Labour is facing a potential internal

revolt with reports that MPs are already

plotting to force Cir Stalmer to name a

date for his resignation. According to

the Times, a group of disaffected

backbenches is drawing up plans to par

pressure pressure on the prime minister

amid fears of a devastating local

election wipeout.

Projections suggest Labour could lose up

to 1,900 council seats, a result that

would send shock waves through the party

and trigger a full-blown leadership

crisis. Now, those concerns appear to be

spilling over behind the scenes as a

number of MPs, many elected in 2024, are

said to be rallying support for a

leadership challenge once the votes are

in. An open letter is reportedly being

drafted directly blaming Kstarma for the

party's expected losses and demanding he

sets out a clear timetable to step down.

Senior figures are understood to be

aware of the plans with comparisons

already being drawn to the plot by

Gordon Brown's allies that forced Tony

Blair from power. But this isn't yet a

coordinated coup. So far, only a small

number of MPs are believed to have been

approached to sign the letter, and no

cabinet minister has publicly backed any

move against the prime minister. Still,

the anger inside Labor is said to be

real. One minister reportedly described

genuine frustration within the party,

while others believe any serious attempt

to remove Star will have to come from

the backbenches.

Attention is already turning to

potential successes. Health Secretary

Wes Streeting and Angela Raina are both

seen as having enough support to mount a

challenge, although neither is believed

to be ready to make the first move.

Behind the scenes, Rea is even said to

have held private talks aimed at

strengthening her credentials on

defense, fueling speculation about

positioning for a future leadership bid.

All of this comes as Labour braces for

what could be a historic setback. The

party is expected to suffer heavy losses

not just in England but potentially in

Wales and Scotland too. There are fears

Labour could slump to third place in

some areas. While even in London, its

traditional stronghold, the party could

record its lowest ever vote share. This

comes amid the rise of Reform UK and the

Greens. And in former Redwall heartlands

like Wakefield, Barnsley and Sunderland,

losses could be particularly severe. For

Thursday. Could be a difficult time for

the prime minister. Why on earth is he

on his 44th foreign trip? What's the

point?

aren't there, for the prime minister?

Doing all this stuff at home. he has to

do cost of living crisis deal the NHS

the economy but also there's a kind of

piece facing the world talking to world

leaders this meeting over the weekend

has been the European political

community 45 member countries the very

loose gathering of European Union and

non-Europe

union countries plus Canada of course

Mark Carney is there and the European

Union institutions because they're

looking at Ukraine the UK is now saying

it will take part in in a 78 billion

pound loan to Ukraine that was being

held up previously by Hungary but

there's been a change of leadership uh

there and that's why it's going ahead um

he has to go away Martin because of

because of Brexit because of what you

campaigned for back in the day but the

point of Brexit is you need to get about

form these bilateral um uh uh

connections with other countries you

can't just go along every quarter and

meet 27 other EU countries and outsource

lots of European Union foreign policy to

Brussels. We do it all ourselves. It's a

price of sovereignty is traveling more.
