Canva Tutorial For Beginners: A Free 2 Hour Masterclass

to the canva design Essentials course

during the course uh you'll learn how to

master all of the tools but also I'll

share all of the design fundamentals to

enable you to create beautiful real

world designs easily in Campa so who am

I I'm Dan Scott uh I've been a

professional designer for about 17 years

now uh I've won multiple teaching Awards

and and my both in-person and online

courses have been attended by more than

a million people just like you you'll be

given a brief to create uh design work

for your own unique store along with

lots of class projects so that you can

create all sorts of designs and Graphics

to bring your brand to Life we'll start

easy and fun with a series of social

media posts working on images color type

and Graphics you'll learn how to use all

of canvas's new fancy AI tools like the

one-click background remover and image

generator you'll develop a professional

logo for your company working through

all of the tools techniques and

shortcuts designers use to pick a design

color and type for your logo you'll

Master text Heavy documents using canvas

doc feature utilizing things like Styles

and tables presentations will come a

breeze whether you're customizing

templates or building something from

scratch you learn how to make consistent

eye-catching presentations using layouts

charts and type animations you'll bring

your work to life with video editing and

animation en camber I'll share all the

tricks of the trade now this course is

aimed at people who are new to canva and

maybe new to design in general uh

whether you're doing work for yourself

or your client your school doesn't

matter we're going to start right at the

beginning and work our way through step

welcome uh first things first getting

started is you need to download the

exercise files okay there'll be a link

on the page for those just so that you

can keep up with everything we're doing

in the course um inside those exercise

files there is a shortcut sheet you can

download that print it up and stick an

next to your computer and highlight the

ones that you think are really useful

we're not going to like go through every

single shortcut in this course we're

essential Ling uh but there are some

ones that are just that Mak sense

they're easy all right next up uh make

sure you install canva or sign up for it

at least you can use the canva uh in the

browser or you can download a separate

app and use it on your desktop they do

the exact same thing they look the same

thing it's up to you whether you want to

use Cana in your browser or Cana on the

desktop that's the same thing I'm not

sure what I'm typing now when you do

sign up for canva make sure you use my

link here um because there is a free and

a pro version of canva obviously the

free version is free the pro um you pay

for and there are some features that are

limited um in canva to pro only and what

I'm going to do is if you are doing this

course my advice is to even if you're

going to keep the free version you're

like no never going to pay for it okay

do the 30-day trial for the pro version

and just cancel it before the end of the

30 days while you're doing this course

because yeah I'm not going to hide from

all the pro versions okay there's so

much you can do for the free version so

if you're only going to stick to free

you'll totally be fine in this course

but sign up for the 30 days get a sense

of what the pro features are um so you

can make a decision whether you want to

go back to free or stay it free it's

totally up to you but do it so you get

to follow along with the course and if

you use my link here um where is it here

somewhere and if you do use my link uh

canva does give me a referral fee

doesn't cost you anymore just so you

know next is I get excitable and I talk

really fast I think I talk fast some

people think I talk too slow either way

you can speed me up or slow me down

there's a cog over here in the corner

you click on it and you'll be able to

change the speed either slow slightly

drunk sounding Den or super chip monk

changes so fast it's kind of a dynamic

growing blossoming product which is a

pain in the butt for me as an instructor

because they keep moving things around

so uh if there are big changes I'll

update the videos if there's small

changes I'll have a little popup go

Taylor with your popups have a look out

for those um and Taylor will put those

in if there are small little changes um

but just keep an eye out you might be

the first to see the change when they

roll it out so have a look at the

comments have a look for

popups um or I'll cut in and update it

but it is changing so let me know in the

comments if you spot something that's

moved all right that is it we've got it

started let's get into the course all

right before you go um you know how I

just mentioned there will be uh

potential updates they've gone and

updated it um while I'm recording this

course I've had to come back here and

just kind of point it out it's an easy

one okay but uh during this first half

of this course okay H watch this when I

click on something like text here watch

this this is a video of me playing um in

the course okay and go here I used to

click on this little Double Arrow and

all the text stuff would appear over

here this is true for a lot of things

they appear on this right hand side

theyve decided that it's bitter on the

left hand side all that's really changed

so I just kind of moved it from the

right hand side to the left hand side

I'll show you in the new version of

canver it is here if I go into say text

here you see it appears on this left

hand side here now if I want to go to

effects same thing they're no longer on

the right they're on the left hand side

no biggie it was on the right now it's

on the left there you go those are the

kinds of little UI updates that canva is

always making that cause my life pain

but make the product better which is

good for you there you go now you can

start the course let's go all right hey

in this video I'm going to going to give

you a brief for the course uh everyone's

going to get something unique that's why

it's called the random project generator

but it's all going to be very similar so

that you'll get a new client okay and

you'll get a different animal you you'll

see why in a second um but you'll be

able then to work on all the class

projects and build something unique for

you for your portfolio so that when you

do submit your class projects or include

this in your portfolio everyone's

doesn't look the same the first thing is

something that me and the team made okay

find canva designer Essentials click on

that into your current city or town okay

hit generate my project and this is the

brief uh I ended up with Fox camping and

outdoor yours will be a different animal

and a different uh business here okay if

you there's a retry button down the

bottom don't use it especially don't use

it more than three times okay and you

will get a different combination of

these and stick with the one you get

clicking the button until you find

something you already know I don't know
