I bought the Hover Air X1 Pro Max back

0:03

in June of last year because someone

0:05

told me that it could track just about

0:07

anything as long as it can see a person.

0:10

Now, all of my DJI drones are great at

0:13

tracking people, cars, boats, and bikes,

0:16

but I am an avid ATV user, and none of

0:20

my drones can track me when I'm riding

0:23

on my four-wheeler. Now, the other

0:25

reason that I thought this drone would

0:27

be great is because I wanted a drone

0:29

that I could be less careful with,

0:31

something that was lightweight and

0:33

durable enough to just be confidently

0:36

shoved in a pocket or thrown in the

0:38

console without worrying about it being

0:40

broken. So, after 7 months of using this

0:43

drone, I can say that this little thing

0:45

has exceeded both of those expectations.

0:49

Now, that being said, there are some

0:50

things that I hope 00 Robotics improves

0:53

with their next version of this drone,

0:56

and we'll talk about those things as

0:57

well. Hi everyone, welcome back to the

0:59

channel. And if you're here for the

1:01

first time, my name is Russ, and when

1:02

you're done watching this video, it's my

1:04

hope that you walk away more

1:06

knowledgeable about the Hover Air X1 Pro

1:08

Max so you can decide if it's a drone

1:11

for you. Now, although I did purchase

1:13

this drone myself, 00 Robotics did offer

1:17

to sponsor this video and they requested

1:19

that I share my honest thoughts with all

1:21

of you. So, this video is just going to

1:24

be a high-level review after using the

1:26

Pro Max for the past 7 months. I'll put

1:28

links in the video description for all

1:30

of the Hover Air packages if you want to

1:32

learn more or get one for yourself. And

1:34

if this video gets good interest, I'll

1:37

dive deeper into all of the settings and

1:39

even more about what this drone is

1:41

capable of. Now, when I first unboxed

1:43

the X1 Pro Max, which by the way, I'm

1:45

going to refer to as the Pro Max for the

1:48

rest of this video because it just takes

1:50

too long to say Hover Air X1 Pro Max, I

1:53

can honestly say that I was genuinely

1:55

impressed with not only the packaging,

1:57

but also the build quality of this

1:59

drone. You can tell that the materials

2:01

used for the drone and all of the

2:03

components were designed with longevity

2:06

in mind. This drone, as well as the

2:08

beacon, the control sticks, like

2:10

everything is meant to tolerate less

2:13

than gentle care. And I think the only

2:15

thing that could actually harm this is

2:17

water. So, yes, this drone is not

2:20

waterproof. I'm going to put that out

2:22

there. Be very careful if you're going

2:24

to fly this drone around water. So, on

2:26

day one, I just did a simple follow me

2:28

test as I walked around. I wanted to see

2:30

if the drone stayed steady when it's

2:32

following a slowmoving subject or if it

2:35

would kind of sway back and forth, which

2:37

is very common with many tracking

2:39

drones. Now, there were a few times

2:41

where the flight path varied, but

2:43

overall it followed me in a pretty

2:45

straight line, so I was happy to see

2:47

that. And then also, I had my Mavic 4

2:49

Pro follow me at the same time cuz I

2:51

wanted to see how the Pro Max behaved as

2:54

it was following me. Now, the other

2:56

reason I did that is because I kind of

2:57

wanted to compare how they did against

2:59

each other while tracking me. Now, I do

3:02

want to mention that I did not use the

3:03

beacon for these first few flights

3:06

because I wanted to see how it did

3:08

without the extra help. Now, I'm going

3:10

to talk about the beacon here in just a

3:11

minute, but in case you don't know, the

3:13

beacon has a feature called hover link,

3:15

and that allows the hover air drones to

3:18

maintain tracking. if you go beyond the

3:20

visual tracking ability of the drone. It

3:23

basically enhances your tracking

3:26

experience. So, the next tracking test

3:27

that I did was with my ATV because

3:30

honestly, that is the main reason that I

3:33

bought this drone. I wanted to be able

3:35

to capture some moments when I was

3:37

riding. Again, I left the Beacon at home

3:39

because I wasn't planning on going

3:41

really fast. I wasn't going to go

3:42

anywhere real challenging. And the Pro

3:44

Max performed wonderfully. I was really

3:47

excited that I finally, after all of

3:49

these years, had a drone that could

3:52

track me when I'm on my four-wheeler.

3:54

So, for the rest of the summer and all

3:56

of the fall, this drone either lived in

3:59

my ATV or on my boat. I really didn't do

4:03

much more as far as testing it because

4:05

it was doing what I bought it for. I was

4:07

just enjoying the drone for what it was,

4:09

which begs the question, did I really

4:11

need to spend $1,100 for the full combo?

4:15

I'll dive deeper into that here in just

4:17

a minute. Another great selling point

4:18

for the Pro Max is all of the different

4:21

flight modes. Now, this drone is

4:23

designed to document the human

4:25

experience, and the various flight modes

4:27

allow the user to do that creatively.

4:29

So, first of all, there's hover mode,

4:30

where the drone just sits in place, and

4:33

then you can set it to track you or not

4:36

track you while it hovers there. There's

4:38

zoom out, which is basically a droney.

4:40

There's follow, of course, which is what

4:42

most people are going to use on this

4:43

drone. There's orbit where the drone

4:45

circles around you. There's spiral mode,

4:47

which is just like orbit except it

4:49

climbs as it circles around you. There's

4:52

bird's eye. There's dolly track which

4:54

follows you from the front. There's ski

4:56

mode, cycling mode, indoor follow mode,

4:59

which has advanced path replication for

5:02

slow speed turns and tight corners. Now,

5:05

one thing that I'm going to say about

5:06

this, when I tested it, it's pretty

5:08

jerky and it's kind of inconsistent. I

5:11

actually think regular follow mode works

5:13

a little better than indoor follow mode.

5:15

But honestly, I think the best way to

5:17

fly this indoors is manually and in

5:20

cinematic mode. And then the last two

5:22

modes are 360 spin, where it just hovers

5:24

in place, but it spins around. And then

5:26

angle track, which was recently added.

5:28

That's where the drone follows you from

5:30

the side. So, all of these settings can

5:33

be fine-tuned by holding down on the

5:35

left or the right outer circle buttons

5:37

and then confirming with the center

5:39

button. You can see the current settings

5:41

on this little tiny display on top of

5:43

the drone. Now, speaking of this

5:45

display, although it's very small, it's

5:48

very simple and easy to understand. It

5:49

shows you what mode it's in. It shows

5:51

you the secondary settings below that.

5:53

And then at the very top, you'll see the

5:56

omni terrain indicator, which you should

5:58

really make sure is enabled before you

6:00

launch, especially if you're going to be

6:01

flying this drone over any water or

6:03

snow. Omni terrain is it's kind of best

6:06

understood as like a special operating

6:08

mode that helps the drone handle bad

6:11

ground reference environments where pure

6:14

vision navigation would be less stable.

6:16

So we're talking about water or snow

6:19

covered ground. And really all you have

6:20

to do to make sure that omni is enabled

6:23

is just wait like a minute before you

6:25

launch. You'll see it light up and then

6:27

you know you're going to have that extra

6:29

security. But I digress. Also on the

6:31

display is the amount of space left on

6:33

the SD card. And then on the upper right

6:35

of the display is the remaining battery

6:37

level of the drone. So that's all of the

6:40

automated modes on this drone. Honestly,

6:42

I don't use many of them. I just use

6:44

follow mode, the dolly track, and angle

6:47

track. The other modes really aren't

6:48

that useful for me, but I can see for

6:50

like travel enthusiasts who want to

6:52

capture their environment in more

6:54

creative ways, they all really serve a

6:56

purpose. Another huge selling point with

6:58

the X1 Pro Max is the many ways that you

7:02

can fly it. Now, yes, it is meant to be

7:04

a selfie drone, which means that you can

7:06

open it up, turn it on, you push a

7:08

button, and it's going to fly and record

7:10

however you want it to. There's no extra

7:12

parts, there's no setup, there's nothing

7:14

to attach, there's nothing to wait for.

7:16

It's fast, it's convenient, and it's

7:19

fun. And it's the biggest reason to get

7:21

this drone. Now, you can get by with

7:23

just buying the drone and then maybe a
