
integral when dropping this information
in particular for Indiana Fever fans to
include the precautionary element about
this because this was dropped right
before I started filming this and I
guarantee you I think especially because
of last season thinking that there's a
curse on the team. The overreactions to
this were absolutely predictable. I'm
very curious about what the injury
report will be for other teams. I also
think they might give KK some shots
under the post. KK is someone that I
definitely think needs to hone a lot of
her skills and her court awareness and
her IQ on the court. She is super
athletic though, so she has that going
for her and you know, wingspan for days.
But I do like that they are airing on
the side of caution because last season
Caitlyn Clark did not air on the side of
caution. She felt some soreness in her
quad and she had that home game over at
Iowa that I don't think she wanted to
miss and would have missed for anything.
It just didn't work out for her in the
end though and she kept trying to power
through things. I don't think that
Caitlyn understood her own body as far
as injuries goes because she had never
been injured really. So, she was trying
to tough it through. And I think the
team is realizing, you know what, we
have to take further precautions,
especially with, you know, AB a star on
the team, Lexi, somebody who they have a
multi-year contract and is integral to
their defense and anybody else and
everybody else on the team. Ty Harris is
an important part of that team, even
just as a backup to Caitlyn. If Caitlyn
ever does need some rest, they do need
to be able to count on Ty. And Ty Harris
did have surgery last year and was out
for the majority of last season when she
was on the wings. And not only would Tai
be able to give Caitlyn a rest, but Ty
Harris would also be able to give Kelsey
Mitchell a rest. So, no, I think we can
uh crawl back from the ledge. Things
seem to be okay. This is a preseason
game, so it wouldn't be going like a
regular game anyway. And I do hope that
everyone does get rested and healed up
and they come out swinging for May 9th,
the official opening day for the Indiana
Fever. There is still a lot of upside to
what will be happening against the New
York Liberty. Caitlyn Clark will be on
