My First Flight with the World's NEWEST Drone - HoverAir Aqua Field Test

Hey everyone and welcome to another

Adventures Out video. My name's AD and I

am a kayaker and walker trying to get

fit and healthy ready for the new

kayaking season. Part of that I've

invested in a new piece of kit and that

is the Hover Air Aqua drone. I'm part of

the early access program. So I'm one of

the first 30 people in the world who

have bought and paid for this drone to

actually receive it. So, I'm going to

try and do some video coverage of me

learning to fly and first use and some

tips and tricks, all that kind of stuff.

the plan today is to do my first flight.

I know what you're thinking. This is a

football field and not a lake or a pond

or a river or a canal or the sea. And

you'll be right, well spotted. But I'm

not the most experienced drone pilot. I

do have a a DJI drone that I've flown a

few times, but I wanted to make sure

that I was familiar with the controls

and the setup and all the sort of

different features of the drone before I

actually took it out on the water. So,

what I'm going to do today is I'm going

to do some flights around this field,

get used to flying it with my for just

on manual control, and then have a

couple of practices with the beacon in

the different um quick shot modes to see

what kind of shots I can get. Obviously,

I won't be able to try the specific

kayaking mode. I mean, I can try it, but

it won't be really a fair test cuz I'm

not in my kayak. But, let's see what

footage we can get just from this field

and see what it looks like. So, let's

get the drone set up. As I say, I've not

set it up at all. So, you'll see for the

first time me connecting it to the app

and all that kind of stuff. Uh, and

you'll see how easy or hard that is. So,

let's get going. All right, let's get

the drone out and get it fired up and

connected. So, it's fully charged. All

three batteries are fully charged, as is

the beacon.

I've watched the tutorial that Hoverer

have put out. So hopefully this is going

to be fairly straightforward. So the

first thing we're going to do is we're

going to turn the drone on. And that is

a long press on the button at the back

here.

So, it says updating the battery. Do not

remove the battery. And we've got a

little

progress indicator there.

Kind of wish I'd done that at home now.

Never mind. I guess I'll have to do that

with all three batteries for the first

use. Update complete. We want to select

English.

Uh, and we want to download. Well, I've

already downloaded the app, but it wants

me to scan the QR code, which I've

already downloaded the app, so I'll just

try to open it.

Uh, so

tap to activate connect.

Allow permissions.

Uh, and it's asking to connect to the

Aqua

serial number 39.

And now it wants me to activate.

Activation successful. It says

activation successful on the screen. And

I'm going to go through the new user

tutorial.

When taking off the water, make sure the

aircraft is connected to the lighthouse

and omni terrain is activated. Do not

take off from sandy surfaces like

beaches. Do not take off from fastoving

boats, cars, or other such platforms.

Keep the battery connector dry when

replacing the battery. Uh, so it

obviously wants me to connect the

lighthouse. So, let's do that.

Press the lighthouse power button to

turn it on and then hold the plus. So,

press the lighthouse power button to

turn it on.

some nice chimes. Then hold the up plus

left rotate button for about 3 seconds

until the blue light flashes quickly.

The lighthouse is on pairing mode.

Those two buttons,

that's flashing quickly. Uh the hover

seems to have gone to sleep.

Uh, so on the Aqua screen, tap pair

lighthouse and then select the

lighthouse you want to pair with,

pair new lighthouse.

Uh, so it wants me to do this again.

Okay, pairing successful.

>> Device connected.

Omni terrain enabled tracking activated.

>> So we're getting all sorts of no

messages. Please ensure the aqua

takeoffs are conducted in an open

outdoor area. When using a loud house

for takeoff, ensure that the lighthouse

tracking is active, that there is

sufficient headroom, and that there are

no obstructions above the takeoff area

to prevent the device from overshooting

or colliding. Got it. So, we can either

take off with the lighthouse or take off

with the just by hand.

Flat on the ground of the water. Press

the lighthouse takeoff button, which I

think is that one.

>> Too close to lighthouse. Ensure safe

takeoff distance.

>> Start take off.

>> Okay. Hover shooting. After takeoff, the

life will hover and automatically being

begin recording.

Uh once the h

aircraft is hovering. Go ahead and

record a short video. Well, hopefully

you can see me through the camera on the

uh hover. Um my nose is running cuz it's

cold.

So, we're going to hit all done on the

screen there.

Uh tap the lighthouse return button.

Aqua, let's see if it follows me. No,

it's just in hover mode. Uh tap the

lighthouse return button. Aqua will

return to the lighthouse and hover

nearby. recommend using the light button

for return to home. So, I'm going to

move away from it

and I'm going to hit the lighthouse

return button.

Grab the aircraft and flip it over to

stop the motors.

There we go.

Let's put it back on its uh landing pad.

Okay, so next is flight mode switch. Tap

the left or right buttons at the bottom

of the screen to switch flight modes.

>> Sub mode, hover, zoom out.

>> Okay, let's try the zoom out. Let me

just make sure uh it's pointing away

from my camera. What does the app say

now? Tap the confirm button to go to the

parameter settings page. Tap confirm

again to enter the parameter editing

page. Use the left and right buttons to

adjust values. When finished, tap

confirm to save. Tap the back button to

return to the previous page.

So,

so we got target tracking on, follow

distance 10 ft, altitude flat shot. So,

let's change that

to high.

shooting more video.

Video segments off. Target tracking on.

Let's change the follow distance

to 20 ft. I wonder if I can change the

uh settings to metric uh because I'm in

the UK and I prefer metric. So, let's

change that to 20 ft. So, before

Omnitrain is activated, please avoid

flying in the following environments.

What? Low light situations. Large height

variance

Uh,

okay. So, Omnitrain says it's activated.

>> Start take off.

Okay. So,

and there it's doing a zoom out.

It's going to come back in.
